I don’t see the benefit of taking your spider outside besides flexing for your own ego. If at all, the point of handling these animals in front of the camera, is to show people that they are not nasty and aggressive if they are treated gently and respectfully. Therein, you paint them in a positive and graceful light; as well as doing the same for the keepers in the community.

This is known as the Indian ornamental tarantula, it's not known to be aggressive, rather it prefers to hide and run away, as you see in the video it's trying to hide and look like it's not there. They are very fast and will bite if provoked, but for someone who respects them and looks at their beauty from afar, they make great pets.

You're lucky it's sat there scrunched up in hopes you can't see it because if it didn't and it bit you, you'd be in a world of hurt. It's one of the most highly venomous T's in the hobby and not one that should ever be handled.

A bite from a poecelotheria is no joke. I've seen some long time hard core guys cry in pain and go to the ER. Extreme pain, nausea, cramping, body temp regulation issues and even delirium. A healthy person will survive but it's not a fun time at all. I own three species from this genus and I don't see any reason to ever handle them.

Poecilothetia have some of the most potent venom amongst tarantulas, if you get bit by one you wont die, but youll become very sick for up to a week. They have been known to send healthy grown men to the hospital so a bite from one is no joke.

im assuming its a meme based on people telling you not to hold it as for the most part they are super docile and will just sit on your arm for as long as you let them.
there are plenty of docile new world tarantulas who have less medically significant venom. most people advise not to hold old world Ts because their venom is more potent and most species are usually faster and more aggressive.
