    if you dont want to add an entire drop you can put the drop on the palette and mix with a brush in the foundation adding as you go along :D dabbing it in a bit

  • @Thepublicaccount
    @Thepublicaccount 6 місяців тому +4

    In my experience with color mixing, it only works if you’re gonna do a large batch like a third or half a bottle of foundation or if you’re doing a single application put the drop in the corner of your mixing plate put your foundation on like you did get a toothpick and dab it in the color and add it that way

    Skip the black for darkening, it will always lean gray. I think using a combo of orange and blue would be more effective to darken foundation while being able to control the undertone and keep it natural looking. I really want to try the white as the only foundation I've ever found light enough for my skin is porcelain by aoa, and I've joked for years that white foundation would be the only shade that would potentially work for me. The orange intrigues me as a possible neutralizing color if I ever have an event where I want to cover my tattoos again. I covered them for my wedding but the product I used wasn't really effective, but I also didn't know at the time to use an orange or peach toned base to neutralize the black and blue tones before covering with a skin toned product (in 2005 there wasn't a lot of info available like there is now). I love shop miss a for providing good quality makeup for extremely accessible costs.

      I literally tried that as soon as I got the white mixer. A whole blob came out and the texture is just like foundation so it was the obvious thing to do 😂
      It looks way better with at least a little flesh color foundation. It looks too chalky and streaky (since your skin peeks through and it's not pure white no matter how light it is.)
      If you mix white with the porcelain it will LOOK like pure white on your face even if it's not.
      But if you just wanted a really goth or Kabuki look, I think it could work with powder.

    • @LunarEleven

      Oh also, Revolution Conceal & Contour comes in actual white! It's a concealer but says you can use it as foundation and on their website it appears the "fans" modeling the product are wearing a full face. Could try mixing that with your foundation if you want to go really light with good coverage and a nice finish!

    If they are going to make a color for darkening a foundation, I would have thought it would have been brown and not black.

    • @munchymiddlevertmama
      @munchymiddlevertmama 6 місяців тому +2

      Agreed! Or I am thinking black might work better with darker skin tones foundations because it would deepen the shades without making them an ashen grey color... 🤷‍♀️ sounds logical in brain 😂 not sure if that would work in reality haha! And as others suggested, maybe try less pigment and dot it next to the foundation and add a tiny amount at a time! Love your videos Zabrena and hope you have a better weekend and week ahead. ❤

    • @LunarEleven
      @LunarEleven 6 місяців тому +2

      Yes, and most brands that sell these pigments also have black. It doesn't make sense. Very deep, rich brown is a better choice, and it can be cooled down with blue. Black is going to be too muddy and grey.
      I have seen some dark brown/tan shades, but the black doesn't need to exist lol

    IMO and having MUA friends in Hollywood, LA Girl is far superior. Its best to put the foundation on the palette and the color corrector in a different spot nearby. Then it's a gradual mix--toothpick sized drops. I am very fair and can wear neutral, cool or yellow as long as the foundation colors are fair enough. I have all four pigments and made experiments with four Fit Me Foundations. It made for a fun afternoon. I especially loved lightning up an expensive Lancome foundation my sister bought me which was #140 and I took it down to a #110. I hope this helps one of your viewers. BTW, I bought LA Girl on Amazon.

    I love the Elf Foundation too and wear the shade "beige" in it but sometimes it looks a tad dark on me. So I also got it in the shade "pearl" which is much lighter and mix the two to get the shade just right for me. For six dollars a bottle, it is well worth it! Congratulations on scoring in the top 5, I think you should have won it!

    I love the white LA Girl mixing pigment! I'm super fair skinned and in the past I missed out on some great foundations because they were too dark. But these days more companies are making more of the lighter and more of the deeper shades that are outside of the light to medium range that they used to love to stick to. But even if I can't find a light enough shade or if I can't tell which shade I should get, I err on the side of a little too dark because I can use the white pigment to lighten it. A little goes a long way so 1 bottle of it lasts a long time.

    I use the blue one almost daily and I LOVE it. Almost all of the foundations and concealers in my collection are way too warm (I use more drops of blue than my actual foundations sometimes) because many brands don’t cater to my skin tone and under tone. I think the shade adjuster drops work much better on deeper complexion products.

    I'm sorry to hear about your bad week! I hope and pray things improve. I love shop miss A and I loved the white drops. I had a foundation that was too dark and it worked beautifully to lighten it but it also neutralized it a little bit. So I ordered the blue and orange. I'm cool toned so I thought the blue would work but instead it's made everything green. Probably because most of my foundations are too yellow. I read in the comments section on the website that people were saying the orange is more red and the orange works better to cool off a foundation. I'm so glad I listened because the orange truly is a red and it made my yellow foundations more pink Especially if I also added white. hope that helps

    I have pale, desaturated (grey ish) cool olive skin. I use the blue drops every day, they’re the only way I get to have foundation that actually matches.
    The blue, for me, works better on anything too saturated and peach. Yellow foundations are still too warm for me even with blue, they just end up warm green, and I usually have to mix in a tiny bit of red with the blue to correct foundations that are too yellow. A Violet mixer would also work.

    I'm wondering if the reason the black drops turned out so funky is because the foundation was so fair. Maybe it would work better for someone with medium skin with a bit of a tan, wanting to darken their regular medium shade of foundation. Just a thought.

    From what I’ve seen some of those shades in shade adjusters aren’t meant for fair tones. And vice versa the white isn’t meant for dark tones bc it’ll turn their foundation grey. The blue would prob work if you first mixed blue and white and made it a lighter blue before adding to foundation. The full dark blue would work for darker tones. It’s def a higher level skill needed and an understanding of color theory.

    • @Thamazgha-for-imazighen
      @Thamazgha-for-imazighen 14 днів тому

      The dark blue drops are not specifically for darker tones. You shouldn't pretend to be an expert on something you have no experience with. I have a medium complexion but slightly more on the lighter side of the medium spectrum with neutral olive undertone. Pastel colored (white based) color correctors or shade adjusters don't work on my skintone. And I'm more of a NC30 to NC37 at max and not warm nor cool toned. Without the darker base in these blue pigments I wouldn't be able to adjust the way to warm/golden foundations. So no it's not a case of either for pale or dark skinned people.....

    I just use the LA Girls blue drops and work like a charm. Just need the smallest amount. The bottle is a pump and you can (sort of) control what comes out. Several drugstore companies just make everything so yellow/gold. Or, they have one cool tone shade but it’s maybe the first shade. When will they get on board w labeling W, C, N? You can’t see in the store. Can’t see clearly in the bottle. You have to go by the name sometimes. Just label them like L’Oreal. Eesh. ANYWAY, after all that, lol, I do like my blue drops from LA Girl and works great w my red cap CG foundation. 😁

    Blue will neutralize an orange foundation with a yellow foundation it will make it more green or olive toned.

    The black drop is meant to be use on deep tan, when needed even deeper.

    Maybe the shade adjusting drops are so concentrated that one drop is too much for one or two pumps of the foundation one or two drops might be perfect for the bottle of foundation, although that's a risky way to find out 😊

    Im kinda thinking from a color wheel perspective - it should have been a Dark red one instead of Blue… because when you are cooltoned you are not more Blue in the skin, you are more pink!! And when you Mix yellow with Blue you should get green!!
    While when you Mix a yellow with a Dark red, you really dont get orange, but more of a pink tone….
    While if they have a yellow one it would go warmer…
    Its weird to me of they dont have a redish one…

    I have hair a lot like yours. Go to a curly hair stylist. Actually ask if they have a stylist for curly hair. Don't settle

    Good color theory video. The black is too blue. Adding orange would probably balance it. When I darken a paint I often add brown instead of black or even purple. Almost all blacks have a blue undertone. Even if it didn't, black added to white makes grey. If the foundation you're trying to darken has too little other pigments and a lot of white, it will be grey. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. It's not so easy to change a colour because you also have chemical reactions within the separate formulas. Good concept but too difficult to get your real match. I always have 2 foundations on hand that I like. One is too dark and the other is too light. As the year progresses I can go from winter pale to summer tan without having to have a whole range of colours. I also use those two base foundations to contour and highlight. You get a really smooth transition and less cost. Thankyou for this video. I really enjoyed it a lot. As always, we'll done.❤

    Actually the black shade adjuster is for richer skintones to cool an orangey foundation

    Try stylists that work with natural African American hair. It may be a change, but they will be able to help with your hair texture.

    The drag lady's knows there stuff. But for us with "normal" foundasions. I agree to mix the foundation and stay away from the black one. "The fancy stuff"
