    Nice job, friends! We've already pulled out a couple of our windows on our Skoolie as a test, and it was pretty easy! Great tips :)

    I have yet to hear anyone say that Butyl tape was the wrong stuff to use. Just got my floor primed, so I'll be taking my interior panels off, and probably ceiling, before windows.

      That s actually what we went with the 2nd time. It did a great job. Congrats on getting the floors primed. Its a good feeling seeing it become something pretty again lol.

    Great explanation. Didn't see the details on the screws too well, but loved how you explained your experience at the end. Happy trails in Jesus! Be blessed.

    A heat gun helps soften the wondow gaskets and makes removal much easier, if any of them don't want to let go.

      Yeah we used that on a couple of spots on the windows

      I wish our was. Had to redo it and then they still leaked a little. I think I finally got them figured out though.

      Backroad Purpose In all fairness, your windows had a lot more going on than mine .. I had 2 screws holding them them in ... no side trim screws at all. I was nervous. I used HENRY’S wet patch for roofing to seal everything . Looks like they used bubble gum to seal them originally , like mine ... irony ... since it’s a “school bus” 😂😂

      Brandy no... I used the Henry’s Wet Patch.. comes in a tube and applied with caulking gun. After it cured (2 hours) I hit it with Rustoleum Black Spray paint ! I’m gonna use this stuff for virtually every possible leak spot. Also , I did all of the roof panel seams with the same Wet Patch Caulking... I will go back over the entire roof with the Tropicool stuff. Maybe overkill but I really don’t want to worry about what’s happening BEHIND the walls after it’s all built , Ya know ? I’m literally hitting every seam with the Wet Patch Caulk .... every single seam ! #noleaks

    Hey I know this video is old but I just found it and have a bus and need to take the windows out. Most videos the buses have 2 screws between the windows but mine do not and yours does not either, so are the only screws required to remove the windows going sideways or do you have to remove the outside plate first or at all?
    I also noticed your bottom sheet metal under the windows, did you cut them? Can they be removed after you remove the windows?

    • @BackroadPurpose
      @BackroadPurpose  Рік тому

      bottom sheet it a ledge the windows sit on. the black brackets is what sandwiches the windows to the outside metal. the outside metal does not need to be removed.

    hey homie! hope you guys are well. quick question, what kind of sealant did you use on the windows? did you use butyl tape?

    So if one of my windows falls out, its gonna fall inside not onto the highway?

    • @BackroadPurpose
      @BackroadPurpose  Рік тому

      correct. however they get clamped into the frame so they won't fall out. plus all of the sealer acts a glue keeping it in place as well

      @BackroadPurpose I took all those shackles off to paint and they all got lost, so I'm running on glue.. 😁 I don't have much of a choice rn I'm alone now ~

    • @BackroadPurpose
      @BackroadPurpose  8 місяців тому

      Im not sure what it was empty but when it was fully converted and full of water and fuel, it was at 22,600

    Question bus folks!! Does everyone do this? I thought (once we get a bus), maybe take it to a car wash and see what leaks? Or Just do it anyway to prevent/fix the leaks!!??

    • @BackroadPurpose
      @BackroadPurpose  3 роки тому +1

      That's not a bad idea. However, a lot of it will actually leak under the window down behind the walls. So you can't see if unless you pull the wall off. So I'd incourage you to do it. It's a days worth of works and about $60 in material but definitely better then water getting under your floors.
