Create you own magical fairy house with this step by step tutorial. Sit back, relax and follow the process from empty glass jar to finished house. The jar remains inside and usable, as the lid/roof simply unscrews, so it can be a secret storage pot, or put lights inside to make it glow. Many of the canes I use in this project are from previous tutorials, so I will refer to those when we get to them, and the links to everything I mention are listed below.
I hope you enjoy this fairy house tutorial and look forward to seeing pictures of what you have created.

It's been a good while but I just want you to know this was the first big project my daughter and I tried and we're still using it as a night light with little battery tea lights. It took time but it was not difficult when we followed your instructions. Thank you!

Thank you very much 🙂
Beautiful.Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much :)
You are absolutely wonderful!!! I am a newby at polymer , but am grateful God gave me the gift of a crafter. I’m 55 and was raised from the age of 5 helping my mom prepare for church bazaars . 🤗 A lot had progressed since then!!
Anyways, I wish I had watched all the tutorials of yours that I’ve been watching before I invested in a lot of supplies. They will be used for other things if not for polymer. I’ve watched at least 15 of your tutorials over the past 2 days. I’m waiting fir my son to get the cooler up and running on the roof. I live in a desert in so. Calif, and my craft room gets hot in the summer! Anyways, i’m looking forward to doing many of the wonderful projects you shared with me. I’m also going to sign on as a patron ! You are truly a master at polymer. I don’t know if that’s what you focus on only, if so it works for me!! I’m wowed by the beautiful broach you made with all of those skills you have !! And that fairy garden house!!! Oh my goodness!! I am your no. 1 fan right now!!
God bless you, and your talented hands and mind! Seriously, i’m blown away, and grateful I found you to teach me !! Thank you!!!
Oh wow, thank you so much Trey Beedee for such a lovely comment :) I am so happy you are enjoying the tutorials and hope you have great fun in making lots of wonderful pieces. I find polymer clay such a brillaint medium to work with as you can do so much with it - just relax and have fun with it. :)
@@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals amen! I’m cleaning and reorganizing my craft room now! It’s so hard not to stop at my bead station that’s full of great things , like every type of miniature frames I can use etc. I have to stay focused on moving out everything that is in the spot in setting up my plolymer station! I’ve had to tell myself “focus “ a few times. Well, I know your a very busy lady , but I have just one question. Do you accept patreon? Sorry I forgot to say this. There are a lot of talented polymer people out there , but none of them teach this art like you do!! Your an amazing teacher! How many years have you been doing polymer? If you don’t mind me asking. If you do mind I understand.
@@treybeedee6177 Sounds like you are having fun :) No, I do not have a Patreon Channel, I do sell tutorials on Etsy though, and many people support me that way instead. The link is in the video description above. Many thanks :)
Is very, very beautiful!
Thank you very much :)
This by far the most beautiful fairy house I've seen. So many intricate details you make look so easy. A wonderful job with prestine results! I love it!
thank you so much :)
@@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals Hi, I know you made this video a couple of years ago, and it's an absolutely beautiful fairy house. I want to make this myself. So I was wondering where do you buy the premo translucent clay from? Because I would like to use the same as you do, the problem is I can't seem to find it in craft shops and online, it always seems to be from another country so the postage is quite high. So where do you get it from please?❤️
@@cherylwells9116 Hi Cheryl, I buy my Premo from Clayaround.com in the UK, but I know stocks are difficult to get hold of at the moment. :)
@@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals Thank you for replying. The only translucent clay I seem to find in store(WHSmith and Hobbycraft)is Fimo but it's white. Anyway I will check where you buy it from. Thank you again❤️
Can wait to try to make one.
Thanks so much Cara :)
I love Creative Mom...I’ve been subbed to them for over a year
Yes, she's amazing, and very inspirational :)
Thank you so much Fiona, being new to polymer clay, your videos are so informative and inspiring. Thank you for making this wonderful video, it's a lot to learn, and you make it look easy! The completed fairy house is delightful. I'm grateful that you are sharing how you do it.
I am so glad you like my videos Sally, have fun with Polymer Clay, it is such a great medium to work with :)
Wow! Wow! I do not know how to qualify this little work of art. I admire your patience and I had as much fun as you to watch every single details. This is something one day I will do in my bucket list. I always wanted to do one. I have the steps, stones, sand , Bench
electric post etc to decorate a fairy garden.i need only the house.
Thank you Lilette :) yes, you definitely need to have this one on your 'to do' list. fairy houses are such fun to make :)
I so appreciate your videos! You are such a good instructor that I made two of these fairy houses as soon as I started working with polymer clay. It took me awhile to finish them, but I finally did tonight. You have no idea how many times I watched this video. Anyway, you said that you would like to see our work. I wish I knew how to send you picturesof mine. They are not as good as your, but I do believe they are pretty darn good.
I am sure yours are absolutel;y beautiful Pamela :) You can email me through my website, or message me through Facebook or Instagram, links to all of those are in the video description below the actual video, just click on where it says SHOW MORE and it's all there. I look forward to seeing the photos :)
WOW! This is the second video of yours that I've seen and I'm completely mesmarized by them! You have SO much talent and I can't wait to see more. I have almost everything I need to start my own project and want you to know that you have completely inspired me! Thank you so much!
Oh wow, thank you so much Celeste, that means so much :)
wow how good is that !
Thank you very much :)
Fiona, you are a wonderful artist and a gifted teacher. Your instructions are so clear and easy to follow. I thank you for your generosity in sharing so many of your techniques and projects. I'm sure that many of us will be ready to purchase your future tutorials with advanced techniques. I'm always eager to see your latest videos and appreciate the time & effort you put into each one.
Oh wow, thank you so much Jennifer :)
Hmm, I'm glad I kept the glass yogurt jars around. I was going to use them for painting, but now they can become tiny fairy houses. Thank you for the tutorial and inspiration.
Oh yes, they will be great, thanks Jessica :)
Beautiful 😍😍.Love and wishes from Kerala, India 👏👏😍😍😍😍😍👍👍

Thank you very much Lizz :)
@@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals I love your fairy house. Hope to make one someday.
@@shirleykatula463 Definitely give it a go, and have fun with yours 🙂
This is lovely I think I will be doing this but in a smaller scale. A really good bark / wood veiner that won't cost anything is if you take a piece of husk from a fresh sweet corn and let it dry out until pale brown it will have a fantastic linear texture perfect for tree texturing, you just have to wait for the corn to be in season but the husk lasts for a long time and nothing falls off or stains so it's ideal, you could stick to some wide tape too for working with.
Thanks so much Caroline, and yes you are so right about the corn husk. I was first introduced to it by Alison Gallant many years back, and have made my own texture sheets from a small piece, and use them constantly. :)
Fabuleux, beau travail de patience, bravo, I love it !!!!
Merci beaucoup Marisa :)
I wish you would do a video of your craft room and how you've stored your clay. Your work is amazing!
Thanks Julie, have you not seen my craft room transformation on my Facebook page? It was a real tip beforehand, but now I am happy with it :)
@@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals I will look it up. I'm kinda new to this craft. But I'll head over there after breakfast.
Your creativity is so amazing I love your tutorials
Thank you so much Mayra :)
I never thought to use cane for the roof. What a bright idea! Excellent tutorial. Thank you!

Very beautiful!!!👍👍👍
Thank you very much :)
Thank you so much!!!!! I am trying new things and although I have made a ton of beads and jewelry I have always wanted to make more than those and now I have new ideas!!!!!!
Thanks so much Vicky :)
Fiona, just watching you is sheer magic!!! I love the clay and maybe next month I will be able to get some!!!! I want to make the canes and use them in addition to the roofs on my little mini houses!!!!!!! So again thank you so much!!!!
Sounds like you're going to have fun, I am so glad you are enjoying the videos. Thank you so much Vicky :)

Oh my stars and gaters Fiona! I adore your tutorials! My neighbor decided to give me her clay and a pasta mangle... you are so good at explaing that my first project was pretty darn good ))
Fantastic, I am so happy for you Berty :)
WOW. So much detail. Love the step by step details and that you fast forwarded through the repeat parts. Have watched several of your tutorials, you make it all look so easy. I tend the get a smoothed up mess when I reduce the clay. Need lots of practice before trying the fairy house. LOVED the tutorial though.
Thanks so much Andrea :)
I really love this tutorial and your voice is so relaxing
Thank you so much Mayra :)
I rarely comment on videos but I have to say you are positively magical. I have a special needs child that I’m homeschooling and, though I love it, it’s quite stressful. Watching your videos is like my therapy at the end of a long day. Thank you so much for doing them for free. You are so so generous for doing that. I’ve been working with polymer clay for more than 20 years and your talent astounds me. I’ve learned so much from every video you’ve made. I just can’t tell you how much these videos mean to me.
J, I was having a really bad day yesterday (as we all do), but just before I went to bed, I saw your comment, and your words suddenly made my day better, so thank you so much. What you have said is really why I do the videos, I know how relaxing and therapeutic Polymer Clay is, and simply want to share that with others. I was especially touched as you say you rarely comment, so thank you for doing so this time, I appreciate it so much. I am working on my next free tut now, and am hoping it will be out by the end of the week. Best wishes and respect for what you are doing on a daily basis, Fiona xx
Another fantastic project! Your work is truly amazing and I love your creativity. Such a joy to watch!! 💕
Thank you so much :)
Beautiful.... I leave my widows clear though and put a flickering LED candle inside to use as a night light.
That sounds lovely Babs :)
The windows are painted with transparent paint so the light will show through

Thank you :)
Once again, WOW! Amazed with your imagination and artistry.
