I know this is an older song, but I love how all the overlapping gives the haunted effect and it all goes with Prometheus and Beloved, it's amazing. Excellent job
At last! A Ranboo song to go with the Tubbo song! I cannot express to you how cool this is! It's always fun to work on lyrics with you, then get a sound file a few weeks later with a song that sounds epic. There are so many cool sounding layers in this, and they're all clean and intelligible. And the song references you've slipped in! You've adjusted them beautifully to fit this tune and mood. Also, I'm a big fan of the percussion. It's just great. Seriously, this song is going to haunt me for ages, and I am not complaining!

There are so many, and it’s so satisfying to find all the ways this song connects to previous ones. It’s so much fun to piece together an extended universe of KoE songs with all the little details and easter eggs The first mention of glass doubles as both a metaphor for ranboo’s lack of clarity regarding his own condition and a reference to tubbo’s words in beloved. And the callbacks to beloved throughout this song were soooo good, ugh. I just- . THIS. All the emotion from beloved came back to smack me in the face again 😭😭😭 and seeing beloved from ranboo’s pov towards the end was a whole experience I never knew I needed Then the callbacks to Prometheus! At first is almost seems like a duet between a defeated, incarcerated ranboo and a confident techno come to rescue him, but I’m not sure that’s what’s going on. From the back and forth that immediately follows, my best guess is that it’s a conversation between ranboo and Sam. Especially in the light of the “is this what I asked for?” referring to ranboo’s previous pleas for Sam to put him in prison, I think this is a viable alternative. In this interpretation, Sam is the one using the language from Prometheus, referring to his guards as hounds, affirming his commitment to carrying out his warden ideology, and condemning ranboo to prison. The omission of “all is fair in love and war” can also be explained in this context, since Sam used underhanded tactics in kidnapping Michael to force ranboo’s compliance And the whole atmosphere is so on point here, my god. Compared to the driving percussion of Prometheus and the frantic piano of beloved, the slow, methodical plodding of this song makes it feel like a funeral march more than anything else. Combined with the hopeless, existential lyrics, this song conveys the themes of death and loss so well I’m not sure what the “iron can’t hold back all my tears now” is referring to specifically, but my god is that a powerful image. From what I can see, it’s a way of saying that the external conflicts no longer distract from internal ones. That since ranboo is in prison, he only has his thoughts for company. His iron bars separate him from the server’s conflicts, but they can’t stop the pain from his own thoughts And holy heck, the chorus SLAPS. Like, it’s a straight banger, no doubt about it. I simply don’t understand how you do it, first the bop of Prometheus, then the hauntingly beautiful piano in beloved, now this? Legendary I always look forward to your new songs, it’s clear how much effort you put into them, and they never disappoint. It’s always so much fun going through and finding all the little details you’ve put into these songs, and I love the way you use the songs as a medium of storytelling to expand upon the lore of dsmp

You got really close on the interpretation of the "Iron can't hold back all my tears" line. I intended it to reference the fact that even though Ranboo's now in prison and behind iron bars, the emotional weight of everything that's going on still crashes down on him. As for the inclusion of Prometheus, the first interpretation you put forth was what I was going for (with a defeated Ranboo just trying to survive and Technoblade preparing to come to the rescue). The following conversation is still the same characters, but now during the fight outside the prison, with Techno questioning why Ranboo won't listen to him and then begging Sam not to kill his friend and with Ranboo saying he can't do what Techno says because he has to protect Michael. But I also ADORE your Sam interpretation!! It makes it a mirrored and almost more ominous version of Prometheus, which is awesome!! I always love it when people catch all the references! It makes it feel like I'm watching people solve a fun puzzle! But I do have reasons for the lyrical and musical references between my songs beyond it just sounding cool :) I'm working on building a lot of these songs into a cohesive album, hence a lot of connections between the songs (especially this one since it will most likely be the finale of the album). So there will definitely be more Easter eggs to look out for in the songs to come. :)
