Calvin Harris has the best voice in the dance music industry, he's honest, his tracks are amazing! Just shows(good listen here) your an amazing all around artist.
Jian is AWESOME! He always seems to get the best out of the people he interviews. Harris shows a lot of humility in this interview. He certainly comes across as very likable!
What a great interviewer. Genuinely interested in the interviewee and engages with his responses. Zero ego and no bullshit agenda to use this opportunity to promote himself or the company he works for. Really enjoyed this, fantastic stuff.
17:33 I think when you have a lot of innovation at one time that’s how you start a golden age. That’s probably why internet, movies, games etc. were so good during the late 2000’s and especially early 2010’s because so many people were doing different things all at once.
not a big fan of his music or much of the mainstream pop out there, but i admire his honesty and he doesnt seem to be putting on a front like alot of musicians out there
I think EDM blew up because if you look at some of the EDM centres (US not included). Miami, Ibiza, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Sweden, France, Holland all non-english speaking countries. With instrumentalists like Avicii, David Guetta, Afrojack, Calvin Harris. You don't need to download the lyrics and loosely translate them via Google. Instrumental tracks kind of broke the language barrier of Rap, Pop, R&B etc.
24:55 "I never mention anything to do with drugs ever in any of my songs" "I've got my drugs, and my stuff, and my pills (when I go to Vegas) Alright" "Merrymaking, drug taking, At my place, baby, at my place"
0:41, clearly irritated by the fact that the interviewer seems te think that calvin only uses guestsingers for vocals, not realizing he has already done a lot of singing himzelf..lol
Wish Calvin had shut that Deadmau5 talk straight down!!! Here in the UK we've been raving in basements for 20+ years DJ's have always been gods!!! And now I'm hearing American artists talking about Ibiza like it's there back garden!!! Late to the party people!!! And it ain't a EDM record it's a house record...We got at least 10 types of dance music in it's homeland!!! Fucking Guetta's sold us out!!!
Holy crap I've got a lot in common with this dude. I much prefer his early shit to be honest. When I go to Vegas! Starting from 22:00 is genuine awesome. "We all know that all reviewers are failed musicians." So much truth. (CBS audio engineers say the same thing)That clicky thing that happens in niche music, can be totally dysfunctional.
Yes. Depends on how many oscillator voices and how much detune you use on each synth, but it usually takes 3-6 layers with the same ADSR to create that sound. Usually bused together and run through some compression, various colouring (tape saturation etc. I love me some PSP Vintage Warmer) and then delay/reverb. Also sidechained to the kick.
This is without a doubt his best interview. He’s a huge inspiration
Yep, he says a lot of inspiring things in here.
@@SSBBMario301 he and guetta are literally the best in the game when it comes to eletro
@@readyfxrtheweekendx absolutely. They dominate all of EDM radio.
The guy has an incredible life. Most people can only dream of having that much success in doing something they're passionate about.
Dreams can come true
Never give up on your dreams you might just find them
So laid back - and down to Earth - I like him!
Yes so humble, he mentioned his mom's cat :-)
"I dunno really, I'm just winging it." Such a boss.
That interview is so fire! As an upcoming artist it's just so inspiring. Such an idol.
Calvin is INCREDIBLE ! This was great to watch
"it died. shortly after listening to the second album." best interview ending EVER
Wow, this interview got me to see the man behind the music. Great guy, very humble person, and very talented person who doesn't try too hard.

this guy was really nice. i met him at Tropicana field when he played there.
not a big fan of his music or much of the mainstream pop out there, but i admire his honesty and he doesnt seem to be putting on a front like alot of musicians out there
6:47
Happening with Instagram and youtube at the moment.
Too many ads means people will leave the social media platform
Dude seems sooo cool!
Great? Yes i'd say so. Jian is the best Canada has to offer! Any Canadians out there think otherwise?
the cat died! Gosh, he said that with a straight face. LOVE him, great attitudes toward life.
that interviewer is cool as f*ck
Jian Ghomeshi is such a class act interviewer
14:45-14:55 nailed it
6:00 every artists/producer/DJ/singer/Rapper's dream
I Created Disco = Amazing. Calvin should never stop singing!
Inspired
Really like this! :)
I didn't realize how cute and laid back Calvin Harris was😉😘
2nd album is insanely good... he knows it and wants more credit for it

wow. what a cool guy.
Seems like a genuine good guy.
10:00 till 17:00 min concept key pop song
good questions
Very detailed and intense 💋
OMFG when he said David Guetta like David GWETTA!!!!!!!
nice questions
His Funk Wav Bounces is uhmaaaazing
He is so funny
He seems to be a really nice guy!
Oh and he's the highest paid in the industry this year, 31 is just a popularity comp, just a # bro
Miami is in the U.S.
also i love the awkward ending of the interview.
"your mums cat doesn't get the private audience anymore"
"he died"
"oh"
XD
He talks like he is stoned lol
24:55 "I never mention anything to do with drugs ever in any of my songs"
"I've got my drugs, and my stuff, and my pills
(when I go to Vegas) Alright"
"Merrymaking, drug taking,
At my place, baby, at my place"
Maybe those are songs he made after he did this interview, or maybe he didn't write them himself.
*****
Yep. To be fair though, he doesn't play those songs in his sets anymore.
***** i'm not alone is house :(
***** ah...
0:41, clearly irritated by the fact that the interviewer seems te think that calvin only uses guestsingers for vocals, not realizing he has already done a lot of singing himzelf..lol
CALVIN HARRIS IS SCOTTISH! Why does that make his so much cooler,
I.......am.......in......love.......with him.
i really liked his first album. i know i sound like a hipster but his first record sounded waaaay better.
Just think, this guy makes millions because he went out and added people that he saw on a strangers top friends on myspace.
That is how you end an interview
Nobody heard my music besides my moms cat , haha so humble.
Interesting! :D
24:56 not entirely true. unless i've been mishearing the lyrics to vegas
how come he isnt in dj mag top 100? he should be
"i have very long arms" haha
after this interview Calvin went looking for his Dumfries accent :/
#31 on the top DJ list... #1 highest paid dj according to forbes
in that case, ill take 31 any day
LMAO, Cal said lugging around gear and still didn't get signed... truth...
beat sync is annoying because it puts people off from using midi even though beat sync is optional
Nice to hear he's lost his Dumfries accent. Apart from when he's at home.
Jian is canadian
why doesn't anyone ask him how he get his stage name?
I dig he sings on his tracks it's good too why not sing there your tracks you wrote
My mistake I was typing, not thinking.
Calvin Harris and Jay Kay would be an interesting combination.
Fucking Guetta's sold us out!!!
why does he sound like old greg?
29:03 how to kill the mood in 5 seconds
Is it me ,or does he sound slightly high throughout this entire interview.
Magali Roccuzzo yeah I guess
Cute
Should try and skrillex
"Failed musician, playing in a band for fifteen years and lugging drum kits around to small shows and still not getting signed" FCKING HILARIOUS
Hey, Calvin, you're good. Do your stuff on your own, it's better than compiling with those fake artists
Holy crap I've got a lot in common with this dude. I much prefer his early shit to be honest. When I go to Vegas! Starting from 22:00 is genuine awesome. "We all know that all reviewers are failed musicians." So much truth. (CBS audio engineers say the same thing)That clicky thing that happens in niche music, can be totally dysfunctional.
people are tired of boring tastless foulmouth mainstream rap thas why edm has taken over
whats ironic is the interviewer is canadian :P
he looks like sebastian vettel. :D
The interviewer hasn't got a clue man, do your research beforehand!
david goowaattaa
14:50 Cheap sounding synths... lol, two years later he released summer with those exact synth sounds.
It sounds like some cheesy microkorg setting
(BTW He does actually have a MicroKorg, well he did at the time of the song)
could be a water bottle lol
This guy looks like Sebastian Vettel
random post but hasn't calvin harris got great teeth!!!!!!!
