    My tempo trainer turns on, display is fine, everything works except there the audible beep stopped beeping. I have the 2018 model. Any advice? Thx.

      Sadly in my experience if none of my tips at ua-cam.com/video/CwYRhnOQkwU/v-deo.html work - it could be a dead one I'm afraid to say...

    I've been using mine in spm mode (3), as I find it really highlights when my stroke rate drops, so I work harder to keep up my tempo.
    I'm not sure that working to a beep every 25m would be as beneficial, because I would lose the tempo training aspect. I would probably sustain a much faster threshold pace by sticking with the spm beeps and reading the pace clock for the interval.
    I understand that it could be useful for working off an interval that isn't rounded to 5 seconds though.
    I might try it with the beep set to half of my 25m pace, so I get feedback roughly half way down the length, because if I swim too slow over a whole 25m, I might not catch up again.

    what is going on when you say 'let me know when it goes' at 15.10? I thought that they were all going on the beep, but then you say that they are 19s ahead with a 12s ahead target, which i don't really understand? thanks, really useful video

      Either they can stick with the beeper or beat the beeper on an RM Cycle for their rest. In this case they were beating it 👍

    I've been wondering.... say you are in a 25m pool and doing 400 repeats on Mode 2. That's 16 beats per 400. You are trying to beat the beeper. After a few lengths we get confused as to where we are in the beep count - are we on beep 9 or 10, for instance. So when we finish the 400 and we get a beep a couple of metres before we touch, then if we are resting 1 beep, the rest cycle for that 400 is less than 1 beep (as it began a couple of metres before we touched) . But if that previous beep is sooner still, the the rest cycle is less again. How do your swimmers cope with that? I hope I made this easy to follow, sorry? I'm thinking Mode2 is best over reps of 200 or less.

      Good question. Simple answer: RM Cycles (beat the beeper) are always per 50m for this very reason 👍

    Do you ever find your Tempo Trainers crash in mode 3? I’ve lost 2 there now. Take the battery out and they do Mode 1 fine still. Not low battery as I replaced them. Currently on my 3rd and don’t dare change mode on it. For example, yesterday I took mode 1 all the way down to 0.82 seconds to do roughly +8 spm. On Monday I was up to 54.00 seconds. Takes ages to hold the button down. One thing I’d really like is a countdown on mode 1 is a countdown like they do for cycling time trials and some track cycling, like “beep, beep, BEEEP!” When Alex Dowsett did his Hour Record attempt it didn’t start with him guessing when the beep was coming.

      No need to guess - you can just use the top button to resync and start again if you’d like 👍 I’ve experienced your issue a handful of times as well. I’ll either send back for a warranty exchange or try my little battery trick a few times first…one for another video!

      @@swimsmooth you don’t think pressing the top button again is cheating when the plan says one beep rest? I did get a replacement on the second. First time it happened I thought I’d dropped it or something and bought a second. Then it happened again. They were really good about it. I got the impression it had happened before. Just had to smash it with a hammer to get another posted without returning it.

    • @swimsmooth
      @swimsmooth  2 роки тому

      @@eberger02 definitely not cheating - some of our sessions call for much less rest than 1 beep recovery (i.e. 10 seconds) so that top button is excellent for that!

      @@swimsmooth as long as you remember to press it. My usual trick is to forget and then resynchronise at the first lap turn or remember how far down the lap it beeps and keep it the same. Real pity Platysens shut down: I think a less cumbersome Marlin V2 would have been perfect for this. I save my V1 for OWS
