I'm 53 yrs old, an I must be honest, the 80's had the best variety of great music, long live the 80's
RIP Domino 📻 105.9FM
I'm 53 also and I miss it so much
With you! 💯
October 02, 1970 (yes that’s Sting’s birthday too! 🤓)
I disagree. The 70s was the best decade for music IMHO.
I'm 69 and though there's a lot to be said about the music of the 60s and the 70s, I don't think you can beat the music of the 80s and Phil Collins was a part of many of the great musicians and songs of that era
No comment required.
Phil Collins is a gift to humanity.
If you're not haunted by this song, something is wrong with you. This is Phil at his best and a master song writer.
Without a doubt. The best of the best could take social issues and make them top 10 hits. Unfortunately, this song is as true today as it was the day he wrote it, except I think the road has gotten a little longer...
Classic Phil when he's deeply locked in!!!! His tone is memorizing to say the least!!! The drums bring it home to me
His songs are just amazing
I try and try but still look away...😔
O tak prześladuję od dawna o wielu wielu lat......Ale ja to lubię.......
You know you've made it when Sting does backup vocals on your album
I thought the whole time that I hear Sting. So I was not wrong with my belief. He is my favorite singer of all time.
Phil Collins already made it when he was the drummer for Genesis, which was even before Sting and the Police.
He's a living legend.

My mom just passed away yesterday. I've been listening to this over and over. My way of coping I guess.
✌️☮️🖤
Condolences my friend ❤
@@craigoriopequeño505 thank you!
Reminds us of our own mortality. I see why you have listened to it non stop.
My condolences on your loss.
@@user-yc2oz8kc5k thank you. This song was on my mind immediately after she passed. It touches the soul.
Something so incredibly beautiful that my heart just breaks....
This is, hands down, my favorite Phil Collins song.
and with my fave artist singing backup too!!
Beautiful and very,very touching song❤
@@stormy7722 I feel you. Same. It's too much for the heart to take. Perfect collabo.
it is hard to pick a Phils favorite song lol!
This man is a legend. This song haunts my soul.
Hopefully in a good way 💞
Best track Phil ever did. Stings harmony penetrates the soul.
Perhaps the most primo harmony I have ever heard and a great reason why I have this ditty on loop, especially how the song builds up to it, in addition to the sustaining intense echo of those voices afterwards.
Literally, One of Phil's most underrated work, and tracks. Amazing how time flies, and how this song never gets old. Long live Phil Collins, a legend forever. A true inspiration, and what a legacy. 👑👑👑
Facts!
wise words
Heard this song when the album was released and I was 14 years old. Commandeered the LP from my Dad and never gave it back because of this song. Still gets me even today so many years later.
Miami Vice and Cold Case scored major episodes with this track, it is still a masterpiece. I used it in for key scene in a script writing classes and with little dialogue, this did it conveyed emotion and backstory for the character and explained her actions in the scene.. It has that timeless ability to move audiences and convey emotion to all ages. Prayers sent to Phil Collins.... Your music has moved generations.
still fresh That Sound, in 2023
The use of this song in Miami Vice turned what was an excellent, yet sad season finale into a powerful season finale. Way way ahead of its time.
Indeed. Believe me when i say that this sadness i can feel so far and still lingers
It also was on Cold Case 💞
Very true
Good episode.
I can still see the lights reflecting off Crockett's Daytona Spyder replica. 13 year old me wanted that car something fierce. We all thought Fonzi was the epitome of cool at the time. Then Miami Vice introduced us to Crockett and Tubbs. Cool and drip has never been the same since.
Phil I'm sending prayers and healing to you. Please remember you've touched so many lives with your beautiful music. You are the greatest of all times. We love you 💞
Te amamos por siempre 💯🇦🇷
Good comment
Amen.
I can hear the magic between Phil and sting vocals. Beautiful 😍
I was 21, living out in my own, young, lost and unhappy. Played this song on my record player in my little, dimly lit bedroom as I laid on the bed. I still remember.
that's me right now, same age, same situation, doing the exact same thing as you back then
Hi from Moscow, Russia. I'm 40 years old. Phil's music is supporting me since 1993 year, when I was 13.
Same here
seems more and more applicable..... let's pray for your part of the world. TURN IT OFF.
You were born when I was 18. The 70s and 80s in America were amazing....😊
Phil Collins is a legend. He kept Genesis on the map all whilst building a massively successful solo career. Long Long way to go is as relevant today as the day he wrote it...
Phil is definitely a legend, however, Genesis kept Genesis on the map. Phil contributed to Genesis as well as Mike and Tony! Totally different sound and band. Just like Mike did with the Mechanics.
Definitely agree
A true legend. ❤never stopped listening to phil, and never will.
Phil Collins duet with Sting, and Peter Gabriel at the end.
Masterpiece!
This is quality, they don't make music like this anymore.
@archtopone people don't pay for music anymore
Emotional relief, freshness, enthusiasm, creativity and inspiration this is the 80s.
Visionary of what we are seeing now.
That's Facts 😊👌
Sure it is, lots of phenomenal music is being made today. It's just not in the main stream music, so you have to digging for it.
Was used on an episode of Miami Vice as were a lot of his songs. ❤❤❤
Yes! One of the saddest episodes I've seen! I was very young but I remember dozing off while my mom watched it.
i heard it on days of our lives lol
Bo and Hope lol
he was even in a few eps.
...and "Cold Case!
Using this song was an incredible way to end the season. Miami Vice was doing things back in the 80s and taking risks that TV does now on a regular basis.
This, to me, is the best song on this album. Love Sting's background vocals.
This is pure genius. Haunting music and the message is more relevant now, than it was in the 80s. Considering how far we should've come and haven't. Which is the sign of a quality song writer. Plus Sting's voice is perfect for it too. These types of artists don't exist now.
That's true.
I miss our great artists - Freddie,David Bowie, George Michael,Tina Turner...
Thanks God we still have Phill or Peter Gabriel
Especially with wanting to switch off, turn off and look away from all the bs these days.
Well said. I play it for people I consider close. If they don't get it...not really close then are they?
This was the first album I ever bought in my life. I was 12 and listened to this album repeatedly. This song in particular was my favorite. Thanks Phil !
My mom got this for me when I was 6 & Also listened to it till I wore that cassette out! From then became a Collins, then Genesis fan to this day! Thanks Mr. Collins!
What’s you guys’ reactions to the album covers being updated?
@Edgar Nash Yo, on a fucking Phil Collins video?, fucking bots i tell you
@ David Attias Very Cool! Excellent choice for a first album!😍
@@finley_seth I love it. Some celebrities try and hide their age. Phil shows that he's gone a long long way to go.
Today 3-01 -2024 I heard Phil just performed a goodbye concert to his fans he looked so frail and thin. I grew up listening to genesis and him solo. This song always stood out. It still socially relevant.
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
One of the gems from No Jacket Required. Phil's music has been part of my life since I was 8 in 1989. A legend and still very underrated by many.
Incredible song. This album is my favourite of all time. 😍
My father brought me up listening to Phil and I had the privilege of seeing him perform in London on my 25th Birthday, such beautiful music made by a LEGEND
sting doing the backing vocal here, this is so amazing. collins is a music genius, very nice stuff.
For people who don't know Phill Collins, you don't have to listen to he songs, you need to feel them. Good luck. ❤❤❤❤❤
The seeds of Another Day in Paradise can be heard in this song. Both are magnificent stand-alone songs.
Beautiful song especially with the mix of voices from Sting and Phil Collins.❤️🎶🎧
♥️♥️♥️
Oh Yes both awesome also in live Aid '85
I have a feeling the song would survive -- w/o Sting. No offense. Sting is cool.
Sting did another song with him which was used in Miami Vice. A long long way to go. I think it's called.
@@cassiequick195 this is the song.
This song made the loss felt by Ricardo Tubbs felt so real, shattering heart.
And it also made how pure and genuine the sincerety from his colleagues, especially Sonny Crockett.
I used to fall asleep to this track as a kid,, so literally this track hits home big time.. thanks for the great nostalgic feelings Phill
Very cool
Hope the opening to the next track didn’t startle you back up 😳.” I Don’t Wanna Know “ another should have been a single off NJR .
Me too!
@@asqueakyfoot hi
Quad 5 😆I can hear it right now.. that loud snare ..and yes it did,, only because I forgot to loop the track on my 💿 player.
I was introduced to this song on the soap opera Days of our Lives. They played all kinds of Phil Collins tunes. Memories of the 1980's. I can't get enough!
This song creeps and slithers through the depths of your soul, touching all those places inside you that you’ve thought were suppressed.
Quote. Notable statement.
I'm 15 years old & I've been binge watching the classic TV series Miami Vice..the episode Sons and Lovers brought me here.
Damn good show!
Also you may want to watch Cold Case Season 2 episode 9.(Mind Hunters) 💞
The great episodes of Miami Vice stay with you for a long time. There are definitely some misses but the good ones, wow.

Yep I did 🤗
This song is helping me cope with seeing the havoc in Los Angeles right now... I feel somehow comforted by these words. My mental state is bothered by all I see everyday - the homeless wandering, the crime, the hurt, the lies of the politicians.... long looooong way to go...
that's why I left San Diego couldn't take it anymore
Get out, for your safety and sanity.
Masterpiece with the mystical beats....beautiful.
Phil owned the 80s
Such a haunting, beautiful song.
Life is Precious .... tell people you love ~ You LOVE them
I remember hearing this song in a Miami Vice Episode as a kid. Phil has such a good voice
I was a fan of Phil Collins since I was 13 years old when he was with “Genesis”. I had bought his solo albums when I was stationed in Germany (West Germany). I still have his albums almost 40 years later. His music is mesmerizing…
First time hearing this masterpiece is on "Cold Case Season 2 : Mind Hunter". What an enchanting song. Phil is a legendary wordsmith, writer, performer, and arranger.
TRY MIAMI VICE EPISODE SONS AND LOVERS
Me also. I thought I've heard all his music. But he surprise's me all the time 💞
I immediately looked this up after watching this episode on "Cold Case"too!
@@Poohbabegurl it fit that episode perfect. I'm surprised that episode didn't get an award.
@@skylisszthecolossusepisódio perfeito, pra mim está em número 1 da série!
Divine Song! I love you Phil Collins, with all my respect!
64 now , and seems we still have a long way to go. Seen too much evil my whole life. Only the love of my life, my wife Lisa keeps me going.
That's so nice to have Lisa
1985. I was 19 and in the Air Force and this song ruled the airwaves.
I went to see Genesis about 35 years ago here in Miami and I loved them. Would love to see them again.
We Can't Dance tour was the last I saw Genesis. Saw Phil the next year, Both Sides tour. Not again till last October in Denver, Still not Dead yet tour Fantastic concert!
I saw a Phil Collins at the Irvine Amphitheatre in Irvine California 36 years . We had third row, center seats. It was one of the best nights of my life. I love his music.
this is not genesis
Maybe their doing a 2021 tour
J'ai les larmes aux yeux j'ai 59ans aujourd'hui ça me rappelle époque superbe single je suis senegalais
I believe that somewhere in the world, there are people who feel the same emotions that I feel when I listen to masterpieces like this song.
For sure my friend.
You are so right with your comment
There was something very unique bout the music of the eighties. It was a mood and a trance like state it would put you in. The incredible variety of talent, dont think we will ever see it again.
Music doesn’t get better than this, Phil and Sting harmonise so well together.
The nostalgia hits so hard listening to this song. Thank you for all the music Phil, your solo work and Genesis are some of the best music ever.
My fave harmony.
I love this song so much i play it over and over ❤
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
One of the best songs. Love the synth patches.
When you think everything is great in your life and the world...Listen!
I was in my second year studying politics. I was writing a very stupid assignment on some useless topic. Music was playing in the background.
"While I'm thinking of things to say"
For the first time I actually listened to the song.
"While we talk and talk and talk some more, someone's loved one's heart stops beating in a street somewhere"
It expressed, and still expresses, the deepest emotion I have towards politics in general, but also towards my inability to convince anyone on anything.
We discuss and argue and write stupid assignments. And all for nothing when when we fail to actually make a difference.
"So it seems we've still got a long long way to go"
I got iust one word for this song
Masterpiece
It reminds me driving through the night to go to see my mother. May her soul RIP ❤.
This has got to be one of the best albums mr Collins has recorded!!
Incredible ambient sound! 🎶🎧👏
Super dark cut classic. Mystical. Sting's vocals are magical and soaring. Christopher Lee who lol? Leland Sklar looks like a wizard and IS a wizard on the creative approach to the bass lines.
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
This is one of my favorites on the album. And I loved Sting in the background vocals.
Phil I ♥️your voice you are wonderful.
🎶 Long Long Way To Go 🎶 Thanks Phil Collins For
This Excellent & Awesome Song, You're The Best!!!!!

One of his best top 5 songs! Excellent!
So I tried this song with my jeep with super sound system and OMG Pleople if you have a great system try this song is Much more magical this song is Amazing Phil
Get well Brother
Absolute peak Phil.
A fun fact to this song: Sting was singing in the background vocals. He mets Sting at the end of 1984 during the recording of the Live Aid Christmas Song Do They Know It Christmas. After recording this song with many artists in the song, he speak with Sting and because this album was not finished, he have a request to help Phil to his third album. Sting was praised and accepted his demand, and he singing with him in the background vocals for this song and ''Take Me Home''.
I always knew, but now I can be sure!
Sting had also worked with NJR producer Hugh Padgham on "Synchronicity" so they already had a connection. Phil being a co-producer and into his third album while Sting was working on his first probably gave him a confidence boost on being a solo artist (not that Sting had a problem with confidence *L*). I think Sting wanted to do a co-headlining tour with Phil when he "retired", but wound up doing it with Peter Gabriel instead.
Sting sure kept himself busy that year after the Police broke up in '85. This song on Phil Collins' album, the Dire Straits song and also on Arcadia's album.
Phil met Sting at the 1981 Policeman's Ball concert.
This deserves about 100 million more views
Miami Vice brought me here
Just heard this song on an old tv series called Cold Case and I find it really beautiful
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
Miami Vice vibrations...

Love this song. The Sting cameo was just perfect too.
This song still hits hard!

Another Fantastic song from the great Mr Phil Collins ❤️ Polly ❤️🥁 love you man ❤️💋
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
When I long to hear PC & Sting....I remember this song.....I heard this song at the time I was in university student in 1984.
A great song...a collaboration Sting & PC.
fantastic
Such a sad song, but powerful. Every time I hear this, it grips me. Sting and Peter Gabriel sing backup on this.
Best ever, not just in the 80's
I heard this song yesterday for the first time whilst watching season 2 of Miami Vice. Completely blown away by it, beautiful and meaningful✌🏻❤️
I just heard this song in a series called Cold case.. I did not know the artist and I just had to find out. Just too beautiful.
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
Another masterpiece from one of the all time greatest musicians of all time. Phil Collins always outdoes himself. Thank you for all of the great music to accompany so many great memories in my life. Keep keepin on. 🙏🏾👊🏾😎
I wish Collins and Sting had collaborated more. Their voices really blend well.
Masterpiece
59 and so thankful for the music the world gave me every year after year after year! A shout out to U K !
This song just puts me in the zone.
This has weirdly become my meditation song as it has a rather calming rhythm that pretty much sends me away to a more happy and more peaceful environment. Phil Collins has easily became one of my favourite artists in rock music and I am so in love with the way he really talks directly to the listener about certain issues that society itself has on its hands. I also have this album featuring this song on vinyl by the way.
Switch it off, look away... You've done it, congrats
I've loved Phil since the start of his music. Never gets old. Will keep listening to him until the end of my days 💞
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
First heard on Cold Case, second season, ninth episode, "Mind hunters"... fabulous!!!
This is a track i always play to myself when i feel troubled or have issues to sort out but can't sort them till tomorrow.
In love of Phil Collins, his voice…. all his songs ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ the best of the 80 ! This song is one of my favorite with “against all odds”.
Ok muy buen gusto chica
Always reminds me an episode of Miami Vice..❤❤
