Bart is an awesome, strong man who was able to overcome those horrible examples of a mistreatment of a child...The description of his Birthday in 5th grade made me cry. My Son is 32 so I can identify... Bart forced to wear a white shirt, that horrible nap after the forced homework and the humiliation that it all caused... I am sure his Mom meant well but the result was disastrous. BART HAS THIS AWESOME combination of the physical and mental strength with the kindness of his heart that makes him an awesome Father and the really, really good husband. Man...bart's sad birthday stories hit hard. It def reminds me of like growing up poor as an asian american. Most 1st gen parents would tell you their childhood and how dirt poor they were in like china, taiwan, phillipines, etc.....and most times all they got was barely a cupcake or something.
It's just crazy how each passing generation, we really try to give our child the best experience that we can at the time with what we have..
Seeing the journey of bart and Geo till now is so beautiful. The joy of taika running towards the ballons so precious. I remember the birthday with the big donut, when they pie barts face and chased him all day.

Barts first bday party story. My heart. Koreans usually do a big 1st bday with traditional wear. My older brother had the outfit. I never had one..my bro also had Chuckecheese party for 2 or 3 bdays and had friends over. My parents never let me have birthday party or even have friends over at the house.... i threw myself a sleep over a weekend my parents were out of town. And it was boring bc I had no moneys to get anything. Thankful my friends helped make the best of out it.. that was my 13th bday.
