Spending money and putting it back into the economy is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a form of 'sharing' your wealth. You are keeping people employed. I admire someone like this, instead of those just sitting on their wealth. And not contributing to the economy through purchasing hard items that involve blue collar labor.
+Mcpsagent King This guy made his fortune in highway construction. His client was the Federal Government (they're the only ones building highways after all) and his fortune is almost entirely tax payer funded. It's a good thing he's in other businesses now, because funding for highway infrastructure has been gutted to pay for tax cuts for rich guys like him. So to recap - he extracted wealth from the taxpayers, then rich people funded lobbyists rigged the system so that he would not have to contribute to the tax base that made him rich. So you know that big chunk of your paycheck the government takes? This guy gets to spend part of that money on quarter billion dollar hobbies like this luxury yacht. God Bless him indeed.
I worked on the Attessa IV a couple of years ago replacing the three main generators. Beautiful vessel! I’m happy to have had the experience and the paycheque along with it.
To everyone complaining about the cost - do you think the money he spent disappeared in to thin air? Like he said earlier; at one point over 250 people were working on this yacht. 250 people who were getting paid handsomely, plus the crew it takes to operate a boat like this, and the companies in which supplied the various creature comforts, electronics, etc. This money didn't just disappear. It went to other peoples pockets.
I agree with you, if God blesses you with the ability to achieve these dreams it does far more than bless you... it ultimately spills out to bless so many more people because you did what many millions of people wouldn't. Creating wealth can't help but benefit other people.
Many of us benefitted working for Mr. Washington as he gave everybody a chance to build experience and move upward and onward in their career. He is a hard-working individual who seized the moment in construction, mining, railroading, acquisitions, etc. At the time his modus operandi was paying lower wages but he did allow profit-sharing (reference NBC Today Interview 1989 by Debra Norvelle). If others followed his business plan there would be no need for any type of QE. If the government would follow it they could easily slash 1/2 of their payrolls, eliminate waste, and balance the budget. Dennis operated "lean & mean" -- he inherently taught us not only how to survive, but to operate beyond anybody's expectations. Dennis, Phyllis, Kyle, and Kevin deserve everything they have worked for and my family and I have always been grateful for them.
This looks like an amazing time. It's great to see people really dedicated to their craft. Washington didn't just go an buy the most expensive yacht out their, but found the best built one for his needs and truly incorporated every detail he needed into it.
This is a beautiful boat, the paintjob on the outside is amazing. It's quite a sight when it's docked at the bottom of Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.
I love this guy... He deserves to spend his money any way he pleases... I'm sure he does more for others than for himself... Everyone can learn from this man...
I saw this boat Moored in Bitter End this June. I looked all over the web and I was surprised to find it on UA-cam. If you get a chance to see it in person it is truly incredible!
It makes my Beneteau 393 look like a little row boat :-( I guess it's like Sir Richard Branson said to me once "it's all relitive" I like the fact that he doesn't want to discuss the cost of his yacht. Good man...
I just got back from San Diego and our hotel was right in front of his yacht ..I was truly was truly fascinated with watching the crew working and dreaming of being on it..even just a quick tour....oh well
I love hearing passionate people like him: passion makes hard work easy. When it's easy you excel, and when you excel, you make proper money. Good for him.
What an inspiration! Extremely hard working, ambitious and true to his morals. A few years back I attended the Christian camp in Oregon a that he funded, and had an absolute blast. This is exactly the way I wish to live my life; pursue my dreams and ambitions and then give back to great causes. Very cool!
I was one of the special service workmen on this ship. Video doesn't even come close to how amazing it is. Dennis is a non pretentious kind of guy. Really easy to talk to. His wife's boat is nice too. It is the Atessa III. BTW. Word was that it was WAY more than 250Mil. I won't disclose what I heard the CDN dollar value actually was, as Dennis is modest. There was a Monet painting in the board room that was like 3 Mil alone. Looked like a toddler drew it with a pencil, but hey! It was an original Monet. Also, there was a cool golden wall that ran up the whole stairwell that was 1/2 Mil. Onyx statues, gold sink in his quarters, James Bond style Italian 60's race boat... The list goes on and on... Superb job. All that said, it would be nice to just say hi to the man again. I didn't even know he was Christian!
I agree that people who earn rather then people who are given, deserve respect. The question is: how much is enough, even if you earned it all?? Where do you stop buying, and when do you start giving??
Just saw this yacht over the weekend, docked in San Diego just outside the convention center. Wow! It really is incredible. It was fun to learn the story behind it.
Haha. I just came back from San Diego this weekend and saw it in the same location just 12 years later 😂. I’ve been reading up on this guy and am impressed with his story
Seems like a decent guy, he's done well. Wish I'd seen opportunities in my youth I know now I had. That's a beautiful boat that would never exit without the rich
I used to have a 300" sailing vessel. It was nice but I must say i think I like this better but fuel & maintenance costs would be notably more. It also looks more spacious & better layout than my 300" vessel. The are not really comparable.
Some airlines might sell you an old 747 for that price, however it is a lot more expensive to maintain than even a yacht. Plus, this guy spent (assuming the guestimate is approximately correct) $200 mil on refurbishing it. You would likely have to spend much more on a plane. If you want a plane, stick to the commercial jets.
I met Dennis Washington several times when I was working in the aviation industry in the early nineties. I cool guy for sure. For fun, I model his railroad SRY in Canada. Cheers ~ Boomer.
Yeah. It'd be interesting to experience that kind of wealth and income. If so I'd have a yatch built that was bigger then abramovic's, say 163 or 193 meters long, and the hull would be in maroon, with gold letters for her name.
I saw this yacht in San Diego last spring and always wondered who it belonged to. Even better is that I am affiliated with Younglife as a volunteer leader and its AWESOME to see who funded the overhaul of Washington Family Ranch! I thought it to be a coincidence that I saw it and to now know the real-world connection.
I think it's a little bit different when you have a quarter billion dollar yacht with remote control shades, tv, etc, than has one singular 17 inch tv with a remote control. But you can feel rich if you would like to! There's nothing wrong with that.
Oh, wow, INCREDIBLE! Yep, no doubt he worked super hard for that...but...sadly there's lots of other people who work their butts off for peanuts. At least Mr. Washington does a lot of good for people, like the kids' camp they talked about here. Good for you, Mr. Washington! Cheers!
A little fun fact is that when you own a yacht, you have to spend 10% or more per year for operating costs, then you have to pay the crew, cleaners, and other expenses, so you are looking at paying 12-14% of the total price of this yacht every year you own it :D
being a student who has completed an AP macro-economics course at the high school level, i am moderately knowledgeable to say the least. Let us look where unregulated markets have gotten humanity (until of course markets were regulated and controlled by unions of citizens [governments]) Slavery, slave wages for the working class, a rotunda of mutual debt, etc. Our modern society has arisen out of the efforts of unions and governments to regulate markets, not out of the markets themselves.
I once met an old guy at a Starbucks where he wanted a coffee, but Starbucks wasn't taking credit cards and the old man didn't have cash. I paid for his coffee and little did I know, he owns about 50 Golden Corrals restaurants. To pay me back for the coffee, he offered a ride on a Rolls Royce Phantom to my office. He was the coolest and must humble guy I have met.
Spending money and putting it back into the economy is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a form of 'sharing' your wealth. You are keeping people employed. I admire someone like this, instead of those just sitting on their wealth. And not contributing to the economy through purchasing hard items that involve blue collar labor.
And THIS is one of the ways wealthy people CREATE JOBS and keep people employed..!!.GOD BLESS THEM...Dont resent them :)
+Mcpsagent King This guy made his fortune in highway construction. +oggyreidmore I like your take on this :)
I worked on the Attessa IV a couple of years ago replacing the three main generators. Beautiful vessel! I’m happy to have had the experience and the paycheque along with it.
How wonderful to see a generous and compassionate man, helping children with a beautiful camp. God bless him....
Hes a sick pervert

I was told it costs 10% of the yachts worth just to run it every year considering fuel, maintenance, staff, helicopter and pilot.
Where is the video of the actual boat, you spent longer talking about your flying route then showing it...wtf.
He came from nothing, earned lots of money by hard work, and gives back with a 65 million dollar childrens camp...Who could fault that?
The children’s camp is a tax write off nothing more
Hay seres maravillosos en este mundo todavía ❤️🙏
I liked his interview !! Seems like a cool down to earth guy for being super loaded !! :-)
+Monica Dirocco Yeah, he also seemed like he still gets his hands dirty fixing 'machines'.
+Monica Dirocco So you have to be poor to be down to earth?
OMG..really ?
Werdna regninnen how do you know he doesn't also donate to charity?
without this dude there would probably be lots more starving people in the world. Bless this man and bless his boat.
This looks like an amazing time. It's great to see people really dedicated to their craft. Washington didn't just go an buy the most expensive yacht out their, but found the best built one for his needs and truly incorporated every detail he needed into it.
North Vancouver!!!
hard work dedication and doing what you love. he earned it .
This is a beautiful boat, the paintjob on the outside is amazing. It's quite a sight when it's docked at the bottom of Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.
i love watchin rich people, it gives me motivation
I love this guy... He deserves to spend his money any way he pleases... I'm sure he does more for others than for himself... Everyone can learn from this man...
I saw this boat Moored in Bitter End this June. I looked all over the web and I was surprised to find it on UA-cam. If you get a chance to see it in person it is truly incredible!

awesome, was a pipefitter/welder on that thing for 2 1/2 years, great to see it all finished up!
Saw this boat in SD simply stunning
worked as a sheetmetal worker on the boat for a year and a half, amazing boat!
It makes my Beneteau 393 look like a little row boat :-(
I guess it's like Sir Richard Branson said to me once "it's all relitive"
I like the fact that he doesn't want to discuss the cost of his yacht.
Good man...
I just got back from San Diego and our hotel was right in front of his yacht ..I was truly was truly fascinated with watching the crew working and dreaming of being on it..even just a quick tour....oh well
I sod this Yacht in North Vancouver back in 2010! really awesome!
I love to see people like that how make there dreams come true god bless him and give him happiness
I love hearing passionate people like him: passion makes hard work easy. When it's easy you excel, and when you excel, you make proper money. Good for him.
This man is very humble sounding we need more people like him in the world rich or poor
AMAZING!!!
I worked on it for two years
nothing like polishing stainless, scrubbing teak, and waxing.
Must of been quite an experience!
really enjoying your videos :)
That Yacht is beautiful! It's amazing how much money these people have.
Anyone here because of the GTA update coming out this Tuesday? I'm Sooooo excited!!!
What an inspiration! Extremely hard working, ambitious and true to his morals. A few years back I attended the Christian camp in Oregon a that he funded, and had an absolute blast. This is exactly the way I wish to live my life; pursue my dreams and ambitions and then give back to great causes. Very cool!
These guys I love, they make it on their own.
He was parked across from my resort in Cabo last week. Glad I got to see the inside with this video

I like this guy, very humble.
I admire people like that, who worked their asses to achieve this. Much better than filthy drug lords and corrupt politicians.
I like this guy. He's a rural kid at heart who loves to tinker with machinery. Seems like Anakin Skywalker with Palpatine's expense-account
Where do you find a pick up truck big enough to tow it to the lake.
i love the renovations to the new boat!! WOW! i think shes a keeper! xd
4:04 the TV is remote controlled?! Damn, I wish I had one of those futuristic things...
I liked the kids camp. That was a great thing for him to do.
thats Vancouver BC in the back ground to bad i didnt get to see this boat
Totally agree. The title of this was misleading.
I agree that people who earn rather then people who are given, deserve respect. The question is: how much is enough, even if you earned it all?? Where do you stop buying, and when do you start giving??
Waow! I love the interior of this super yacht. Not too outlandish but very lovely.
True, and your definition of fun changes as you get older anyway and tends not to involve things like wakeboarding, skiiing etc.
man all these forbe representatives are so boring to listen to
Just saw this yacht over the weekend, docked in San Diego just outside the convention center. Wow! It really is incredible. It was fun to learn the story behind it.

Im in front of the yatch right now (port of miami)
Its kinda nice to see a rich person so humble
Family!!! Wish you saw your employees as friends and family. My grandmother told me a different side of the rags to riches story.
Better than 'The Wolf of Wall Street'.
He seems like a nice guy. Cool boat, I wish him well.
Seems like a decent guy, he's done well. Wish I'd seen opportunities in my youth I know now I had. That's a beautiful boat that would never exit without the rich
I'm in san diego watching this video and this boat is right next to me

Sick ass ride, Bro.
Ha, I have never thought of it that way. You are right and must be pretty sharp minded.
Dennis sounds like a man of pure class.
do more states mean more government spending, I'm just wondering cause I'm canadian
Beautiful boat.
what has he done with his old yacht, Attessa III?
Yeah. It'd be interesting to experience that kind of wealth and income. If so I'd have a yatch built that was bigger then abramovic's, say 163 or 193 meters long, and the hull would be in maroon, with gold letters for her name.

his lil boat puts all those new towers in the middle east and south asia to shame. very beautiful style, and classy.
I like this guy, seems like a good humble dude
"just a a great machine" he says. Well, he is level.
Dennis Washington seems like quite a nice bloke.
i agree ...a down to earth guy who made money the hard way unlike alot of billionaires who robb from people
good on you sir make the most , it make me so happy to the success , have fun
beautiful boat and what seems to be an amazing man...
I think it's a little bit different when you have a quarter billion dollar yacht with remote control shades, tv, etc, than has one singular 17 inch tv with a remote control. But you can feel rich if you would like to! There's nothing wrong with that.
If I had that thing, I would never walk on land again.
Saw it docked. It was huge.
Huge is an understatement 😂 it’s a behemoth of a ship 😅 hard to capture it’s massiveness in the video
@@42fiftyI wish he woulda let me and the kids hop on board and check it out! 😂
Thanks i was thinking was it an over seas territory, looked like the pacific to me.
Funny how most of the yachts on these forbes videos are in bermuda
Where is the boat?
I will to have a boat like this very soon...yeah right!
Is that an Ontario flag on the yacht??
Oh, wow, INCREDIBLE! Yep, no doubt he worked super hard for that...but...sadly there's lots of other people who work their butts off for peanuts. At least Mr. Washington does a lot of good for people, like the kids' camp they talked about here. Good for you, Mr. Washington! Cheers!
beautiful yacht!
same. I dont hate rich people, i strive to be successful like them!

Inspired.
Great.
Lovely! 💫❤️
I like him, he built a camp for kids. they are all having fun in it :)
good for this dude.. I'm super frikkin jealous.!!

Strange. I met his dad a decade ago, his son seems like a cool dude.

I did the sheet metal work in the engine room
You cannot fix desire and ability.
how much cost this?
