Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy was sentenced to three years in jail, two of them suspended, for corruption in 2021. It's not a unique situation on the world stage. If you can't do the time don't do the crime.
As an American living in France, I second this. Americans saying this is "unprecedented" are extremely nearsighted. My french family wonders why this is such a big deal for us to understand and also wonder why Trump's lies don't get him in further trouble.

I live in rural Texas, I keep hearing people saying that they support violence against the justice system officials. I look at it and think well you are willing to go to prison over a criminal, lose your right to vote, and carry a firearm then that’s on you.
What we have is a slow moving coup happening with trump and his allies in congress. Stay focused and vote blue.
