Thanks for the honest review Blake! Naturally we're biased here at Bavsound so, wanted to reply to a few of your points speaking in *general terms*: A couple of things to keep in mind: More efficiency often means less control. It would make sense if you are hearing a bit more bass or volume from a particular set of speakers, you might simultaneously hear more "boom", which is a personal preference. If volume is at the top of the criteria list, then more efficiency is what you want. If you are looking for more control, sometimes you have to give up amplifier efficiency. We try to walk the fine line between big full bass and precise low-end reproduction... Part of our design ethos was actually to improve some of the factory subwoofer "boominess". As far as ferrite vs neodymium magnets: The type of magnet doesn't affect sound quality nearly as much as other factors. Some of our speaker designs are ferrite and some are neodymium. We use neodymium when there is a space constraint, and as you mentioned neodymium has a weight advantage if you are tracking the car. ... Silk vs titanium veneer tweeters: Silk will be clear but much smoother and warmer, natural sounding. Titanium tends to sound brighter and crisper, but can sometimes sound harsh or metallic. In short, our speaker designs were created with the idea that they would be "transparent" meaning the sound of the speakers would not be present. We want you to hear a bass guitar rather than bass mud. We want you to hear the singer's voice rather than the harsh sibilance of her speech. In essence, like you are there in the room with the musicians.
How about the pronunciation of “Bavsound”? I called your number and listened to the recording of you pronouncing your own name. It’s Bav with a soft a, not Bahv. Like “bat”. Not like “bot”. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
I installed the bavsound ghost woofers and I immediately noticed a day and night difference. The bass is crips and clean. Can’t wait for mine to fully break in. I installed them a day ago. Install was easy
Just the woofers? I have the HK in a G20 and am not sure if I want to just do the subs, replace all speakers OR leave it and add a small sub in the trunk. Id rather keep with the stock look. How much low end did you gain with the subs? 20/30/40%?
@@ryanbuster4626i have a G02 X4 with HK I’ve heard that there is no way to swap the HK amp and I’m not sure if upgrading the speakers will make a difference, any opinions?
Man, Thank you for doing this video! I am new to the world of bmw and came across both these brands so I was wondering which one I would like more. It sounds like from your take that the bimmer tech has more bass which is what I am after. So thanks for doing all the leg work!
Before doing audio demos of new speakers, you should let them have their 10-20 hour break-in period, otherwise you're not getting anywhere near an accurate representation of what they *will* sound like. But, still... dope video.
Dude I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I have the Alpha One speakers without the amp and so far it's ok (without the amp). The amp is bloody expensive$1400.00 now bro
Upgrading the speakers is cool but i have the Bavsound Revenant Pro Amp upgrade and HOLY SH*T did it transform the audio experience in the vehicle! Without adding the extra power of the amp to the new speakers you’re just missing out on so much potential. I also have the Bavsound ghost subs which I'm not as crazy about because the bass isnt as clean as i would like but i may have received defective ones.
It's quite the challenge to tell the difference unless you have two car side by side with the different speakers, same setting, and after the break in phase. Also, songs are mixed differently so some may hit harder than others so in the end, it all comes down to your personal listening preference. For me, I will go with Bavsound; I upgraded all my speakers in my BMW X5 for about $1000 and they sound great compared to the harman kardon system in my 7 series. Without hearing the Bavsound system, you would think the harman kardon sound is awesome but for me, the difference is night and day. I thought about going with bimmer-tech but all of their products are overpriced like the BMW Stealership so for great sound upgrade that won't break the bank, I will stick to Bavsound. Blake claimed that he is not being paid but free speakers or any free items is the same as being paid to say nice things about a product. I am not being paid but I wish Bavsound could send me free speakers for my 7 series lol!
Did you do speakers without the amp and if you did how much louder are they compared to stock speakers I don’t even have Harmon and I can’t seem to get my music loud enough for me lol
You definitely could but it wouldn’t be nearly as easy to install. The plugs wouldn’t be there and you’d have to know each size of speaker and experiment.
After breaking in the Bavsound and Alpha one subwoofers, which has relatively more boom/thumping bass if I do not want to add additional amp or external boxed subwoofer???
@@BlakesGarage thanks for your input on Alpha One sub. hits harder than Ghost sub. Maybe you can also consider reviewing plug & play Focal sub. and Match sub.
Wonder how these would compare to the Audison 8” underseat subs made in Italy. Audison makes high end premium sound systems with their Forza multichannel amps with integrated dsp for a seamless integration into the BMW i8 infotainment.
Hey brotha, it’s been a month now - How have the speakers worked out? I know they are priced the same so price is not an issue, just curious which one is ultimate the best sounding? You mention the Bimmertech moves more air but the bavsound has a crisp-punchiness to it, a month later is this still the case? Crisp-punchiness is what I would go for over loudness😃🙏🏽 great vid!
Blake, I lose a year of my life every time you say "bawv-sound". Do you say Bavarian or do you say BAWvarian? I drive a BAWvarian car on a BAWvarian road.
Bavsound is the biggest rip off I think I ever seen. If people weren't so lazy and used to everything being done for them(or just dumb)they could save themselves a BOAT load of money. By simply measuring my speakers and spending a lil time online I was able to replace the ENTIRE system for the same cost as bavsound was gonna charge for JUST THE REAR speakers! That's 11 speakers, head unit and amp,all in the factory housings using the orginal grills so one can't even tell anything was changed...cept for the AMAZING sound

Great vid thanks i was looking at bavsound for my Supra but heard the subs weren't much improved from stock so i think i might go with these.
i shouldn't have bought the bavsound subs and should have just gone with 10" sub in the trunk. half price of bavsound and more boom.
Just measure the speakers and purchase separately, like dude said half the cost and a better sound
I think you should always upgrade the amp if your updating speakers. You are not giving the speakers a chance if the amp can't keep up
He should’ve installed the bavsound amp also

How does it sound now after they’ve been broken in
They sound great 👍🏻
You need to get the alpha amp
The BAV Sound looks better made than Bimmer Tech, as someone said, a mix and match may be better.
You cannot rate the Bavsound without the amp.

Run bavsound 8ohms if your going to run oem amp
8ohms is only on oem individual audio and bang & olufsen. harman kardon/logic 7/hifi/base audio all use 2 or 4ohms

Yeah still got copyrighted strike but sounds good 👍🏼

Thanks!!!
Bimmer tech has better speaker but Bavsound got way better sub. I would mix and match.
