Aphex Twin is like the god of electronic music to me, so I’m not surprised that a musician with such a good taste as Björk sees him as a king, even if it’s always a pleasure to hear it :)
Autechre is far better imo. Autechre was pushing the boundaries of experimental poly beats in a way that Aphex Twin could only dream of! Aphex Twin certainly got more attention, but I'll never forget when MTV played a video from Autechre! Autechre got less attention because the music doesn't always follow typical styles or structures. Lots of people recognized Autechre as the pinnacle of Electronica in the mid 90s. It still stands as an example of Electronicas best artists over 20 years later! Don't sleep on Autechre. Their collection is quite large, and full of gems.

Is that the result of accurate imitation or did he accidentally become the king of that genre and era? Everytime someone would say there's Prodigy... but there's Aphex Twin! That definitely backfired because I always thought they were way edgier than Prodigy. Aphex Twin were well apart of that late 90s "edge."

Saw Aphex Twin at an early earthcore rave in the bush in Victoria in the mid-90’s, his deck was set up on a card table under a canvas tent and it was all running off of a generator with extension leads running everywhere. There was like maybe 150 of us there and he played the witching hour set (pre-dawn) he was amazing…

This made me jerk a tear, like she seems so passionately enthralled by Aphex's work at that point of time. Always feels nice to see someone else giving the recognition a fellow artist deserves. Godspeed to Chris Cunningham btw he was a real juggernaut for some of Aphex's campaigns.
In my opinion Cunninghams videos are what really carried this and windowlicker to the moon they just compliment each other so well. even rubber johnny was an amazingly twisted work of art.

aw man, back in the days of the one and only music channel that would play such videos here in Germany: the utterly amazing VIVA2. Real alternative music, brillant shows that focused on the weird side of culture and so much attitude. It's were I got into Björk. Aphex, Autechre, Tool, Shellac, Sleep and whatnot.
