- This is a review I did of the new PMW-500. I was in between shoots when I did this so it's a bit rough and ready. The PMW-500 is Sony's new 50Mb/s 4:2:2 solid state camcorder. It's really nice, I like it a lot, being a combination of the excellent PDW-700 sensors with the low power and light weight PMW-350 back end.
How cameras over the last 5 years have changed !
I have to use it this this year.

there no reasons now, the Canon C300 is what you are looking for. Only 10K, BBC approved and it takes 4K photo lenses which are much cheaper and future proof! Get your self this Sony camera and pay top money for a decent lens. The look of the C300 is taking over and you won't bake the bank. Cheerio!
yep I agree and now 4 months on I do understand the advanteges of these camcorders over dslrs for some things but others the dslr will win . tbh if you have the money I would have both a camcorder and dslr which im planning on doing soon ....but yep the c300 is amazing but still out of my budget aha
Hello Alister! ! Recently watched and extremely enjoyed your video tutorial! I just got a Sony XDCAM and discovered that I can put my SXS to SD card adapter directly into my card reader on my computer, transfer the files to my capture drive, the files show up as a folder called BRAV! Inside this fold is another folder called CLR! Inside this folder are lots of Sub folders containg the actual video files! I have to open each folder individually, view it with my Windows Media Player then Rename and Save to an Internal SSD Capture Drive location! Then when I go into Adobe I go into Media Browser, locate the Videos in the SSD Capture Drive then Media Exporter automaticaly Exports them and then the files finally pop-up into thumbnails! This is too many extra steps and very time consuming!I What is the most effective way to import XDCAM footage into Adobe Premiere without having to go through ao many steps? What are your thoughts?

I stil prefer my 700 Butt as he says this is verrrrry good hyrid between the 350 and the 700 and its great to have 4 separate audio controls Ive added PMW 500 to my three PMW 700s'

Without meaning to sound foolish, im new to this higher level of camera, you mentioned monochrome viewfinders - what use is there for monochrome viewfinders? surely colour is better?
So it looks like CCD sensors are better, why Sony uses CMOS sensor on other cameras?

I DO NOT GET IT !!!! why spend thousands and thousands on somee camera when really the image may bee sharp yes but its sooo dull and boring and old fashioned seriously dslrs really are the way forwards and yes i do understand he advanteges of a pro hd camcorder for television and dslrs arent really ready for televisions yet ( although they do use them for adverts now )as today i worked along side a pro media team today but yeh i just want a real reason as to why they ARE better and so much money
so inconvenient and expensive compare to the Canon C300!

well I suppose there's nothing wrong with low budget ?? because they seem to be getting better results ahaha and btw this is a crap broadcast camera , if you were to shoot a music video on this you would be silly and that music video would be low budget ....
I know its not about what you look but you have to IRON your shirts!1
