Thank you for this video Patrick. Extremely helpful - especially the 50hz tip. That and the -5db tip are just two pieces of LASTING KNOWLEDGE that every music producer should have. Your channel is incredibly consistent and we love your content. Keep it up mate!
The built in pedalboards are incredible! Not sure if GarageBand has it, but when Logic allowed you to use the individual pedals as separate plugins....game changer!
Thanks for sharing your tips Patrick, and there are a number of free Amp plug-ins and pedals out there that I think are great, if someone does not want to spend extra money. 🎸
Being a drummer and keysman first I struggle to control distorted sounds. I've also been seeking seemingly in vain a nice rich but smooth distortion so will give this a shot.....unless you can recommend a plugin for that? Cheers Pat 👍🎸
I’m not sure I understand any of this. When I record direct, I thought GB does not actually record any of the distortion, effects, etc., but just the dry signal. You only hear the distortion/effects when recording because they’re added AFTER the recording, but before the speakers. And then, once recorded, you can totally add/edit/change guitars sounds, effects, EQ, etc. AFTER recording, because only the totally dry signal is recorded?
Rhino is a pure beast! Tone bridge is great and used to be my go to, but Rhino wins out. So cheap , and once you get the hang of it, its pretty mind blowing! Good tips Patrick! Hope your well man.

@@rubbertoedesigns6134 GarageBand has great built in digital graphic EQ. Any guitar/bass sound you use when recording also pulls up knobs/interface to adjust its parameters like compression, echo, gain, etc. Right above all that is a small EQ tab. Click on that and it switches over to a dedicated digital graphic EQ.
I have a question, I was connected to my guitar to my phone by using an iRig. When I open up Garageband, I kept hearing this high pitched noise on guitar amps. How do I fix it?
@@terrykennedy-lares8840 Yes, you just have to know how to find it. Neural DSP has some crazy good plug-ins. They're not cheap, but they have a sale every year around Black Friday (you Brits don't know what that is! 🤣🤣) The tip about double tracking your guitars each with less gain is how a lot of "heavy" records are made. Many years ago, an engineer made me do it, and laying the first track was a soul-sucking experience, but when laying the second track, we monitored the first one, and as they combined, HOLY S**T!!! Less gain = less compression = more speaker excursion = more dynamic range. Those chugging 8th note power chords really hit you in the chest.

I'm loving the nearly the same riffs when you preview Tonebridge :). I love ToneBridge. I still use it in Logic.
This is what I been looking for
Nice one Patrick, solid advice 🤘
Dude, you are a god amongst mortals. This is exactly the piece I needed to unlock the puzzle.
Nice! I’m glad you found it helpful.
Great tips! Thank you… PS: 3:12 such great guitar sound!

You are correct. What he was mostly talking about in that situation was when you mic a dirty signal or are already running a dirty signal.
I use a third party EQ plugin that helps pretty well.
Nice! Which one do you use?

This is great, as I’ve started on my IOS GarageBand journey, I can’t find the N-Band equaliser in the App Store though

Quick eq question. How do you narrow the range of an adjustment without changing the amount of change?

Very interesting! Although, i can't find the EQ "N Band Equalizer" in Garage Band. Could you help me with that? Thank you very much!
Always wondered what guitar that is in ya left, squire jazzmaster? Or something else, looked a bit like a baritone bass vi I’m getting soon
Very useful, thank you!
Super awesome 🤘🎸
Is it Cambridge? I’m trying to get it on my Mac book air but I don’t know where to look
Great advice as usual Patrick…thanks 🤘
Thanks for watching!
0:34 anyone what these are called and where to buy them? And surely they work with iPhones right?
Idk 😅
does this work for MIDI?
Great video - thumbs up and thanks!
Appreciated! Thanks for watching 👍
I don't know what you are talking about I have Garageband on my Mac and the EQ is great. It's not just 3 points.
Correct, I say as much in the video. The visual EQ in GarageBand for iOS only has three EQ points.
