I remember being a little kid sitting at the computer with my father. We would always watch random videos when UA-cam first blew up. I remember coming across this video with my father. The hype it gave us had both of us rocking out in an office chair 🤘🏼 always will cherish that memory

This guy is doing really well in taiwan's entertainment business as composer and song writer. Seriously he's really popular that I saw his name everywhere in popular chinese song. I thought that JerryC gotta be a different person from this JerryC, but I checked it up that they are the same person. One of the most famous song he did is 《小幸運 A Little Happiness》with over 150 millions view on youtube. Glad this guy is doing well~

In the year of 2010, When I by accidentally discovered this song "Canon Rock" while watching animations on the internet, i was immediately drawn to it. I clicked on the youtube link that lead me here and from then onwards, was the begining of my journey.
All day and all night for a full year i would be listening to countless canon rock tracks by Mattrach, Funtwo, Hackologue and JerryC, spending a few hours a day sometimes. I soon began to develop an interest in guitars and so i was then inspired to pick up the guitar with high aspirations of becoming like those guitarists.
Now in the year of 2015, After years of hard work, persistency and determination here i am now, the place where i have always wanted to be. After 4-5 long years of practice, i had finally done it, i am able to play this legendary son, Mattrach's new version, hackologues version and the original.
I had always thought that I'd be able to grow wings and breathe fire once I've mastered this song... but when i had mastered it, i felt nothing close to that. I realized that this stuff takes time, hard work and consistency, I could have easily given up because i didn't know how to play the song after months of expensive guitar lessons but i persisted and now it's more than just being able to play canon rock. It's the ability to entertain a crowd, an opportunity for success and so on.
5 years later, I am what i have aspired to become. I am standing with those who stood above me, if i could present myself now to my 11 year old self, he would be stunned and crying in awe.

This arrangement has been on another level since its inception. Especially the last part is even difficult to learn by ordinary guitarists.This must be the reason why many guitarist who cover this version invent different renditions in the last part.

I remember watching this exact video when I was in college. It was introduced to me by a classmate and since then, I was hooked up. I downloaded the tabs for the song, tried to learn it day and night using an acoustic guitar.

15 years ago I heard this song for the first time and was hooked. For some reason I lost it and never managed to remember what the name was. I couldn't fully remember the tune as well. Somehow... Somehow I heard like 3 notes of this melody in public yesterday and managed to find this masterpiece once again thanks to a kind person who answered my questions. I mean, come on. I never came across this song for 15 years. Not even the original piece. And still I recognized the iconic tone of that time.
Sometimes music just sticks with you. No matter how much time passes and how old you were when you first heard it. You will remember one day by just hearing a couple of notes.

I remember... Back in 2007, when i was 10 years old, I typed "guitar" on this brand new website called UA-cam. Hit 'enter', saw this, and clicked. I could never see what was coming. I was astonished. It made me feel so good and since then I started playing acoustic guitar. I still can't play well, but someday I'm gonna have guitar classes (when i can afford it) and keep trying to play this song, until i do it. Hope to post it here, when its accomplished

It's 2024 and I still haven't achieved this level of proficiency in all my attempts at shredding since I was a beginner in the 1970s. Much respect! At my best, before leaving my last band more than 20 years ago when my wife's health was declining, I was almost this fast and my style of playing included mixing power chords on the wound strings with sweep arpeggios on the plain strings for punctuating my rhythm guitar with lead guitar licks.
The first time I watched this was in the summer of 2009, and now I'm watching it again in early 2022.
There is always a memory in every melody.

When I first saw this in 2008 I had been playing guitar for 8 years at that point and had run through all the most challenging Guitar World, Guitar One and Guitar Technique tabs. I thought I was the shit until I saw this. This was the first online guitar video I watched and I knew this was the start of something amazing. Something new that I had never heard before in the realm of shred guitar. I had been playing Canon in D on classical guitar for my wedding gigs but this humbled me. I had never heard anything so outside the box, so creative so fckn amazing.

To me, this will always be the best version of Canon Rock. It's possible the reason for that is this was the first version I had ever seen, but I don't think so. Not only does it sound amazing, you can tell how passionate he is for the music and how much he feels the music by watching him play.

I agree. I don't know if it makes sense but I feel more emotion from Jerry's version. Not taking anything away from Funtwo though. Both are amazing, just that this one edges it for me.
