There are two choices for Africa, cull the population back to a level that the land can support or cull elephants that destroy crops for man. It seems strange but in Africa, there is a serious lack of protein in many people's diets. An elephant is a HUGE source of meat in such a circumstance.
I find it patronising how you refer to "Africa" as if it was one homogeneous mass. It's a huge continent of many countries with huge differences culturally, economically and all else. I imagine that in your mind, everyone in Africa is protein starved and big game hunters are the 'saviours'. I trust that you probably mean no harm, but be mindful that you don't lean into unconscious bias or downright prejudice with sweeping statements like that.
@@Boomslang1 Point taken. I was referring to those areas where big game hunting (in this case elephant) takes place, particularly southern Africa. I'm unaware of elephant hunting going on in Egypt, Tunisia or Morocco. Correct me if I'm wrong.
It is not the elephants fault that humans are too stupid to stop breeding when they reach capacity.... We should be controling human population, not animals.... morron!!!!!
"The animal killers do not know that in the future the animal will have a body suitable to kill them. That is the law of nature." Read The Bhagavad-Gītā As It Is, Hare KRSNA.
yes. the one that "hire" them to kill elephant are the african, so they can eat. the hunters pay large sum of money to kill it and the money is used to preserved the land. so tldr, african get to eat, the money used to preserve, the hunter hunting to balance the animal numbers. hunting is not what you often see on tv, thats what poachers do.
@@LR-jb6zn I'm from Srilanka, i know about preservation, there is a large number of elephants in our country within a extremely limited area, we don't have a policy to kill them to control numbers and also elephants are not carnivores so it can be controlled by other means. Westerners are criticizing the domestication of elephants in Srilanka and other Asiatic countries, killing to conserve; personally i dont believe that and also there are ways to preserve other than killing. We humans have come through a long way in evolution that we have modified domesticated animals(farm animals) to consume as food, we don't want to move back through the timeline and become early humans right?
Animals, die everyday to nature, is man not part of that cycle, it is to feed the people there, Nature floods and drowns, freezes to death, slow starvation kills ,them, but we are bad (I dont get this) we are nature too. We also die to them in Africa, and to nature
Grew up hunting just about everything. I choose not to hunt anymore, but I respect and support those who do so responsibly. But....at the alarming rate these majestic animals are vanishing, I simply can't stomach this. I don't care if it provides every human on the planet with a plate of meat. Leave em alone. Period.
Sadly, you are wrong. For these villagers there are NOT many other options for meat! Did you watch the video? They commented that many in these villages haven't had meat in quite a while. They are obviously desperate for food. This is evident in the way they took to scavenging the meat from this elephant. NOTHING was wasted.
I can't do better than repeat the title of your content - This Is Africa !!! To us who are Africans, do we need to hear more !? From my tribal ancestors to client hunts, this is how we've done it. Great stuff, Andy, crack on !
Elephants usually die of starvation as their molars do not last as long as they do. And since this elephant's meat was used to feed the nation. On the other hand, I DO NOT SUPPORT THE HUNTING OF LIONS AND LEOPARDS where they are not killing domestic stock. Even then, they can be trapped and relocated
@@pieterdeyzel2555 problem with relocating lions and leopards is they might come back, animals are super smart especially if there is a good food source around
The prob with killing prime bulls is you are taking out the best genetic stock from the gene pool. These are the prime breeding animals. The successive selection of prime bulls especially big tuskers has resulted in the future elephants having smaller and smaller tusks. Poachers and pro hunters alike target the biggest bulls with biggest tusks. The prime breeding age for a bull elephant is between 40-55 years of age. And this is the same age category targetted by the PH. A more though after method needs to be looked at. If your doing hunting do it in a way that doesnt affect the genetic make up of a species.
I could be wrong but I think this was a bull that was far past his prime and was just taking up food and resources for other potential prime males. And I also believe elephants like this one in the video are targeted specifically because they are more violent and more of a danger to the local village so by eraticating it it feeds the villagers and they can live safe and all the money goes to the local villages for wells and water and food and cloths and stuff like that, I once thought the same as you but was later told and proven wrong by someone who took the time to educate me, and I hope I did the same for you, have a nice day😁
@@nickharper6682 unfortunately that's far from the truth. They are the prime breeding males. The story u mentioned js the story hunters use to justify killing the prime bulls. Sad and bitter truth. This is the reason why big tuskers are a rarity now.
@@nickharper6682 even in deer, the prime males are the ones with the biggest antlers and the common excuse to kill them is they don't breed and threat to other breeding males etc which I completely false and sicentifically proven. The best bit was when the final two shots went through the head, and the whole jumbo.heaved and twitched, obviously dead or dying. This is a very cool video.
PS, I really don't understand these people that get upset, feeling sorry for the elephant and shit. They're not an endangered species. What good are they doing anyone, roaming around eating and shitting all day? At least selective hunting generates revenue, feeds the natives and is an exciting, enjoyable sport.
I think within 50 to 60 years Africa will lose its 70%of it's fauna resources one time all were thinking Africa will be a paradise for animal's and its wilderness but now things has changed and consequently the population of both flora and fauna are drastically declining in Africa. People should think about this before doing something to mother earth
Countries government makes money on trophy fee, the local people are paid for the elephant and then they get all the meat. The local people get food and money for education and the hunter takes away the inedible trophy. The hunting of wild game is recognised as a driving force for paying for conservation and education in rural Africa. It is overseen by international committees who agree quotas and who recognise that poaching and killing by slow methods or ineffectual weapons is much less when the quarry has a financial value to the locals. Many people are employed by the guide and they too contribute to the local economy.
@@longlowdog thats not the way to treat the humans by killing animals.. 🖕🖕🖕If the bull shit hunters wanted help them. donate all the moneys to poor directly. Not in this way😤Thats a wild animal.. stupid government
If conservation and feeding the people were the main reasons then they should target any elephant/ animal that is old and not just the ones with the best ivory or horns. This selectivity in targeting the best looking animals ( endowed with the biggest ivory /horns has definitely impacted the impressiveness of modern animals compared to those in the past years. If they were targeting the weaker and older animals only then we would have better and healthier animals. Trophy hunting says it all. Its all about the trophies, the rest is BS to justify the killing of the most impressive animals. That said, hunting for meat is justifiable. Not trophies. But these guys don't give a damn about the nyama ( did they even take a bite???) Incidently what happens to the ivory? Exported out of the country? Isn't that a form of international trade?
EXCUTION is nothing near hunting Meat for villagers isn't an excuse at all, thousands of alternatives are available for meat with this money. You just excuted a bull in it's prime age for nothing than greediness, adding more challenges to the preserving programs of those endangered species.
Were are these animals gonna live. If we turn all game reserves back into farms. This is bringing back wild live. The old dominant unvertile bulls needs to be culled to make place for the younger generations. So we can see more and more off these creatures. Thier numbers are increasing every year thanks to work like this. Culling is absolutely needed. It don't just rase money but also needed to insure the numbers increase year on year. Sadly human populations and farming practices has taken thier natural habitats away.. I know it's hard to understand but absolutely crucial
It’s people like you who know nothing about hunting trapping or fishing and refuse to listen to people who do or to educate yourself but still feel the need to speak up on matters you know nothing about, if you were smart you’d listen to someone who does hunt or educate yourself, but by making comments like this you make yourself infact you prove yourself to be a fool. And I say this because if you knew why they do this? You wouldn’t make dumb comments like that, but you don’t and you refuse to listen or educate yourself on the matter before speaking, it’s people like you who ruin the world of conservation and hunting as a sport and a way of life

Hunts like this are also made because sometimes animals like this run threw villages or just attack villagers for no reason, and all the money and meat goes into rebuilding and feeding the villagers, my point is they don’t just pick a random elephant and say that one, every big game hunt like this has a targeted animal for a specific reason
Killing these animals is insane, the amount of money that hunters pays to the villagers for hunting wild animal is utilized in purchasing food from cities and provide these poor people, these hunters have no sympathy with the villagers, they just hunt these animals for fun and amusement,

Goats 🐐 and chicken farms can be used for feeding people. Forest elephant 🐘 is not the solution
What an ignorant view. Goats and chickens need feeding. Elephants raid crops for man and beast. There are two choices for Africa, cull the population back to a level that the land can support or cull elephants that destroy crops for man. I suspect you are a billion people too late for the former solution. Google 'elephants a crisis of too many not too few' if you dare take science over press releases from vegan activists.

Very few land is rest for animals in world don’t interfere in his neural habitats
But if an old bull runs threw a village killing hundreds and becomes a problem for locals it is a salution because all the meat and money and even the bones went to the villages to help and support them, without hunts like this a lot of these tribal villages would starve and die off
So whose elephant was it?
Any idiot can shoot an animal, that isn't being a sportsman, but saving them is.
What about feeding an entire village of starving and sick children? Is it ok to shoot an animal then? Or does an elephant outweigh those gross peasants to you? Get out of here liberal
@@johnf817 To shoot an animal for food is one thing, but to shoot it for the thrill of killing it quite another matter. There are numerous animals in Africa besides elephants which can feed them. Also, just so you learn something, elephants are not good to eat.

We should be controling human population, not animals.... morron!!!!!

the one that "hire" them to kill elephant are the african, so they can eat.
the hunters pay large sum of money to kill it and the money is used to preserved the land.
so tldr, african get to eat, the money used to preserve, the hunter hunting to balance the animal numbers.
hunting is not what you often see on tv, thats what poachers do.

Grew up hunting just about everything. I choose not to hunt anymore, but I respect and support those who do so responsibly. And where is that
There are many other options for meat! how long does it take to have an Elephant this old and how many left?
Sadly, you are wrong. For these villagers there are NOT many other options for meat! Did you watch the video? They commented that many in these villages haven't had meat in quite a while. They are obviously desperate for food. This is evident in the way they took to scavenging the meat from this elephant. NOTHING was wasted.
Try doing just a bit of research before making such uninformed comments. There is a healthy population of elephants.

He kills because he’s an asshole with money and they’re the worst kind

Why kill him Elephants
Countries government makes money on trophy fee, the local people are paid for the elephant and then they get all the meat. The local people get food and money for education and the hunter takes away the inedible trophy. The hunting of wild game is recognised as a driving force for paying for conservation and education in rural Africa. It is overseen by international committees who agree quotas and who recognise that poaching and killing by slow methods or ineffectual weapons is much less when the quarry has a financial value to the locals. Many people are employed by the guide and they too contribute to the local economy.

Nyama yemoto something???

Were are these animals gonna live. If we turn all game reserves back into farms. This is bringing back wild live. The old dominant unvertile bulls needs to be culled to make place for the younger generations. So we can see more and more off these creatures. Thier numbers are increasing every year thanks to work like this. Culling is absolutely needed. It don't just rase money but also needed to insure the numbers increase year on year. Sadly human populations and farming practices has taken thier natural habitats away..
