Thanks m8. My desk and floor lamp have made my office into an interrogation room at night. The ambient lighting trick will help keep me energized and comfortable!
My desk lamp is too bright. I followed your tips and had the lamp face upward to the wall. The whole office is warm and comfortably bright. Thanks for sharing this helpful tips!
I did that exact thing with my son's desk light, too! He refused to use it, saying it was too bright. I agreed it was very bright, so I turned the head of it to face the wall and the light is perfect!
Great stuff! I was looking for a way to make my newly natural-light-less office space more comfortable, and nothing else on UA-cam seems to just answer that simple question. You did so perfectly in under a minute. Many thanks!!! 😊
ohhh. reflected lighting reminds me of my universiry library. there was a large atrium that let in light and bounched off almsot all of the floors (eight of them to br exact) and the lighting at nighttime/areas that weren't hit by sunlight was very diffuse or reflected off the surfaces. i never thought of my library as a very well designed space until now!
@tanushreemanekar6183 lighting that shines upward from the floor to the ceiling, which is what i think OP in the video means by reflected lighting. for example, i point my lamp (its very harsh) at an angle to my wall so it reflects back to my desk and has the same effect
this was so helpful! i have been instinctively trying to achieve this in my desk space but couldnt figure out the cast shadows from my ceiling light! makes more sense now :)
It truly is the best! Have been lighting my office and living room with ceiling reflected lighting after working at an office with very well designed ultra diffused commercial hanging lights that bounce all the light up.
I figured that out while I was coloring a huge, intricate poster in Alaska over a six year span. It was about halfway through that, I had a lamp without a shade near a white wall... It was positioned just right, and cast exactly the right light. I've used that trick several times since then for other things, too. It is excellent lighting for playing board or card games in a living room with friends.
I have purchased a LED bulb dimmable by app, to use with non-dimmer-switch site lighting. Less than 10dollars for 2. It comes with both warm and cold color temperature filaments so it's full adjustable, without being annoyingly harsh coloured RGB LEDs.
In my personal experience, reflected light off the wall in front of you is even harsher than task lighting because it's pointed at your face. As you showed, reflecting off the ceiling is the way to go - probably why they sold so many "dish on a man sized pole" lamps before we started using LEDs for everything. That means that not all task lighting systems are ideal for reflected light.
I have my ring light facing the wall as recommended by a friend and was perfect when I used to stream. I still use it if my eyes are fatigued and I'm at my PC for long periods
I stumbled onto this accidentally when I installed an LED strip behind my monitor, the backlight could get so bright that it could effectively light up my room and I could ajust the color to between warm and cool to my prefrence. The softer reflected light made my workspace much more pleasant at night than the overhead booblight.
Do you have any opinion on cool white light vs warm white? In india they seem to be obsessed with cool white and I don’t understand why someone would want this in the home
I like how gentle you used to speak back then lol you're so mean now with your "fix it" series I get scared but this soft spoken advice is so nice to hear. (btw I'm not actually scared lol I'm being light hearted here)
You should be happy to know many places in America are pushing offices to be built to “well building standards”. They have a point system to earn your certification through different design elements. Indirect lighting and low glare lighting gains you a lot of points.
when I moved and the ceiling light wasn't bright enough, I got myself a standing lamp with twistable head and turned it up to the ceiling. it was my first apartment that I furnished myself and I figured out that was my favorite way of lighting. now I know why!
i hate light bulbs i do homeworks in the mornings turn all the lights off and very slightly open my window it makes the room fully bright but not hurt your eyes bright (i do not really have any other solutions)
Ye best lighting is sun. Get out and do things if you have the open spaces for it. Plus mental health is important. Study in your open balcony if possible. Open roof is the solution.
U can change your room light to cool white light it is best for studying . Table lamp are too concentrated n strong. If not you could instal a LED white light tube just above ur desk if you can.
Perfect timing. I’ve been thinking about what type of lighting i need WFH
I think he's using a floor standing torchiere.

Great plan for a windowless room! So much nice ambient light with reflected lighting!

According to studies, uplighting helps to increase productivity, so I would consider that for an office or study area
What is uplighting?
@tanushreemanekar6183 lighting that shines upward from the floor to the ceiling, which is what i think OP in the video means by reflected lighting. for example, i point my lamp (its very harsh) at an angle to my wall so it reflects back to my desk and has the same effect
Use translucent material to cover the lamp.
That's what I have done
Holy crap... I just flipped the light bulb and it worked wonders ✨️
Only recently discovered a home space which had reflected lighting!! It's so good!! Good to chill. Good to work!
Can you show how you reflected the light? Many thanks for all your videos they’re amazing and incredibly helpful.
I'm also looking for a video that shows how to do uplighting!
this was so helpful! i have been instinctively trying to achieve this in my desk space but couldnt figure out the cast shadows from my ceiling light! makes more sense now :)
the reflected lighting looks heavenly

I point my task lighting at the wall/ceiling and it's perfect lol
i just tried it. i agree. cloud lighting ftw!

Softly like a cloud... Yes!
thanks for the tip!
i accidentally discovered soft lighting a while back (i just point my desk lamp at a corner of my ceiling) and i really love it
Can you give examples of reflective lights?
Note for me
(Only direct and original spotlight for instrument or professional works.)
I have this for my room with a blue-tinted light. Feels so much less harsh.
Yes! I point my task lamp at the wall in front of my desk or use a torchère floor lamp with an up light onto the ceiling in my office.
This is so interesting!

Why do i always hear your vids ending with "now you know" even when i made to silent
Awesome tip! Thank you!
You have very helpful and videos. Thank you!
I like working in the dark. Its cozy
Best video for students
Yea the first one is the best
So What kind of lamp should I buy to make reflect light?
I used to do this! I woukd flip my flexible desk lamt towards the ceiling to get nicer light!
Reflected light so silly question but any source like lamp or ceiling pointing towards walls?
Do you have any opinion on cool white light vs warm white? In india they seem to be obsessed with cool white and I don’t understand why someone would want this in the home
cool white makes sense for studying since it increases attentiveness. for living room 3.8k-4.2k temps should be good.
personally i prefer 2700k
@@BlueRespectableOctopus But isn't cool white led light bad for eye while studying?
This! I thought I was crazy when I found this out. So it's actually a thing!!
I use ceiling, task, and reflected lighting for my workspace
You can also get dimmer and warmer light bulbs to decrease the harshness!
I like how gentle you used to speak back then lol you're so mean now with your "fix it" series I get scared but this soft spoken advice is so nice to hear. (btw I'm not actually scared lol I'm being light hearted here)
Exactly!
I use task lighting with smart bulb and adjust brightness and warmth according to schedule I have set up😊

now i know ... ! thanks for suggestion. any videos on room colors to give good vibes, relaxation feeling.
Warm Autumn colors work for me but idk if they would for you. Different shades of browns and oranges like autumn leaves falling :)
Oh I could do one....

Whats reflected lighting?
What are the names of the lamps you're using?
What book are you reading? Looks interesting!
best for doing art work too.
No wonder i love lamps that point at the ceiling..
Do you mind telling me where you got that mushroom table light from? Thanks!
when I moved and the ceiling light wasn't bright enough, I got myself a standing lamp with twistable head and turned it up to the ceiling. it was my first apartment that I furnished myself and I figured out that was my favorite way of lighting. now I know why!
this changed my life
Any link to the reflected light lamp?
I dont get the reflected lighting - should we buy a lamp or something?
it can be any strong light pointed at the ceiling so that the light gets reflected everywhere in the room
Is that an uplighter?
How about my dining room with a loooong 12 seat table
for working bulbsfull spectrum like on to computers
Thank you
Task lighting to light up the task, not your face. Move it. That spring arm isn't cosmetic, put it above your work and below your eyeline.
i hate light bulbs i do homeworks in the mornings turn all the lights off and very slightly open my window it makes the room fully bright but not hurt your eyes bright (i do not really have any other solutions)
yeah but what color
But you didnt show which light you used to reflect the lighting...
How to do it ?
I have a small dim ligjt,pointed to the book🎉
Just flip the task light towards the ceiling
What if your in a dorm with multiple people?
Best light for studying: sunlight. Because it is continuous like flame lights and thus personally keeps my work done.
Ye best lighting is sun. Get out and do things if you have the open spaces for it. Plus mental health is important. Study in your open balcony if possible. Open roof is the solution.
😂😂😂 means have to use both ! Ok i will follow your tevhnic 😅
whats the first lamp ??
First person who agreed with over lighting which feels depressing
What is reflective lighting?
Come on, fix it.
If Im studying or working, I cant stand ANYTHING being illuminated except what Im reading / working on. Light distracts my eyes!
Get a torchiere in your size😊
So….now I know! 😂
People before Wipro lamp was invented😂
Ah but see I have popcorn ceilings. I direct a bulb up to the ceiling all the light disappears as if into a black hole...
I think you can just reduce the power of the bulb used in the lamp
Then it will meet your needs
which lamp?
How?
This must be require some electrical work
@@gameseeker6307 You can use a dimmable bulb
@@Angela-cs8ic oh
Right
i use task lightning
Why cover the light source with text tho
😁
Ok so I bought one of these lamps and I've been staring at it for too long. Why the fuck does it look Iike that.
Link for reflecting light?
Huh? It's just any light. It's about where you point it.
Hehe
Why do you have all of them
I thought I only hate shadows
j just bought table lamp but it has strong light, the room is already lacking lights so ill try making the lamp cast on the wall in front of the desk
U can change your room light to cool white light it is best for studying . Table lamp are too concentrated n strong. If not you could instal a LED white light tube just above ur desk if you can.
Buy a translucent material to shade the bulb
Can you make a video on this
where's the cat
Bullshit. We use tubelights
Ok ok ok ok haha poop 💩
But how do i get reflected lighting? What do i need to buy , please help 🥹
