I have one in my front yard that was planted in 1968 according to my neighbors who said the developers had planted them throughout the neighborhood. They are quite messy in the spring as the cones will explode in the warmer weather leaving a carpet of pinecones petals everywhere. In the summer they release clouds of yellow pollen that set my allergies off in a frenzy for several weeks.
They do produce beautiful rose shape cones that I harvest in the spring for crafts by soaking in a 50/50 water and vinegar for a couple hours. I put them underneath my pellet stove to dry instead of the oven. It is quite lovely to see them open up and look spectacular with dehydrated orange slices and cinnamon sticks in a swag or wreath form.

Can Deodar Cedar grow in places where temperature reaches 45 degree centigrade during summer?

Yes , but would need a regular watering , and a cold winter (0-5°C or less) because it needs a temperature change during the year.

@@janjica7991 we have temperatures as low as 4 to 6 degrees every winter but not constantly. Daytime winter temperatures are generally 18-24 degree centigrade. Should I place it in full sun or go for partial shade.

If you keep it well watered (not too much but enough ) it would be ok in full sun in summer .But with those "hot" winter daytime temperatures I think that placing it in partial shade would be better to provide the tree a cooler and more wet climate . Anyway ,once established it looks incredibly beautiful as well as it is a very hardy tree and withstands nearly every temperature and condition. Good luck!

I forgot to ask you which size of tree are you planning to plant. Depending on that(if it's big ) you can forget all these special cares and just plant it anywhere

@@janjica7991 actually I collected a seedling from an alpine Himalayan forest in December 2017. That was probably 2 or 3 years old. It survived harsh May but unfortunately died in June because at our place June temperatures are moderate when it rains; and it boils like anything when it doesn't. Probably that one died because of root rot due to over-watering. You won't believe if I say that an alpine fir (Pindrow Fir, Abies pindrow) collected at the same location also surprisingly survived May heat. It even showed a vigorous growth in Blistering May heat but in June conditions, sudden weather change and root rot, consequently died. Now I'm planning to visit the state of Himachal Pradesh and buy a tree that's strong and tall enough.
