Looks like a great product. We cant get the rods up here in Canada, at least where I live but I use 10' 1/2" rebar. I dont like wire.

We use and sell 8' rods. They will be back in stock in about 2-3 weeks.
What length of cable or chain from trap to slide lock
I use the mfg default. Short is best to keep their nose close to the lock, close to the bottom :)
Do you keep the rods white or do you paint them?
I paint mine. Some do, some don't ... I paint just to reduce visibility from humans, nothing to do with beaver.

Only if you grind the ribs off... It's made for 1/2" smooth rod (steel or fiberglass)

I am not aware of any retail location selling 10' fiberglass. All we use are 8' rods and we carry 8' at shop.j3o.com
