- From the days of rallying glory. The original 1987 Pikes Peak Audi Quattro of Walter Röhrl, the Bimotor VW Golfs & Seat's twin engined Ibiza were cars I've never seen nor heard before. But they will definitely never be forgotten.
It’s clear the UR Quattros were the stars of that film, but my heart got all a flutter when I saw the Lancias!

It's good to see someone that actually races the group B's rather than just doing exhibition runs

Those lanicas are cool. But horrible suspension. Almost lift a rear wheel when cornering hard.

That BMW driver at the start has insane skills.... that jump right before an e-brake corner, pure gold.

Honestly, probably not, since it's not the fastest way to take those corners. He can drift his car well, that's for sure. But will we find any rally driver who competes in real competition who's not able to do this?

It's an awesome sound but unfortunately, if I'm not mistaken, that sound means the turbo blow off valve has been removed, that increases turbo lag and the turbo gets damaged much faster
@@LinkinPark4Ever1996 As far as I can think, the S1 never had an compressor bypass valve or BOV so yes you would be right with that, but only with the difference that the S1 always has been that way. :p
@@LinkinPark4Ever1996 Also a thing to keep in mind is, that the Turbo gets killed by the Antilag way before the turbo flutter. The S1 used to have brutal Antilag so it cancelled out the caused lag by that pretty well.

Talking about turbo lag, don't you think the lag can be created after the anti lag system as well?
If I'm correct: without a BOV, when the driver releases the gas pedal the unusued/unburned compressed air from the turbo comes back from where it came, passing through the turbo which means slowing down its speed, trying to revert the spinning motion, so when the driver re-accelerate, the turbine will take more time to get back to the higher rotation speed = lag
@@LinkinPark4Ever1996 I'm (sadly) not a mechanic, or extremely adept, so I'm also just passing on what I learned from hearing/reading so far, but the antilag would be pushing against that from the other side of the turbo and and spooling it up again to rpm that are beyond the turbo lag. I once read that the Antilag was so hard on the S1 that it kept the turbo spooled enough to boost right away even from idling, no idea if that really is correct though.
I love the old rally cars the most, glad to see them being driven hard! Especially the powerful Group B cars from Audi, Lancia, Peugeot etc - absolutely raw and visceral
Group b cars still look amazing and sound amazing in 2018. WRC should bring in a RWD class again
Nearly all WRC events have a 2WD category for local championships and historic classes, we just don't get to see them as part of the coverage.

GROUP B WAS BANNED CAUSE OPEL KADETT STARTED TO USE 4S.
4S HAD INTERNAL CONTROL , YOU COULD BALANCE THE TRACTION ACCORDING THE CONDITON OF TERRAIN AND OTHER THINGS. THAS THE ONLY SECRET IN THE RALLY WORLD.
IF YOU DONT KNOW, 4S KADETTE TRACTION, WAS THE THE FAMOUS XTRAC, USE IN ALL TERRAIN RACING CARS ODAY , ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD.
IT WAS BIULT TO SUPPORT 700 HP, THAN EVERYBODY HEART IT AND SHUT THE DOORS, THEY KNEW THEY COULDNT GO FURTHER, CAUSE ALL THE AUDIS HAD A LIMIT.
THEY WERE AFRAID OF THE OPEL PROJECT.
