Good video thanks, it helped. I just fitted the bushes in the aluminium housings, pair only £18 from ebay, not worth pressing bushes and I didn't have a 50mm socket or similar. The job was hard enough as it was very difficult to remove from my 16 year old golf, the rubber was bonded to the rusted steel hexagon of the control arm, that's with a selection of crow bars. It helped to knock a small chisel between the steel hex and rubber to break the seal and spray wd40 in. Not for the inexperienced. The stretch bolts should ideally be replaced and torque wrench used: 18mm Bolt = 70nm then 90 degree turn 16mm Bolts = 50nm then 90 degree turn. Hope this helps someone :)

Great Video, but you really should use new bolts as VW use stretch bolts ie you tighten the bolt up to a certain torque setting (in this case 70 /18mm bolt nm and 50nm for the 16s) and then keep turning a further 90 degrees. The bolt is then considered tight. Obviously the old bolds will have been stretched and will probably break if you try stretching them again. The more expensive route of buying the complete unit does usually include new bolts. This is the best practice way but in these financially challenged times who the hell am I to say?

Thanks for watching hoped it helped you out. Sorry about the Background music bit annoying. Early days of YouTubing mess the edit up.

Thx pal. My front wishbone rear bushings are cracked and when I brake the front end wobbles badly. I have new disks and pads on so just wondering if it's the bushings

It might be worth a try, or could be the brake caliper sliders seized

So the 16 mm bolt closer to the wheel just snapped a few mm after trying to get it off, am I fucked?

To be honest yes. You will need to drill it out or put new sub frame on.sorry mate

@@TEAMR4ULTV angle grinder on the old bushing cast and vice grips is a no go? 😂I bought the assembled bushing with the cast so I don't have to press it
