Does anyone else instantly think of the scene in "We are the Millers" when they all sing this & noone but the son knows the Left-eye rap?? Great song & great scene!!
YESS exactly what I was thinking of when he was talking about bill nye
Yes. Loved that part
Cracks me up... except he didn't sing the whole part
As a kid I knew how deep the lyrics were but that's because we chased down all the lyrics so we could rap with Left-Eye too.
My uncle was in a relationship and it still got through to him. Passed away from aids when I was young so hearing this song as a teen I connected to the meaning.
Even when I stopped listening to them as much, TLC has always held a special place in my heart. I remember waking to my TV on when the released the news of Lisa's passing and I just sobbed. RIP angel.
This son come out, when my youngest son went to prison. He was 19, and did 3 yrs. He's 41 now, and is a 41, and a CEO of a company.
That’s awesome. Good for him for turning his life around.
They were actually on water at universal studios where they shot Jaws… this is an amazingly sad song but it’s so amazing
Always loved this song as a child. Loved it even more when I watched the video again as an adult and really understood the message behind the music. First story highlighting the dangers of drugs and the impacts it can have on the community, and the second story highlighting the importance of practicing safe sex (i.e the man looking into the mirror found a Kaposi Sarcoma lesion on his face). TLC did a lot to raise HIV/AIDS awareness during the height of the epidemic, even pinning condoms on their clothing.
TLC came out when I was in high school. I loved every song they ever made. The industry did them as dirty as any artist has ever been done. RIP LISA LEFT EYE LOPEZ 💜💜💜💜
So glad you reacted to this! That entire album was pure gold. I was plenty old enough to understand this song when it came out, and it really hits every time I hear it...
I was waaaaay old enough. 61 now but I love TLC now, then&always!!
My kids are 29 and 30 yrs old now. When they were little they would sing to this and dance to it. They'd sing the part don't go chasing water falls part.
The entire album is considered a masterwork.
my 2 favorite songs from TLC is Waterfalls and Unpretty. they was one of my favorite groups back in high school... they are in my top 10 of all time.
the video always made me shiver a little because seeing a video with the lyrics make it real and more dramatic.
This song and video are still so relevant. I miss TLC. RIP L.E.L. 😇
Oh this track is so beautiful! Yes, I 1st heard this on the school bus.. I remember like it was yesterday! Our bus 🚌 driver was so awesome. She’d always play the best “pop” stations. And we didn’t have any clue back then just how deep this track was either. Oh the #NostalgiaAttack bug has once again bitten me! 🤣 Thx Billy! ✌🏻&💙
Whenever I lose something or forget something I blame it on the lyrics of this song for permanently taking up space in my brain.
This song was produced by Atlanta production team Origanized Noise the producers behind OutKast and Goodie Mob also from the ATL
@Aeron Peets when I hear this song I always think of Organized Noise and how some real niggas wrote this
Such an emotional song.
Their music has ability to speak to the heart. This song is so relevant to life today as it was the day they released. I heard and bought their first released album while stationed in Marietta. The youth of today need to listen and be taught this value given they don't always think of the consequences
Great song loved it and understood back then and still love it today :)
👍 Sumthin' Wicked This Way Comes and Fake People by TLC
✌💜🙏
Unpretty is so good to with a great message
I definitely danced to this at middle school dances without every realizing how deep it was.
When this came out I knew it was deep as a child…
Man their abs are amazing. I want their trainer.
This is my favorite TLC song. RIP Left Eye Lopez. She died too young.
Of course as a kid, I didn't know what sex was, HIV, and I was shielded from knowing about gun violence. Also I didn't know what a condom was nor didn't I know that it what Lisa used as an eye patch. I had an innocent mind as a child and still innocent as a teen too. There were alot I was naive about.
R.I.P Lisa left eye Lopez
My absolute favorite group growing up!! I remember being so excited when a new music video would air on MTV 💕. This one is probably my favorite from them.
Love TLC my fav female group. Real beautiful women I love the song writing and talent. Miss Left Eye presence and hip hop skills.
Same here; the song came out in the 90’s when I was a teenager and it played everywhere but too young to understand the words
tHIS VIDEO WAS GENIUS!! i WAS GREATFUL FOR IT WHEN MY KIDS WERE IN THERE TEENS. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!
Classic! Thanks for reacting.
the tlc performamce in 95 vma is just amazing!
We used to sing this everyday on the bus, on the way home from school (7th grade). I still know the Left Eye verse by heart. We did know what it was about, at that age...though I can't recall how deeply it resonated for my peers.
Originally there was no rap verse to this song. Left Eye was in jail when it was time to record the album (for burning down her boyfriend's house) and was on work release to record. On her way to the studio the day this song was recorded she saw a rainbow and wrote the rap on the way to the studio.
Andre risen.
I met them at the browns training facility shortly after everything happened. I had to get on left eye the way she was treating little kids. Her body guards even let me do it
Miss left eye! A real talent, taken way too early!
This kid that got shot in the beginning is Shyheim. One of the greatest "kid-rappers" in the 90's. Check Shyheim - On and On. Amazing track.
Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopez was tha bomb!!
Unfortunately, some music is just wasted on the very young, and they are the largest market...I haven't heard this song in years, and now I remember why I liked it so much. Thank you.
Fun Fact about TLC the name of the group came from the first letter of the members nicknames
T-Boz
Left eye
Chili
I think everyone knew that haha
This is one of my favorites by far!!! I've got it on my Spotify playlist.
If you ever get a chance, you should watch the documentary that Left Eye was working on before she died.
TLC album Crazy Sexy Cool is a classic.
Please react to It wasn't me by Shaggy
TLC was my daughters favorite group when she was growing up and this song was so powerful back than. Rest in peace left eye.
Also just like the rest of some musicains something more happen to her that day when she died. 😢😢
Bill Nye often included music videos at the end which were parodies of popular songs such as Respect by Aretha Franklin, Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, and Waterfalls by TLC.
I miss left eye so much. One of my favorites
I made my 2 teenage boys listen to this song many times
How did I not know Left Eye died? Geez... I loved her rap in the middle of the song, though. Always have. It reminds me a bit of something Shanice did in her song, "I Love Your Smile".
My almost 6 year daughter loves TLC, especially this song and Way Back.
TLC I knew this, great group ❤️ "Unpretty" from them, very good too 👌 good continuation to you ✌️
Left eye would have been SO big if she were still here
Love TLC
damn.... 3 letters took him to his final resting place....
I didn't hear that part when I was younger..
I was 14 when this song was released, little did I know My Mother and Stepdad would be diagnosed with those 3 letters 2yrs later, I lost Stepdad 11yrs ago, and My Mother is still living with it
My Brother in-law is also living with it
@2kmelton correct
I was a young man that fell in love with Left Eye back in the 90's. She made me believe rap had a message. I am now 53 and I can't shake the white, but I still love the spit and I pump it in my ride. Grey in the beard, old man looking weird LOL.
That's the part I love about reactions... seeing a rediscovering 😊 it's an important song. Someone can see this reaction and it can touch them 😉
The kid who gets shot is Shyheim ( extended Wu-Tang Clan family ), you should check some of his tracks out too. "Life As A Shorty", "Real Bad Boys", "On And On".
Lol I ain’t know either until watching your video. I also can’t swim 😂💀
Do some more TLC.
lol has anyone else ween Keon Polee, Lyrics we let slide ... SHE WAS LOOKING FOR THE WEAK!
It's interesting: I was never a TLC fan, this isn't a style I'm partial to, and yet this lyric and its meaning caught my attention long ago. Deep song. Sadly of course Lisa Lopez is gone...
You should do TLC way back
RIP lisa
Ok, I never request a song but TLC Unpretty should be added to your list.
I had never paid attention to this song but wow! Thank you Billy!
He already did Unpretty, love that song too
You should watch the video for TLC's Unpretty
This song reminds me of scream queens lol
I would love a reaction to Walking Her Home and Letters From War both by Mark Shultz.
Billy check out her gravestone.💖💖💖💖💖💖
You should do Girl Talk by TLC you will be cracking up laughing
My adolescent brain when this was on the air regular only remembers my first job and the intention to see WWF Royal Rumble. Never came to fruition, sadly.
You should react to Red Light Special 😊
Lol and we were singing this in elementary school and no I had no idea what it was about til atleast highschool or so lol!
I listened to the weirdest stuff and my mind was too pure to know lol!
Yup! I had no idea either since I was pretty young when this came out 🤣
rip left eye
Same Billiy, same, much heavier than I remember.
please do creep and no scrubs
You should do Unpretty by them, too. This album was so huge to me when I was like 12 and just developing my own music tastes and not just listening to my parents music.
lol yess me too i always think of bill nye
More TLC
#classic And Chilly - soon beautiful
Its annoying how they remove parts of the song, as if they would have left that whole part when the kid is doing the deal, that use to have Left Eye's rap verse, and it's wierd because its not like it was something worth censoring. And its something that happens on alot of TLC's songs that I noticed.
These 3 girls are beautiful. R.I.P. Lisa.
You should do...tlc damaged.
I liked rgis group this was always my fave song
I miss their music, such a sad ending to Lisa "Left-eye" Lopez.
1:32 he a drug dealer poor mom she try save him…
Amazing reaction! Hey Billy! Check out " IGY " by Donald Fagen! You won't be disappointed!
Hello Billy you so... you should listen to TLC damaged... t I think you would really like it
Lisa was a POET !
Please react to TLC Damaged
tlc was a tight band three pretty ladys RIP left eye
❤️❤️❤️
You should watch Schindler's list
The fact that you keep hearing songs from childhood that you had no idea what they meant at the time is literally proof that people need to stfu about what ‘message’ controversial artists music is ‘sending to kids’. KIDS AREN’T GETTING ANY DAMN MESSAGE THEY’RE JUST LISTENING TO THE MUSIC, CHILL
You know the maceronia was about a lady cheating on boyfriend who was in the army away? I never knew that has a kid
☮️💙
All three are buetiful, however Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopez was the best looking. May she R.I.P
Hi :)
In that second verse, wouldn’t that mean both partners have AIDS. Isn’t that how it works?
🙂👍
I miss your normal intro!!!
F Gary Grey Directed this video that is why its awesome
This song is actually about aids BTW
Wrong wrong wrong again. Smh
