@@aust_incthat was maybe the nail in the coffin, but really his finger injury started it. He was an all star in 2022 and that ended his season early. He was shitty all of 2023, I think part of the reason he started the fight was cause he had been playing like shit all year
My POV for a Carlos Santana A or even S tier is that they paid 2 million a WAR instead of the average 8. Genuinely saved, in theory, 15 million for a gold glove, 2.5 WAR player
His legs were where so much of his offensive and defensive value was generated. Leg injuries have sapped him of all his value. He's probably got to take a minor league deal if he's going to continue.
I don't think any Giants fan would put Lee signing in the D tier. We love the guy and his elite center field defense. Also got on base decently even when he wasn't hitting this year.
The rank had nothing to do with him as a player. It's about the massive contract he got when he hasn't played more than half a season in 3 years. Until he stays healthy, it can't be ranked high.
I know it pained Jolly to talk nice about Shoei for the first 30 seconds but he is hard why he put it at the beginning to get it over with. I appreciate the nice words none the less
Jolly bud you gotta keep it real with JD. It's easy to talk about intangibles with a player on your favorite team, but nothing you said about his intangibles couldn't be applied to Justin Turner who signed for about the same amount of money and was 3 times as valuable by bWAR (1.5 to 0.5). If JD is B tier, which he shouldn't be, then Turner would be A tier.
Overall, solid list! I gotta agree that Santana should be S tier. $5 million for a 2.5 win player (3.0 fWAR)! That's a phenomenal deal. And C tier for IKF? It's $7.5 million/yr for a 3.5 win player. Not a GM alive who wouldn't take that production out of that contract. There's an argument for an A tier there. Of all the issues Toronto has, IKF's contract isn't one of them. And you gotta be honest about JD. There is a lot of fan favoritism there. No way on earth that is a B tier. That's every bit a D tier move. ($12 million for half a win compared with IKFs $7.5 million for 3.5 wins. I mean come on). You are mentioning his affect on clubhouse culture but not bringing those intangibles to any of the other moves. So sticking straight with on field production, he did not have a good year.
He didn't have the B-tier vibes that 0.5 WAR of JD Martinez had though. That's why two years for $15 million is shockingly expensive because for just $12 million you could have gotten one year of a slow 108 OPS+ DH instead
i understand the reservations with JHL due to his injury history and below average performance in the month plus we got to see from him, but i really believe he'll be a good signing for the giants. he's super fast, a great defender, and had a 13-game on base streak at one point. once he gets acclimated to mlb he'll be a great asset.
No Amed Rosario mention? That's a bit disappointing, he was a major league signing (albeit a pretty low cost one) and did actually play reasonably well.
El Ośo was way more deserving of “s” tier than Hernandez. He won a gold glove and mashed while only getting $5 million from the Twins and turned it into a $12 million deal with Cleveland. He was probably the best pickup not named Ohtani in baseball last year.
Are these ranked more on the contract itself or how they worked put for the team that signed them? Someone like IKF is probably an A for Toronto, but a D or F for Pittsburg
I think Bader was ranked fine (C tier is about average, and fWAR was more charitable to him than bWAR). JDM should be in D tier, however. Winker was fairly ranked when taking into consideration his postseason performance.
Add Daniel Vogelbach to the F tier but that was a minor league deal. Man the Jays had such a pathetic off season last year. Looks like they are doing it again
The fact that Tim Anderson was team USA’s starting second baseman less than 2 years ago is totally blowing my mind.
he hasn't been the same since Ramirez decked him. the Jackie Robinson comments probably didn't help his case either.

Can’t believe profar did all of that for the Padres and got 1 mil
crazy thing is that per his baseball savant page, he should at least be somewhat close to last year
Seeing Tim Anderson in the thumbnail hurts, is he officially done?? Fun guy to watch with some unfortunate years as of late
His legs were where so much of his offensive and defensive value was generated. Leg injuries have sapped him of all his value. He's probably got to take a minor league deal if he's going to continue.
It was all downhill after dubbing HIMSELF as the modern day Jackie Robinson lmfao
I think he will probably get a minor league deal and go nowhere but he may be too embarrassed
He posts videos of him hitting on ig still but other then that I haven’t seen anything about him getting a contract unfortunately
1 million for Profar deserves it's own super tier. Because holy shit that AAV to produced value ratio is so astronomical
Relax. There’s a reason he’s still a free agent
@@hectorcastle1187Because even the Padres know he's not going to repeat that season at over 30 years old 😂
Time to sign for 1 million again, Profar.
Carlos Santana needs to be S tier he won a gold glove at age 40 on a 1-year $5 million contract
It's a GG at first base lmao, let's not pretend that carries the same weight as SS or CF.

Same argument to be made about Bader getting a tier over Kiermaier…did basically similar things but ones a met 🤷♂️
Still love JHL. He’s for some reason an exciting player, even with his underwhelming performance during those 30 some games.

Jung Hoo Lee is S tier solely because we love him and he is a strong vibe (plus nobody has a cooler nickname than him!)
Carlos Santana and Justin Turner Mariners LEGENDS
IKF in C tier after a nearly 4 WAR season is insane. 7 million for 3.5 war is insanely cheap
He didn't have the B-tier vibes that 0.5 WAR of JD Martinez had though. That's why two years for $15 million is shockingly expensive because for just $12 million you could have gotten one year of a slow 108 OPS+ DH instead
the smiling raisin prefers vibes over data, apparently
also can’t forget about randal grichuk. great 1-year signing

It's always so funny when ppl are like "he had the highest triple slash AND OPS of his career" yea, obviously?
The Tim Anderson stuff is crazy to think about. Carlos Santana just never stops raking man
New Olly Jolive Banger
Aw, sweet! A new Jungle Orchid video just dropped.
Love what jesse winker did with the Nats for half a year. Whatta character and player
No Amed Rosario mention? That's a bit disappointing, he was a major league signing (albeit a pretty low cost one) and did actually play reasonably well.
Yay! A new Blithesome Caper video just came out!!!
Babe wake up new Jolly Olive vid dropped

Whit should have been D tier due to how well he played in the second half.
amazing day for mlb content
Adam Dunn's walk-up music was the Imperial Death March from Star Wars. Really just a cringe experience the entire season.
Are these ranked more on the contract itself or how they worked put for the team that signed them? Someone like IKF is probably an A for Toronto, but a D or F for Pittsburg
New baseball bits episode and jolly olive video at the same time???!!!!
jolly can you do a tony phillips video pretty please
predicting Reynaldo Lopez getting at least an A possibly S tier position.
Hey can you upload next years video for this
Putting IKF's 3+ WAR season below JD Martinez is certainly a choice...
I think he missed the Austin hedges S tier signing.
Surprised Yankees didn’t try to get Santana
Victor Caratini?
No Iglesias? That’s crazy
Please resign Teoscar
He graded last year’s MLB free agent hitters
Didn’t even realize Goldschmidt to yankees
Am i crazy or did you not mention Flaherty?
straight up one of the most under-the-radar, impactful signings last year
I hope Winker can stay with Mets
Tim Anderson rated way too highly
Graver should be in F tier dude was just bad.
Where Tyler O'Neil?
O'Neill was traded, not a free agent signing
Jung Ho Lee will bounce back this year mark my words
Both Mets were graded a spot higher than they should have been...but at least you acknowledge the bias.
Yeah, you just gotta tune out when he talks about the Mets. It's good analysis for the other 29 teams at least
I think Bader was ranked fine (C tier is about average, and fWAR was more charitable to him than bWAR). JDM should be in D tier, however. Winker was fairly ranked when taking into consideration his postseason performance.
Literally only Michael Kay was too lazy to call him by his name and call him IKF. Don't copy his laziness.
Backyard Baseball video idea! Check your email man, been a while!
I was here first!!
