- Greetings, I'm Jamaican Bassist Glen Browne and today I'm sharing with you how I played the bass line for "Capture Land" by Chronixx.
In the video I show you the technique I used to create that round punchy sound with my bass (Guild Pilot 5 string).
I also mention some of the gear the producer (Phillip "Winta" James) used when recording my bass at the studio, those are listed below.
Since we never played any part of the original song in the video a link is included below so you can hear the bass line in context and follow along.

Greetings Curtis, Give thanks for your comment. It's good to know that you are listening and paying attention to the expressions of our music. However, you must realize that our music has lots of influences including rock and I think that is one of the reasons it appeals to Americans and Europeans, especially the generation that are lovers of Rock Music. Hardcore Reggae which comes from deep cultural expression as in African rhythms like Cumina, Buru and Nyabhingi lays the foundation for Reggae music, Rock Steady and now Dancehall. I still have a lot to learn as I go deeper but it is the soul of our people. And we take the responsibility of keeping it pure and give it a unique voice in all the world of music. Give thanks again. One Love

@@GlenReggaeBasslines Thank you. Blessings
Greatness. less up teacher.
Hey What is the 30 must learn Bass lines for Reggae? Thanks
I won't give you 30s but you will find that and more if you look in this direction - Most of Bob Marley and The Wailers catalog (especially lines by Aston "Family Man" Barrett), Peter Tosh (lines by Robby Shakespear & Fully Fullwood), Studio One catalog between 1969 through mid 1970s. And research songs played by Jackie Jackson. That should keep you busy. Blessings
Thank you Bassie ! Used to see you a lot in LA w Ziggy, I got to know Chris Meredith but never met you. As a Bassie myself, nuff respect and I know that Guild bass through dem SWR speaker !!! Big ups !
Nuff Respect. Those Jams were great man! Hope we can cross paths in the future
Yeah, the thumb! I try to use it more often to see how it affects the music and the vibe👍thank you
3:23 sound like barefoot on tile floor 😊
That thumb sound scared the crap out of me.
Please tutotial reagge bass music tarus raily
Yes Ventura, I have two tutorials with Tarrus Riley songs coming soon (September 12 & 19). So clic the bell to get notified when those are posted. Give thanks.
Hi Glen, do you always play muted? Bless
Not always, depending on the song or the genre. If the song asks for a percussive line, more than likely I'll mute. Especially if I want a nice fat Reggae sound. Too much sustain isn't good for that. Bless
I see. 😐
Big brother please play More the bass you talk to much than you Play 😂✌🏾
Yes I 👍💥 thx
