Eric Burdon's voice is so rich and deep and the slight rasp in it is such a nice contrast to their choir boyish looks. These guys have been kinda forgotten although their songs are everywhere
I'm 70 and adore his voice...I remember when they first appeared in 1964. They made other fantastic songs too...there's vids of them live on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Other live animals - don’t let me be misunderstood; we gotta get out of this place; it’s my life. All these are good. Also Eric burdon’s’ ‘sky pilot’; spill the wine; etc.
👏Great reaction to an AMAZING SONG! It was waaaay before my time, but the first time I heard it I was hypnotised - Eric's voice - WOW! And Alan Price PLAYED that organ with such SOUL! Never mind The Beatles - The Animals had such a unique sound and should've got more credit for their brilliant music. Thanks for your reaction👏
Singin' the blues at about 22 here, and Alan Price with that amazing organ playing, classic. Stevie Winwood was even younger when he got started, and Alex Chilton was about 16! when he sang with The Box Tops. Thanks for uploading and be well.
My Mom's favorite song. She sang it to me as my lullaby when I was a baby. I dont know if that means that my Mom is the most awesome woman on Earth, or if I was basically cursed from the beginning... But its a shitload cooler than "Rockabye Baby" 😎
Eric burdon vocal Chas chandler bass john steel drums Alan price keyboard Hilton Valentine guitar .Chas died several years ago .Alan left the band in 1965. Eric still performs.check out album winds of change, from 1968.
Oh yeah! The lead singer, Eric Burdon, in this song also sung with a group called War. He did a song with War called "Spill The Wine". You should check it out when you get a chance. Love your reactions btw.
They let Price sign the contracts, and he only put down his own name. Screwing the other band members. Which led to the breakup. And he received most of the profits.
House of the Rising Son was used in the movie Casino when everything came crashing down. That's where I remember it from the most. I imagine it's been in a lot of other shows/movies though. The Animals definitely stand out as something unique and special out of that era.
Terrific reaction I TV. My favorite part is at 3:26 when you playfully dare the keyboardist to play his keyboard. Your expressions that followed were pure gold!! I really enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing and have a very Happy New Year, RNB
Was lucky enough to have a father who introduced me to the animals, the who, the stone etc from an early age. Just want to say, you seem like a lovely person, good luck with your journey. You have some HONEST energy.
@@user-ky6vw5up9m Sounds good. Listening to this more, he is basically playing the organ in a traditional "lead guitar" role. He is even "soloing" at points. Reminds me of Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard. But with the organ, and that powerful frontman belting out the lyrics.
This song has been around since the 1860s and was originally sung by a woman about being trapped in a brothel. Burdon, the singer, changed it to a man since he was singing it.
I thought that as well, but apparently I was wrong. It is an old English tune that was based on a house of gambling, prostitution and other activities. The man is ruined becomes a criminal, and is condemned to life in Prison, hence to wear that ball and chain line. I have heard other of the song where this is mentioned.
This could apply to other "reactions to classics": Somewhere near age 70, Eric Burdon continues to perform (COVID interruptions ofc) and there are a dozen YT vids of him singing this - still rockin - still great - as a "senior" to live crowd tears and acclaim. Would be a worth a watch, for both those who savor the reactions, and those that have a reaction they wish to share.
They don't make em like this anymore! Pure talent all around.

An awesome group from the 60's
It always floors me that this ypung college student looking boy can project that giant voice....lol

" Don't let me be misunderstood "
That’s pure heart felt music in the 60s nothing but instrumental music

The Bass player ( Chas Chandler ) is the person who discovered Jimi Hendrix in America and brought him back to UK and the rest is history .

The singer is Eric Burdon. Spill the wine with War is a great tune. Studio version is best
I like the live version best! Eric is great live!
Their keyboard player was woefully unacknowledged for how awesome he was.
Can't you just tell that UK bands loved Blues music? Eric Burdon really did have a voice, plenty more Animals tunes to react to, please.
I never get tired of hearing this and your reaction was great. Thanks!

Wow! Works. A soulful voice..
The bass player here , Chas, took Jimi Hendrix under his wing and became Jimi’s Manager.
Great reaction - more Animals : "Oh , Lord , please don't let me be misunderstood" - and "We've gotta get outta this place"
Another good Animals song was "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood."
The organist is going crazy on this one.

@@coleparker Ah yes, i also seen it connected to the Childe ballads and other cautionary songs.
Primal music. I loved it. I remember it when it was new.
The Sound from the VOX Keyboard is so strong and wonderful. Greetings from Heidelberg / Germany
Eric Burden reminds me of the artful dodger. 😁
I love being reminded of my first time hearing a song. Another great reaction.
You hitting these classic songs quick
Wow! Me too. Thanks.

Eric Burdon just turned 82 on May 11, 2023. Still living and has had a long singing career.
The song was played on the movie Good Fellows!!!
I love your reactions to this song. Great video!!
i had a look around to see if this song was used in movie soundtracks. It was used in the Suicide Squad.
I like the way the guy behind him is smiling
The guitar player at the end smiling makes it more creepy
it's cause they did it one take lol
Some say the guitar player was smiling because his girlfriend showed up in the audience. Not sure if that’s true.
some pipes there
Super chanel..suoer reaction as it always is .😀😀
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 beautiful spirit.....
This was done in one take & they were all in their 20's at that time 1964
Singer was 23 years old, sounds like 35 years of experience singing.

That's how I was on the radio 100 times a day back in the 60s. Two years later they all had long hair and hippied out
According to his facial expression, with almost no effort. Wth?
His voice was haunting I believe is what you are looking for.
