Looks really good for the jaw muscle! Seriously, though, it looks very tasty. Looks a little bit like dried mangoes. I haven't tried sweet potatoes this way, but it looks really nice and healthy. I grow my own sweet potatoes in NZ. Sweet potatoes are super food. The orange sweet potatoes variety is very sweet and a bit soft when boiling. The steaming and drying method would really help keep their shape. Would love to eat this super snack. Thanks for the video. Auckland NZ.

So, it can be emergency meal.
      Not just snack.

Yes, correct. A healthy snack and a staple food. Sweet potatoes are super food. It's one of the main vegetables in the Pacific Islands and in NZ. It's healthier and has more nutrients than potatoes. Especially the purple sweet potatoes. Don't confuse it with purple yams. Thank you.

They look good but be cautious about where you buy sweet potatoes from in China and other mining heavy countries. Some sweet potatoes are grown downstream of big mining operations because of their hardiness, using land and water that would challenge other crops, and sweet potatoes absorb high levels of lead. Most areas are fine, just don’t eat sweet potatoes from areas with mining.

Somebody's always got something bad to say about China and its foods, if they are so bad then why are there so freaking many of them still alive in the world?😮

Dried sweet potatoes are a delicious snack. The store I used to get them from doesn’t carry them anymore, and I haven’t been able to find them at other Asian markets. Now that this video is posted, though, I might give it a shot and try to make my own.

Please recheck. If I am not mistaken the steaming process is not only once but several times after drying. Several times of drying too, that's why it's chewy.

Whoa. I’m gonna make these for my kids. I wonder if I could use a dehydrator to mimic the drying effect and a pressure cooker to steam them. Does anyone know how long this method preserves them for?

how much longer does it preserve them? Becaus sweed potatoes already last a really long time. I had a sweet potato survive a full winter at room temperature in my apartment while being fully edible in the end. I'm sure with proper storage it could go more than a year.

The simple process is similar to that of dried dates. The difference is that dried dates maintain their skin, and they are not steamed. I love dried dates; they are also chewy.
