CaliRail Thanks ! I actually have plans on returning to the Surfline and railfanning sometime in December or January. Granted though, I’ll miss seeing the Surfliner F59PHIs.
Great Video:) I was on hiatus from railfanning for a while due to family business and bad air quality, but thank goodness I'm back on the mainline now.
You should make a video based on Niles Jct. I live close to Moreno Valley Metrolink station and I don't go there much, but you are missing an opportunity.
3102 makes me want to cry but throw up.. But, great video man! You sure ACEd these stations! Edit: A Semaphore signal!! Sadly it is gonna get replaced by a regular signal.. Or what ever it is called?
InlandEmpireRailfan Thank you ! And nice pun. ;) Yes, it is a semaphore signal, however it is only a restored display and is not actively functioning as a mainline signal.
How many Union Pacific freight trains go through here? It's UP's line, no? I've railfanned here several times in the last few days and saw but only one UP train, and it was only a local :/
Malcolm Green Yes, you are correct. The line is UP’s Niles Subdivision, although UP’s Oakland Subdivision merges into the Niles Sub just east of the station as well. The freight action through Fremont is unfortunately very limited to only a couple freights a day. Mainly some intermodals, manifests, and locals, but usually no more than 10 freights a day at best as far as I am aware of. That, combined with the recent Precision Scheduled Railroading has made predicting freights all the more difficult recently. There is a daily intermodal shuttle that runs between Lathrop and Oakland that can be seen in the morning hours usually inbound to Oakland before the morning ACE commuter rush, and return to Lathrop after the morning rush is over, but even this train can be unpredictable due to other external factors. Only other regularly scheduled freights I can think of are other intermodals that are specifically destined for Oakland originating from back east. These trains usually do a set out at Lathrop before continuing to Oakland via Altamont Pass and possibly through Fremont, though their times can vary greatly. Hope this helps !
Hey, I know it’s late but here’s an update on freight traffic through Fremont. For locals, the Albrae local runs through here Monday-Friday in both directions in the evening, mainly after 8 pm, and the Salina’s hauler runs south to Watsonville through here at noon, but it returns on a different route. For mainline freight there is only 2-3 per day, there is the Union Pacific IOANP an intermodal train which typically passes through at noon usually between 1pm and 4pm daily, and the MOAOA which is a manifest train runs to Warm Springs daily early in the morning around 6 am but returns back to Oakland on a different route. Sometimes 2-3 times a week the MROMI an autorack train might reroute through here which usually passes around noon. So freight traffic at Fremont is usually only 5 per day nowadays.
MassDotFan1062 Productions Thank you ! Believe it or not, I do not. I usually try to keep it simple when it comes to my railfanning equipment. Basically just a camcorder and tripod, and sometimes a scanner.
David Schieler Yes, however the locomotives are from arriving trains into Lathrop and/or setouts. The engines typically remain in consist for the run to Oakland and back (i.e. the “Lathrop Shuttle”).
Great stuff! Keep it up! So close to the whole state now!
ziggypwner Thanks ! Will do !
Awesome Video! You should come down to Santa Barbara again, Chargers already in service!

BrentNguyen46 Me too. ☹️
6:15- It is like a horror movie! 3102s horn and the mechanical bells in the early morning sound so depressing.
It’s beautiful, it’s something we can never get nowadays

Copper Cruz Thanks ! I’ll be on the lookout for those new videos !
Great video!
Rhett Ross Albert Thank you !
Good work! I used to work in Fremont at the Hapton Inn
Thank you !
“Hapton” 💀
Nice video !
Thank you !
Hey , This video’s 523 is just reminding me of the other video of the same set but 6 cars long at OKJ.
3102 sounds utterly depressing
It sounds like a choked K3LA in a toilet
@@inlandempirerailfan4269its a amazing what a choke and neglected maintenance to a airchime horn can do

Nice! Intermodals normally pass here daily
Pacific Zone Railfan Thanks ! Yes indeed.

Awesome video! I love the angles as well :). Do you use a external microphone with your camera?

@@BrentNguyen46 the audio is perfect lol i thought u were using a mic lol
What is that weird moaning sound on the F59s when they slow down/stop?
For example, 9:18
That sound is the dynamic brakes.
@@BrentNguyen46 Ohhhhh ok thx
or was the train cdtx 2012 overshooting the platform
UP was a bit over powered don't ya think lol
