Hi Stu, I have a similar contraption, used it for very small washing loads like socks etc when we had water restrictions. It is alot of effort but useful. I soaked my clothes for a few hours before washing, worked very well. Nice to see you.
The way things are going here in the UK, we shall soon be going back to the wash dolly and tub, like our grandmothers until the first washings machines were available. That looks like a very useful gadget Stu.
True story, I bought a large salad spinner to do my hand washing😂. Works well, just really be careful to use the tiniest amount of detergent. I would suggest you only use half a teaspoon Max(you might get away with less) and dissolve it first, it is the agitation that does most of the work. Did rinse the load? If you add a bit of vinegar to the rinse you will get softer clothes. The vinegar smell disappears when dry. Cheers
It took me a while to realise the amount of soap to use. I wasted a lot of water trying to get the soap out. My bathroom looked like a post flood disaster site.
For several months I was without a washing machine and hand washed underware and tops in a small amount of water every other day. A friend kindly let me do a bedding wash at her place. The only issue I had was drying clothes in the winter - I have arthritis in my hands and so I can't squeeze the clothes dry enough. I'm not sure this item would have helped me Tbh. Good idea to review it for us tho as I was thinking about it. Thanks Stu
You can buy a Twin tub for between $100 and $150 and you can wash small loads of clothes. And the spin cycle is amazing, everything comes out a little damp, NOT WET.
It is cute. I sometimes wash my clothes by hand just using a bucket and soaking the clothes a bit and then squeezing them out and renewing the water to rinse until water runs clean.
When hurricane Michael went through and we were out of power for 10 days I did wash our underwear and face cloths in a salad spinner, well used the salad spinner to spin out the water.
As there is no motor, I can see no reason why a little more water added could hurt. I have a small electric countertop washer (Zeny) and it allows for more water to slosh the clothes around easier during the impelling. If I had this I'd definitely add more water. Wash. Set one load aside, in a drain basket, wash another load, then drain and rinse both loads in the rinse water to save water. This is what I do with the Zeny as well. I then start another small load in that rinse water. (Yes, I do pay for water, so conserving is imperative.) In addition I have a Ninja spin dryer and I use that water to add to the washer. It's a bit of work but sure beats the laundromat, which I only use for bedding these days. I'm considering this salad spinner machine as a backup. Thanks. 👍
With the energy prices hikes , that would be great for doing socks pillow cases and such etc when you have not got a full load to do, hang them outside. After washing i would put some luke warm water in with some softner like a rinse, I only just found this video will have to keep an eye out if they get them again
As usual, you’ve got me thinking, great video for trying something I never considered! Now that I’m washing only for myself, I can see the benefits . Rinse with some white vinegar if anything gets musty. 👍👍
If you spin in one direction for one minute, then reverse direction for one minute, back and forth like that, would be more like a regular machine. Don't forget to rince well until water comes out clear. Not a bad idea.
Hi Stu, I'm a new subscriber and my daughter, who is a new mom, is looking for something like this. Do you think it'd do well with soiled diapers? Also, did you do a rinse cycle? I love being frugal and I'm looking forward to watching your other videos! Thanks! Brenda 🍂
Hello Brenda thank you so much for subscribing. For those items I would probably say no. I only put light stuff in there.and yes I definitely rince. 👍👍
My washing machine has a very short cycle that is only 15 minutes long. I've been using that a lot more often recently for clothes that want refreshing. I wouldn't use it to shift stains, but its otherwise absolutely fine. I don't think I could use something like this for all the family's washing. It would be too much. I can see how its handy for a few bits though.
Enjoyed the video but with such a small " salad spinner" you would be spending several hours to get through your weekly washing. But I can see as a short term backup or for traveling.
Saw your review on Aldi website - great!!
Thank you and welcome. Think that review payed off 👍
Helpful demonstration, thanks. I had wondered about these a while ago , but could only find more expensive ones.
Thank you. Yeh some are ridiculous
That was interesting. I could see this being used for tea towels, socks, garden gloves, etc. I think you made a wise purchase.
❤️👍👍

Thank you Debbie. Yes I soak aswell 😊

Cheers Betty. I think your right
That machine looks pretty useful for a few items if in an apartment or camping without electricity.

Yes I rinsed bernie. Iam getting the hang of it now thank you 😊

Lol oh dear. Yeh takes some getting used too
Thank you for showing the machine. I was on the fence about buying one
Sure looks like fun... easy to use and certainly cheaper than using the washing machine👍
Oh I had fun 😆

I think it might take some drying in the winter

Honest review, thank you!
Your very welcome 👍👍

What a good idea
Some washing pod instructions say to spin 1 way an then the other to mimic regular washing machine agitation,
When hurricane Michael went through and we were out of power for 10 days I did wash our underwear and face cloths in a salad spinner, well used the salad spinner to spin out the water.
We have a new plunger with holes drilled in it and a large bucket. I have tried the Wonderwash also but prefer the bucket system. Great video🙂
That's awesome
That's a lot of work. You should get a twin tub portable machine, it's small, less work and spins clothes very well.

Thank you.white vinegar that's a good idea 💡 👍👍
Easier to just use the sink I think. Fill with quite warm water add some detergent, agitate for a few minutes, drain, repeat process, rinse with water
I didn't know Aldi was selling those things! You can definitely save some money washing a few items a week and less energy in the large machine.
👍👍

I never put the amount of laundry detergent the recommend
Exactly what I though salad spinner
You’re looking great brother hope you’re well
Thanks bro
That might handy for people who live in cars or vans.
That's really what it's ment for
Or for women to wash delicate items like expensive bras, lingerie, underwear, that's what they said here in the USA when advertising it.

Yes it's definitely just few a few items think you would have arms like popeye after a while
Might be an idea to do it a second time with fresh water and a little fabric softener. We all do what we can to save the pennies X
👍👍👍👍👍
I would use this as aanual spun dryer only
That’s great. It’s a big salad spinner.
😆
Did you rinse your cloths twice like a normal washing machine ?😳
No as I don't use alot of powder
Two years on does it still work ok ?!
Yeh still works but I think if anyone is getting one see if you can go bigger
Did you rinse?
I do now I know what iam doing
Loads of salad, sounds positive 🤣
You need to put in your clothes inside out for washing. They will last longer😉
👍👍👍👍

Thank you Carolyn. Yes I agree. For someone like me on there own it's good but definitely not for a family
Maybe for camping trip with no electricity....
Washing socks and baby clothes. Would work
Perfect for that. Iam still using it but could do with it being bigger
