well... 1) Welcome back with the Katatonia journey 2) Glad you're listening to their roots. 3) weird request however. I love every song of that album, but the difference is that I know the whole album. This song, ENDTIME, it's.... hard to explain.. To my ears, it's always been like an overture, the last chapter, the epilogue of the album... and I think you can guess what I mean just listening to this song. There are other songs beautiful in itself. This is NOT, imho, the right song to taste the older times. Anyway, I'm happy you reached this point ;)
I love this band and Opeth! Please next time listen to Soen - Lascivious. They are amazing as Opeth and Katatonia ooh by the way the drummer is Martin López he was member of Opeth. Thank you 🤘😁
This was a last minute decision to have Mikael Akerfeldt on this record. Jonas wasn't able to growl as well as he did on their previous album, Dance of December Souls (1993). Mikael and Jonas are best friends, so it seemed like the right choice to have him on this record. They dropped the screams for their next record Discouraged Ones (1998). I highly recommend anything from that album. Anyways I would listen to more from Brave Murder Day (1996), Especially the song Day, It's Jonas first Clean vocals on a record, if you don't count the track Scarlett Heavens.
@@sonicallydisruptive Same here bro. Considering how much you like them and Draconian you owe it to yourself to check out Agalloch and My Dying Bride. They are similar vibes to those two respectively but another level of greatness imo.
It's a dialogue taken from the shining movie. it's " -Because for some people well, solitude and isolation can of itself become a problem -not for me". you can easily find the clip in youtube.
Katatonia didn't become great songwriters IMO until Tonight's Decision, even if there are some great individual efforts from the earlier stuff. Even then there are issues with poor production and Jonas being very inexperienced as a singer. I don't think they became their true selves until The Great Cold Distance, that was kind of a breakthrough album for them. Personally I would like to see more songs from Night is the New Day, there are some beautiful tracks on that you haven't listened to yet.
As an old fan of early Katatonia, I envy this guy immensely - HE HEARD IT FOR THE FIRST TIME!😢😢❤
Mikael sounds good on this....easy to forget how connected these two bands are, as they both sound so different now....
Singer of Opeth does growls in this entire album, the only song where Jonas sings
is Day
I love this song
