Do you mean the straight stitch on a regular sewing machine? You can use a zig zag stitch or check your sewing machine's manual as it may have other stretchy stitches that you may want to experiment with. Be sure to test the stitches on a scrap first. I usually do the topstitching of the binding on the neckline and armholes with a wide straight stitch or use a stretch double needle. Hope that helps!
I do use a straight stitch on vertical, slant (dolman shoulder), and curve (neckline, armhole) seams. For horizontal seams like the hem, there is a risk of the stitches popping so perhaps use a stretchy thread like a Wooly Nylon thread. There are a variety for stretchy threads to choose from. That way you can use a straight stitch without the thread breaking when stretched.
A zigzag stitch is great for knit fabrics as it lets the fabric stretch without the seams popping. Sometimes, I use a wide straight stitch to topstitch knit binding instead of my stretch double needle.
a great video thank you, could use some speeding up in certain repetitive parts, like putting the pins on the pattern, sewing parts and such, other than this was very helpful
I'm so glad to hear it was helpful! Yes, it sure could. This was one of the videos I did when I started learning editing so a lot of trial and error. Thanks for stopping by! :)
thank you this was very helpful!
You're so welcome!
I think this is a great pattern to have coz you can make a few items from it xx
Thank you! I've made a flared top, gathered skirt dress and shift dress using this tank top pattern.
if I use a regular sewing machine will the stitch like stretch out cause when you do a regular hand stitch the stitch just breaks

Hey, how do I download it from the website because it only shows me a picture in din A4 format?
Why do you use a zigzag stitch vs a straight stitch?

@@zuneharris3484 I actually like sewing videos that show every step slowly - it helps beginners understand what to do :)
