Thank you. I don't know if I've ever said thank you in another thread but THANK YOU again. I watch so many of your videos and your videos make the game better for me. Even when I'm not playing I can be immersed in the game with you. It's like watching a news real on the latest advancement or tech. You dedicate so much time and do such an impressive job with every video!

Remember, FDev are going to increase the Core Fuel Tanks on the Orca and Beluga.
I'm using an Orca at the mo as a fast cargo ship, though I did get it out of curiosity and with an eye to the upcoming passenger missions.
Level 2 engineer mod on the FSD has range up to just under 20ly though it is quite thirsty.
Level 1 mod on A rated thrusters and unladen speed is 365 with boost at almost 450
So it can outrun pretty much any AI ship before the shields start showing any damage.
Frontier should add a "super luxurious passenger cabin" and a very rare mission where you transport either the federal or imperial leader that pays 500 million up to 1 billion credits depending on distance. Keep in mind this mission would most likely only have a .5 to 1 percent rate for appearing
Love the orca! She's a good little boat! That tac paint job needs a little more work, though... very splotchy.
Around 40 plus light year jump with a good roll on grade 5 engineered and lightweight modded sensors with more. This ship is great with the proper engineers. Perfect for medium range to long range sightseeing & adventure vip missions with a 12 passenger first class cabin.

Given the amount of passengers you can cram into that thing, there really isn't a reason to splurge on a Baluga. Many of those passengers will want to go to different destinations anyway and they start complaining if you detour too much.
I'd like to see you try some combat with that turret setup! :D Because all the weapons are on the belly of the ship, you have to keep the enemy below your field of view to actually hit them. That mean that in a turning battle you'll be diving down instead of pitching up.

This is good news.... the Orca was pretty, but really had nothing to do until now!
Nice ship- had only one run in so far with it when landing at an orbital station- unfortunately it got stuck in the gateway and no ships could come in or out!
i always use burst or pulse since they can be refited the most

The Orca will be the passenger ship I purchase in the live server. The Beluga is nice, but the 7A frame shift drive costs 50 million, which is way beyond my bank balance.

would be cool to see cryo-chambers, something that can store a lot of people (same amount as economy) and those people wont get unhappy if youre shot or scanned or whatever. but obviously the people using cryo-chambers wont pay a lot.

I love the Orca, but the FSD needs a buff. It just make no sense to me that you cannot bring passengers further away.
Frontier must have made some adjustments to things since you made this video; I built this module for module, and am getting an un-engineered jump range of just shy of twenty-two and a half light years (22.43).
Aye, they did... the Hull mass was reduced and the internal slots were unlocked.
I'm a little surprised that you didn't high-lite on the fact that it now has a 32T Fuel tank in 2.2 as opposed to 16T, which is a HUGE DIFFERENCE!

i was intrigued to buy a orca just for the nice looks of cabin but now with the passenger missions and nerfed sothis/ceo i shall fly an orca.

I want this ship for exploration and passengers purposes.
I'll have mine in about a day or so, given I don't have Horizons or anything so I can't land on planets. With Ceos and Sothis, I figure running cargo would make it pay for itself and then some.
UPDATE:
Ended up with a bounty and lost it to the space prison so I'm back at the starting location. Pissed.
CONCLUSION:
Not fucking worth it.
Does a fighter make the type 9 more defendable. does it allow you to destract the ai while the type 9 turns
yes it does...but it probably will not prolong its lifespan.
Yeah I bought it on the fact that no one uses it not because of cargo capacity. Everyone I play with use the Anaconda and I didn't want to be another. I fitted it with a 6A prismatic and I'm going to add alot of hull reinforcement. Just so I'm not a pushover I can already take out all ai ships except the anaconda without help.
I don't understand why people put weapons or utilitys on passenger runnres.The whole nice-to-have stuff reduces your jump range by a ly or two. If i make ~300 jumps an evening that's a dozen saved.
Forgot the Orca when the only thing for what is good at is release... Poor orca :)

the FSD range MUST be increased or the long-range missions are impossible with this ship.
could always engineer do a Grade 5 Engineer mod on the FSD. If you want longer range I'd outfit an exploration Anaconda in that case
you can't do luxury passenger missions with an anaconda. even maxed out with mods, an orca won't go above 22 lyrs per jump. These passengers routinely want to go thousands of light years.
Luxury passengers are too demanding & get unhappy quick from what I have seen. I'd rather go a few thousand lyrs on my own for the peace and quiet.
sure, all I meant was that the Orca is STILL useless. If you are going to do passenger missions, you don't want a crappy FSD range, so you're going with the Beluga. There is no point to the Orca.
FD may buff it again cause they did put a bigger fuel tank in it, so who knows.
Are passenger modules limited to specific ships or can any ship with at least a Tier 4 untility slot use them? Could I , for example, fit them on my Cobra 3?
The only limits are that only the Beluga and Orca can fit luxury cabins... Every ship with at least a class 4 internal can fit Economy, business and first class cabins... In fact I have a video going out tomorrow about it
Really the fer-de-lance should also have luxury cabins as well, because its a "yacht", or at least thats what I read in the book "Wanted"

Is the orca cheaper in the beta than the main game? I'm not talking about the 10% reduction that every ship has in the beta, but the prize this ship will have when the beta goes live. 48mil seems a little bit much...

No, they are passengers... And they will jettison themselves if they're unhappy

No. They are almost kinda like data. Don't weigh anything but they do take up passenger seat slots.
It's jump range just seems awful.
