Sound advise. A couple of suggestions. The dampit can leak water inside the violin. (This happened to me and it discoloured the label). The wick humidifier in the Musafia cases is quite capable of keeping the humidity at a safe level, provided you keep the case closed at all times. This way the linings absorb humidity and protect the instrument even better. If your case doesn't come with a humidifyer, buy an aftermarket one and install it. Make sure you get a quality, calibrated digital hygrometer. Hygrometers, even digital ones are notorious for being inaccurate, The one I use is a calibrated Caliber IV.
I found a good used case, American Case Co, on ebay. New it was 350. I paid 100$. It needed some minor fixes which I did myself. With my limited budget I feel like I got a good value.
