Thanks for the video - very interesting! The course you did sounds a lot more thorough than the one I did in 2013. A lot of my colleagues complained about having to do the teaching qualification. I enjoyed it. I think it made me a better teacher. It certainly made me reflect more about what I was doing. Also, as you say, it was great to meet colleagues from around the university. I did my SFHEA a few years ago, which was also a valuable exercise, though not as involved as getting the initial teaching qualification.

I found it a bit of a shortcut way to build up a colleagues network, which was great when I was new to the uni. I enjoyed it too, though it was a fair amount of work 😂

Thank you for another really helpful and informative video.
I have just had my second day as a Lecturer! I should hopefully be starting their PgCert in Academic Practice with the next intake. I think this is a similar course.

I hope your second day went well 😃 Your course sounds very similar, mine was called 'Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching' which led to the FHEA. I found it a nice way to meet other lecturers at my uni.

Hi Nicola, congrats on your journey as a lecturer. Are you doing FHEA as well?
I'm in a similar boat. Will be hopefully getting PGCert soon... there's FHEA that I can get as I've done the required modules but if I get PGCert I'm not sure what additional benefit FHEA will bring... any thoughts?

Hi. Great video. I’m from India and I’m interested to apply for FHEA. Are there any programs for non UK based faculty members to get into FHEA by completing any courses. Could you please enlighten in this

I intend to go for the written route for FHEA. Is there any website where I can view the sample statements/applications written by past fellows? Please guide..

Hi, very helpful videos. I am a law lecturer from India who has recently moved to the UK. But currently I am not holding any academic positions here in the UK Is it possible for me to do the HE training programs like any certificate programs in Higher education without holding any academic positions , which will help me for FHEA in future.

Thanks for the video. It was really informative as it brings to the fore what FHEA is all about.
I have been following up ur videos and they are really insightful. Apart from UA-cam, do u have means of reaching u?

Dear Ma'am, I need your suggestion. If I will take HEA Associate Fellowship, will it be helpful for Further Education teaching? I want a qualification which will be added value in FE and HE both.

Thank you for your content. Can you please let me know if we can take FHEA online from a different country?

I'd suggest looking at the AdvanceHE website "Your Route to Fellowship" - this details the different requirements/options.

Thank you for doing a video on this. Can you use this this qualification to teach Further Education? In a college for example?

    • @neilpyper
      @neilpyper 3 роки тому

It would probably be an advantage when applying for an FE job, particularly at a college with HE provision. However, there are PGCEs specifically for FE. These may be worth looking at if your aim is specifically to teach in FE.

Hi, I have a 2.2 in BA (Hons) English Literature with English Language, an MA in English, and currently doing my PhD. I have acquired AFHEA. Are these qualifications good enough to consider becoming a university lecturer in the UK? Is the 2.2 for first degree acceptable?

    • @DrCST

I'd suggest having a look at lecturer positions in your field to see the subject specific requirements. A good place to search is jobs.ac.uk I hope this helps, all the best for your PhD 😊
