I think I met Dan in 2010 when the shop was in CT. A long time Nikon shooter, I wanted an M. I spoke with him (or maybe father or brother?) on the phone and then drove up from LI to make the purchase. Very knowledgeable and professional. I loved that camera, took some of my finest photos but film developing got to be a drag and digital was so much easier particularly if you shoot a lot of longer lenses and flash. Sold it and have regretted it ever since. I'm once again shooting film and pining for an M but Chicago is a helluva drive from NY! Excellent tour of the business and very spooky that this popped into my feed as I'm contemplating whether to jump back into the M family.
Hahaha I guess UA-cam read your mind! Or it could've been your searches online. You know they watch over our every move online nowadays 😅 Chicago is not that far from NY if you fly! The store is incredible and as you know Dan's super nice. Totally worth the trip! 😉
Best camera dealer I've ever known! Tamarkin Camera is THE place to get your Leica, no matter where you are located. No one will take care of you like Dan.
I so agree!! The store itself is like the Disneyland for photographers. I didn’t want to leave! 😆
Great tour of the new store. Nice that he has a beautiful Peter Turnley photograph on his wall (near the bookcase in the showroom)

Thank you for watching! Dan is one of the most passionate Leica people I've ever met. His wealth of Leica knowledge is really impressive. He's also super friendly and so eager to show everything he's got lol. Visiting his store for the first time was like visiting an old friend I hadn't seen in 10 years. We couldn't stop geeking out about Leica together 😂

@@NoctiGirl I heard an update from the t "Lens shark" podcast today. The host vaguely said that Zeiss was still in the biz... but the quote he read didn't sound too convincing to me.
