not fair to buy a used product and call it shitty, if you’re going to be reviewing it and posting it, at least get a brand new one that isn’t pre beaten up
You said it's a "dry fork" inside and was carving up the seals. I've got the 36mm stanchion version and it's a grease-based fork. You put grease on certain areas, and try not to block the air spring equiliser groove. The rear injection holes are to inject 1mm of oil inbetween lower leg services, until you reach 5mm (write on a log on your workshop wall, or in your phone) and then you need a full lower leg service, stripping, cleaning and regressing. There's a new Bolany fork out 4 months ago (34mm stanchions in 27.5 or 29". The 27.5" is 580mm A2C and advertises 175mm travel, but mine only reaches 166mm and as a result the air pressure is far lower than the guidelines. Also the sag indicators on the stanchions have been printed upside down so completely useless even if I had the right amount of travel) Anyhow, their screw holes they say are for lubing the seals between services. The Durolux injection holes I'm not sure. Seals? Or lower legs in general, including bushings? The noise that used fork was making was atrocious. It's supposed to be a fairly quiet fork. Knowing how the fork is supposed to sound, I'd be thinking you needed a new damper, maybe even bushings and seals if the fork had been run dry and carved up inside until particles entered the damper and wasted it I've not taken the top caps off but interested to see there are tokens in there. You can Google them for sales, but in the country I'm living in spare parts (including different length air springs) are impossible to find for RS or Suntour. I'm going home in summer and will try to get some parts bought to take back with me.
Does you bolany fork felt better after injecting 1ml of oil inside the screw holes ? I have a chinese air fork too and it was really good the first time and started to quickly fade after some time. I wonder if injecting some oil there would help since it looks pretty easy
It's brand new. Two rides in. Haven't had time to let it go dry yet. I did inject it with 1mm of suspension oil on each leg for the second ride just to check if it was dry out of the box. I'd also dropped the air pressure at the same time due to the stated pressures being wildly wrong. Small bump response isn't good given it is so cheap. Ram into a kerb and it'll work okay. No topout with the damper adjusted appropriately. Action feels like a Manitou Markhour with the Kwiktoggle damper. Only time will tell.
Durolux 38 owner here. Mine does not make any sounds. And works okay for its price. Would love to ride the intend suspension but this costs three times as much...
You need to clean out the lowers really well and probably replace the wiper seals, normal skf 38 mm should fit. Lube up the top bushing with super slick suspension type grease and soak the foam rings with plenty of oil. You can run oil in the lower legs on the air side with out issues, but not on the damper side cause the damper sucks it up and then you end up with less travel and harsh feeling fork. Stock oil in the damper is 5wt so putting 2.5 wt makes them feel much better, damping adjustments are pretty much set and forget type of deal, you can play around with the shims on the mid valve but no much else. Often servicing helps with the longevity and performance. It would be cool to see if a custom sealhead with better seals can be made to be able to run lower leg oil in the damper side as well.
If you really want to know, how does a fork perfom, you must service before use. Even new ones. First you should check the lowers and the uppers with your front hub. It will be day and night if you shim (DIN988) out the hub for the less resistance. If it doesn't help bushing burnishing is the way to go. But that's expensive toolwise compared to the shims. That's the hack that everyone can do at home, who's confident enought to take a part their fork. You need to gut out the fork. Completely. Just the lowers (no foam rings, no seals) and the stancions into the bikestand. Actuate the fork and see how much resisence it got by the lower bushings. Than add you front hub (wheel) and torq it to the max of the axle. And repeat the the actuating process. If you feel resistance, add shims both sides. These shims comes in different thicknesses, 0,1mm, 0,2mm, etc. Put shim between the dropout and hub or under the dustcap (depending on your hub bearings and your taste). If you need less widht you need to sand down the dustcap. If this is ready, you can service your fork. This method will increase the fork performance to the max and depending on the front hub could result in a day and night experience. For the pro solution check out this guy: www.youtube.com/@olivermajewski/videos

Quick non-pro tip ... you don't need anything fancy to inject shock fluid into the uppers. Place the bike on its side, support the front with a box so the two injection ports are facing up. Loosen each in turn and use a cheap 2oz plastic syringe to inject 2ml of shock fluid into the uppers. Just jam it into place and the plastic tip will deform enough to create the seal you need.
Durolux owner here! Ive always loved suntour forks “the higher end ones” Ive never had rattle issues before but that chirp noise is normal for suntour forks as it was probably custom tuned. Don't mean to hate but what's exactly the point of this video? You buy used fork, don't service it (!!!), it obviously rides shitty, you make a video of it and at the end you service and the fork is a lot better? It's kinda like buying a trashed, 300k miles Porsche and complaining it drives shitty. Well, duh.
The problem with SR Suntour & DVO products is that they are poorly built from new, Especially bushings are not sized etc. DVO products Bought from DVO NZ feel absolutely amazing, They build every fork and shock they sell... Makes such a huge difference.
I purchased a polygon t7e from bikes online with a Suntour Aion fork. The fork has an irritating knock when riding over roots and rocks. Wondering if removing tokens might help?
That last clip at around 14:25 you nearly bottom the fork out just buy pushing into it. I'm fairly new to MTB, but I feel that being able to do that is not right(even on a heavy e-bike. Particularly with an air fork. Maybe someone could let mew know if this is normal though. I don't believe It's not like this with my fork(a fox 34 factory grip2).
Hard to follow video, Likly the damper has thick 10wt oil and running it without tokens was the best. I swapped over damper oil. And then it was to plush to run it without tokens , the time stamp you added. Last ride I added 2 tokens back in with the new damper oil and it just right. Your Fox takes 5wt oil nothing else so it’s easy to dial in it.
My fork was used as stated in the video. It’s unclear if it is better new since there is no un sponsored content on the web. If you finished the video it rode really good after servicing it.
My durolux doesn't sound like that. But, there is one big problem, the fork does not work in cool weather, even +5 degrees Celsius is cold for it, it is very sluggish, and as I understand it, this problem cannot be solved.. One more thing with compression: I found that high compression works the same as low compression on Fox? I compare it with my Fox 38 Factory, I don’t understand how to configure it.
Interesting about the weather. The stock damping fluid made this one ride good. Anything before the damping oil change to 2.5 was useless. After that service 5 lsc 2 hsc
I would do the same I do with all my fork lowers, a 15 min plunge in purple degreaser, cleanup and a nice powdercoat job. None of them survive the 50 hrs service unscaped 😈 Nice clunking, sounds just like a Judy 😂
I could never get my high end suntour fork to feel ok. Rebound was never fast enough, air pressure was either too high with a wall of resistance or no mid stroke. Just get a rock shox dominion or zeb select at that price range.
Basically you're acting like a Brazilian mtbiker complaining about non named brands stuff. It's the same bias: man buy used stuff, man don't service, man complain, man disappointed, man prefer named brand Fox stuff

The explosionpictures of the durolux are to find out, but i cant find the right spacer in the net. I ride SRS for the last 15years! Tipp: Always be sure, there iat enough grease and oil in it! They are sold all nearly dry.
Nice to see the difference after you serviced the fork. One question, the service you made was disassemble, clean, reassemble with new fluids and without new seals? I had a Durolux 36 (bought new) and it's hard to make it go all the way through the travel, lots of support. Differs a lot from the RS Lyrik with blows through the travel.
Yes, there is no parts to order, there is no service guide, there is no oil type to use and no support for home mechanic ing from Suntour at this time, they said it would change, but did not get me any instructions.
🤣 hey thanks for the laugh. Suntour is a powerhouse of manufacturing if they made a $1200 fork it would probably be as good as a fox. Building is junk is always the most challenging.
I have a Raidon 34 it's performance is great, definitely as good as my 2023 Fox 34, but the seals aren't as durable and the bushings are quite thin. Still.. Great performance from a cheap fork

You buy used fork, don't service it (!!!), it obviously rides shitty, you make a video of it and at the end you service and the fork is a lot better? It's kinda like buying a trashed, 300k miles Porsche and complaining it drives shitty. Well, duh.
Buy a Durlox 😎
Добрый вечер. Вы остановились на вязкости масла 2.5 wt ?
2.5wt and use a little gear oil in air spring to make loose go away . No use lower leg bath oil
@ thanks. I understand.

Try this video
The manual says 5cc in the lowers and says how to inject oil properly in the top ports
Luxurious 👍
is that creaking and popping sound also coming from the fork? just listening to it makes my skin crawl
Read the comments looks like most of the noise is normal and the other people had have same creeking
My friend has the 36mm version, it doesnt make those weird noises... i think your fork might be broken?
Possible. Said it was a used fork 3 times. Waiting for a response video of another fork bounced on pavement
@@OtterMTBtech Well even though its a used for doesnt mean it has the right to break... i guess the fork isnt that strong anyway
I'm was about to purchase this fork on the online shop. Fortunately I watch this video before I purchased. You save my money bro
My fork was used as stated in the video. It’s unclear if it is better new since there is no un sponsored content on the web. If you finished the video it rode really good after servicing it.
I run a new non clapped out version of this fork. It's actually quite good.
You clearly didn't finished or watched the video! You just saw the thumbnail! 😅😂😂
He didn't finished the video😂 @@OtterMTBtech
If it pukes out the seals then it could be due to excessive pressure buildup because you're running too much oil in the lower legs...
After that service 5 lsc 2 hsc
even with enticing prices for the dual crowns, suntour still has decades of dmg control before ill ever consider a set lol.
😆
I lived the same nightmare with my SUNTOUR RADION
I would do the same I do with all my fork lowers, a 15 min plunge in purple degreaser, cleanup and a nice powdercoat job.
None of them survive the 50 hrs service unscaped 😈
Nice clunking, sounds just like a Judy 😂
I have to run it again after the full service to see if the noise went away
swapped your fox for a USED durolux fork and giving it a shit review. you got scammed lol
😎
Durolux sounds like a vacuum brand, so the sucking is appropriate. 😂
😝
Durolux owner here, mine doesnt give out a sound like that...
I could never get my high end suntour fork to feel ok. Rebound was never fast enough, air pressure was either too high with a wall of resistance or no mid stroke. Just get a rock shox dominion or zeb select at that price range.
Hey same experience hints this video, damper oil fixed it all
I saw your conclusion, I’d still rather buy a comparable priced shock from another brand.

@@OtterMTBtech I saw that 🙌
Basically you're acting like a Brazilian mtbiker complaining about non named brands stuff.
It's the same bias: man buy used stuff, man don't service, man complain, man disappointed, man prefer named brand Fox stuff
Bro I built a repair manual and fixed the fork for other people struggling. Since Suntour wouldn’t give it to me. Thats Mercian 🇺🇸

Durolux 38 owner here too. Is here anybody who knows hiw to travel the fork from 180 down to 160mm? Is it maybe the same thing with the spacer like the older forks or the 36(i also own)... The explosionpictures of the durolux are to find out, but i cant find the right spacer in the net. I ride SRS for the last 15years! Tipp: Always be sure, there iat enough grease and oil in it! They are sold all nearly dry.
New air spring is how you change it
@@OtterMTBtech Bought a new Air shaft. Thx...
Nice brakes I got the mavens
Just the name, Sun tour
SR Suntour* I misspelled it like three times in 4 videos
Nice to see the difference after you serviced the fork. One question, the service you made was disassemble, clean, reassemble with new fluids and without new seals?
I had a Durolux 36 (bought new) and it's hard to make it go all the way through the travel, lots of support. Differs a lot from the RS Lyrik with blows through the travel.
Yes, there is no parts to order, there is no service guide, there is no oil type to use and no support for home mechanic ing from Suntour at this time, they said it would change, but did not get me any instructions.
@@OtterMTBtech that's a shame to hear

I made a video to fix it
Why review a Sr Suntour, when you clearly favor other brand names?
I'm shocked!
has any suntour fork ever not sucked?
🤣 hey thanks for the laugh. Suntour is a powerhouse of manufacturing if they made a $1200 fork it would probably be as good as a fox. Building is junk is always the most challenging.
I have a Raidon 34 it's performance is great, definitely as good as my 2023 Fox 34, but the seals aren't as durable and the bushings are quite thin. Still.. Great performance from a cheap fork
Why one would buy a “high end” suntour in the first place anyway?.. 🤷♂️
my 36 sound like that... after service the same ..
Did you ever fix it?
I agree suntour is cheap as it gets .. but it’s used.
Did you watch the end of the video?
Thing is not everyone is in the financial position to spend thousands on mountain bike components
That’s why I made a repair video for the fork, and fixed it, if you were able to finish the video 😎
Tthe fork is now destroyed by the rovk shox oil. Kills the seals apparently.
This is myth. I spoke with DVO about Rockshox oil. They saw some seal swelling in few forks from RS oil. So the myth is born.
I had not so amazing experience with Durolux 36 and as far as I can see, 38 is not much more better.
Hey I fully decided was hard fork. If you can get to the end of the video I swapped damper oil and it rode really good with lighter oil.
I use sram grease on it
Does it make that noise
The sound it makes when jumping is just awful 🤣 Supermarket damper
Fork was decent after damper oil swap will have to consort noise after the full service
If you bought used, service it, otherwise the review is COMPLETELY useless
If you finish the video, I get there 😎
I don’t care how it works, it’s ugly as hell.
Used and abused is what it is.
😎
this is very hard to watch as a mechanic lol
Cool
