This video is very timely- I just installed my V-Expressions pro for the Mimic and i can appreciate how Alan has built and organized kits by how they are EQ’d and compressed. I went through every kit, played about 2 hrs, then went back and listened to my previous “go to kit” that i had actually gigged with. It sounded dead...unbelievable! My next project is setting up my Studiolive board with outputs from the mimic for live and home studio applications. Alan, I can’t wait for the next one..thanks again!
Thanks for putting this together... if for no other reason than to remind me why I'd rather have you figure out optimizing kits and I can just pay and play. :) I appreciate the general knowledge format.
Extremely helpful! I’ve just acquired the TD27 and look forward to when you create some kits for this (later this year?) ... in the meantime it’s given me a clearer understanding of the workflow to follow in the module and the limitations. I also use SD3 and your video is helping to reinforce the basics of drum production workflow in dealing with levels, instrument, buses and master.
Good Video. I totally understand now. I'll just keep using my TD-30 master L&R outs. We don't have a FOH guy unless we do Casino's. They don't mind me sending Master L&R. Thank's Alan.
And also being completely objective the samples are not that great. The choices they made in order to be flexible really decrease the quality of the base sounds. Plus probably their pitching algorithm are not great also. This doesn't prevent us to get good sounds though
Thank you sir. This video really helped me to achieve a better drum sound.

Wow this is really nice of you to do. I can't wait to learn.
Thanks for this, I learned a lot
Good advice! Good video! Thanks!
Roland has convolution reverbs. In the td 27 module both the overheads and rooms sections are convolution reverbs.
