Colourful report on the 1972 exhibition on priceless
Egyptian artefacts from the tomb of King Tutankhamun
at The British Museum in London. Its aim is to raise
money for a UNESCO rescue operation of the famous
Temples of Philae, threatened by the waters of
Egypt's High Aswan Dam. Also shows the Philae
Temples themselves.

An unforgettable experience in 1972-well worth queueing for 4 hours and actually allowed to touch that exquisite mask !!
I was at the British Museum the other week. I had forgotten it was the 50th anniversary of this exhibition which I remember being extensively covered on Newsround and Blue Peter. Stone-cleaning has made a real difference to the British Museum.
