I’m grateful this small documentary was made while these participants were still alive to speak directly, themselves, about this classic film.

And I’d want Andy Serkis to play Gort using motion capture.

Never saw " the Earth Stand Still" . Have seen both versions of " The Day The Earth Stood Still ", but have never seen " The Earth Stand Still". Copyright dodging? Or just stupidity?

I suspect that you are right. There are many who hide bad things behind good word.
The phrase "peace offensive" sounds like something from Goebbels or the Ministry of Truth.

The man did not love Communism - he hated McCarthyism (as any sensible person would). He produced a classic film, one of the greatest science fiction films of all time. With that in mind, it's a pity you fixate on your confused interpretation of his personal politics instead of the work itself.

Why is it that any discussion about people pulling together, about there being a meeting ground for people to work out their problems with deep concern about trying to evolve the human race, gradually, over time, thru mutual desire to make life on this planet an increasingly free, "pleasant" (for want of a better word) , and safe place to live, create and enjoy is greeted with knee-jerk hostile reactions on the right, and maybe even on the left? If we never find a way to bury our differences, never stop acting divisive at the mere suggestion of "improving" life here, over time, what's the point of having life at all, if there is no hope, no belief in aiming high? It's too easy to dismiss these goals and attach left-right labels, when, after all, we all DO basically want the same thing, don't we? The hard work is to let go of labels and get on with figuring it all out. But maybe taking that task on fully,, seriously and with conviction is just too hard to muster. Maybe it's just too damn easy to be angry and to blame others. Or maybe people find it a kind of perverse form of "fun" to be contrary and cynical.
