I half Russian. This makes me cry. My father's family came from Russia. He grew up just in time for WW2. He came home married my mom. He died when I was 2. she never married again. I never really knew him but I think and miss him. He had brothers and cousins in the Red Army. I met those that survived . This song means a lot to me. Please don't hate me for being half Russian I've spend my life with hate. I proud of Russia! and being a daughter of a Russian.

Dmitri was one of THE very best. This piece used to be one of his favorites. I don´t want to hear anybody else but him sing this. One very sad part is in 2:30...where he sings about the gap in the flock, that may be left for him...he smiles, as he is singing this, knowing full well, that he is battling cancer. One year after this song was recorded, Dima was dead.😢
