20 Coasters That Could Be GONE in Five Years - Halfway Checkpoint

- On December 3, 2019, I released a video looking at 20 coasters in North America that could be gone by the end of 2024. That was almost exactly 2.5 years ago, so we have officially reached the halfway point of those predictions. Let's look at those coasters and see which ones are already gone, which ones are still in danger, and which ones are now safe.

I like this concept of having a checkpoint for prediction videos. Hope you do more of these!
I SO hope you're wrong about Gemini. That would be devastating, it was my first "grown up" coaster (in 1981!) Granted, it scared me to the point that I never got on it again until 1987.
I’m almost willing to bet RMC hybrid conversions are nearing the end as far as US parks go. Sure, the pandemic has shaken things up so we don’t know entirely how many projects the company has planned, but with the big resurgence of B&M and Intamin in the states, it’s a wonder if they’ll be getting the edge over the competition.
At least RMC has their Single Rail Raptor model that's seeing success with Six Flags, so there's that.
@@JCBro-yg8vd There's also still the option of ground-up RMCs.
@@jellybeans95 After all the problems Lightning Rod has faced, I don't know if RMC will wanna roll the dice on another ground-up hybrid, even if it's not a launched one.
@@JCBro-yg8vd LRod wasn't a hybrid, at first. Also, half of its issues is the launch. If the IBox conversion is finished, I imagine it'll be its only real issue.
@@JCBro-yg8vd You know Arie Force One and Zadra are the only ground up hybrids, and most of the hybrids don’t have much down time.
But I agree with the raptors. Those are for sure gonna sell to all sorts of parks.
There have been rumours flying for the better part of 3 years that Kentucky Kingdom would remove T3. Now, there are survey markers all around the coaster's plot of land. I'm surprised you didn't include that one!
aged well
Excalibur is more than likely not going anywhere (at least for the next 5-10 years), as it just got a new control panel and the park seems to be taking good care of the ride. New control panels are not cheap
Came here to say the same. I love my little gem at the back of the park please don't take it from me!
Same with Nighthawk, it got a repaint and a new control panel
Love this ride too! I hope it will stay for a long time. Maybe a paint job though. But I think if they put more rides around the area it’s in more people would go back there. I know it’s in a flood zone but it hasn’t flooded for a while now and if they built up around it some more it might help. I’m just trying to think of ways to preserve this gem.
As a SFDK employee here’s what I know of V2. They are doing a rehaul on it. they are giving it a new train and changing its old launch system. It should open for Fourth of July fest.
Ive been hearing rumors kong at SFDK could be getting the axe since a lot of people complain about the headbanging and roughness but i just give up on that coaster this point they seem to not get rid of it even with how bad it is and yes even i have roden kong its not really that good of a ride would love to see a b&m surf go there since of height restriction
@@Rose34561 I operate Kong and it’s not leaving just yet. We are getting the red train back soon and then the yellow one should go back into maintenance as it is pretty bad but hopefully after it’s overhaul it should be back. Now I can’t say the same for dare as something unfortunate happened to it recently
@@Bogarttherideop oh wow hopefully maintance fixes the headbanging and yes i think cool to see a b&m surf at SFDK because its perfect for height restriction could be animal named ride like 🐬
P.S. Ik it may seem like i was a little harsh on Kong but i do care about SFDK and want to see the rides do well just praying snd hoping the maintance fixes the headbanging thats all i ask for
@@Rose34561 I hope maintenance fixes it too. But I would think a surf coaster would be interesting. If they removed daredevil they could easily fit it in. Well maybe not easy but they could find a way.
Great Video as always!! If Hurler got RMC’d that would be on of the best things Cedar Fair can do a good RMC that packs a punch, next to an amazing top tier Giga Fury 325 that would be one of the top 5 1-2 punches at any park for sure.
I've heard rumblings that Alpine Bobsled is on the chopping block and Six Flags is scrambling to replace it. Supposedly it was jumping the brakes during testing this spring, so SF doesn't want to operate it.
I can believe it that thing was rough going into those brakes
Update: Buffalo Bills reopened two days ago and had a full opening ceremony with a mascot, rope cutting and everything. that said, no rides were open “this time” according to the park and apparently it’s just open while they throw a concert. it’s hard to predict what will happen next.
Well at least reopening the resort is a step in the right direction.
Top Thrill Dragster is done at Cedar Point! No way are they gonna reopen it in 2023 after keeping it down for an entire season despite its popularity. Cedar Point has hated Dragster, and the 2021 accident might have just given them an excuse to shut it down. They're just deciding right now what they'll have to get to replace it, because there's gonna be a backlash. It won't be like when Mantis or Mean Streak closed, people will be screaming "Murder!" at CP.
Ninja has to be one of those coasters that makes you wonder why it even exists anymore. Even if nothing replaces it, that's an improvement.
Invertigo could very well be InvertiGONE, though I think Kings Island first needs to get something good to make up for scraping Vortex since that plot of land is empty.
Since Kings Dominion got an S&S Free Spin, perhaps Kings Island could follow suit. A Free Spin would add some variety to the park despite being a clone.
You were right about wildcat at Hersheypark. It's closing 7/31 and getting rmc'd.
We have finally reached the point where tons if old b&m coasters. It will be like all the arrow coasters that were removed.
I don't think they have meet their maximum cycle numbers except for ones that operate year round like the ones in Florida
I could genuinely see Alphine Bobsled getting the axe first and its spare parts being donated to SFOT for La Vibora. The giant amphitheater at SFOT has been removed from the park map and I've always felt that it could potentially be a prime location for a large coaster.
This here is fine wine
Carowinds needs to take out the Hurler, Nighthawk, Vortex and Cyclone. I rode the Cyclone last week and the ride was absolutely horrific.
Nighthawk and Vortex are beside each other and the Hurler and Cyclone are relatively close. Getting rid of those 4 mediocre coasters and replacing them with 2 new modern coasters would make an amazing paring with the much championed Fury 325, and Intimidator.
Agreed! I have sentimental attachment to the hurler and Carolina cyclone since they were my first coasters ever BUT they are intolerable now. I wouldn’t want either of them to be a kids first ride. I’d love to see all four gone but only if they’re replaced quickly thereafter
1. Nighthawk got a repaint and a new control system it's not going anywhere for quite awhile
2. Excalibur also got a new control system this year that means that ride is also not getting removed any time soon
3. Cedar Point sent Wicked Twisters parts to Dorney which means Possessed is good for a bit. I think it's more likely it's sister at Valleyfair goes first
4. Cheetah has been scrapped no RMC treatment (not surprising Herschend hates Wild Adventures)
I wonder if the new wooden coaster at Dorney would remove possessed or if it would go around it
@@AirtimeThrills I honestly think the plan was scrapped or heavily delayed due to COVID. They wouldn't send Wicked Twisters parts there if they were removing it soon
@@AirtimeThrills No they literally just said that Wicked Twisters parts are being used for Possessed.
Great video!
lmao that Cheetah Hunt dig got me laughing
I feel like since Carowinds is having their 50th next year, they're going to go BIG for a 2023 coaster, and it's either:
-One big addition (like a GCI or something B&M) that will eat the crowds
OR
-Carowinds does a two for one, transition Vortex to floorless and Hurler to RMC in the same year.
That last bit seems like a pipe dream really, but they could do both AND throw in an RMC Raptor for less money than it'd cost to buy a B&M lmao
Nighthawk actually isn’t going anywhere sadly. They just got firehawks trains and they are waiting to get a new control panel rn
How about axe La Víbora (despite my family loving it) and giving us another Magic Mountain castoff like Scream?
Love the idea of checking up on your predictions!
Buy or sell prediction:canadas wonderland will get a rmc hybrid coaster within the next 5 years
_Wilde Beast_ has the better layout for a hybrid but is reportedly running well now, so _Minebuster_ would be the better candidate if it were made into something like _Untamed_ at Walibi Holland.
Sell because of Canadian law
FWIW, I was chatting with a ride op at SFGAm and he mentioned that Demon just got refurbished trains. That investment suggests to me it’s safe for a while - though I am also desperately hoping the park gets an RMC raptor, too, as it’s my home park!
Demon is not leaving Great America for now as this year and last year a bunch of awesome new special effects were added to it along with the station being painted and themed.
You sure nailed Wildcat...
Nice, i remember this video back in 2019. Some of them that are already gone are Goliath at SFNE, and Wicked Twister
I wonder how much longer Tennessee Tornado has at Dollywood. A lot of the arrow loopers seemed to have died out already, but as far as I know TT has been running incredibly recently!
TT is a great coaster, I can't see it being removed any time soon.
I might be a little biased here since CP is my home park and Gemini was my first big coaster, but I don’t think Gemini is going anywhere. It’s too much of a fan favorite, both for the park’s local clientele and others, to get the axe in the next decade, at least from how I see it going to the park 4-5 times a year. I think after WT’s removal and TTD’s extended closure/possible removal, they’d be looking to add something new especially with the prime real estate by the lake that WT freed up.
ironically the 2 i was most curious about (American Eagle and Nighthawk) are still both in the very likely to be changed/removed/etc category AND we still don't have a definitive answer on the future plans of either lol. love these prediction vids! oh and also i REALLY hope you're right about the demon at great america, i'd be glad to see it replaced with anything smoother honestly i've never been a fan of it
Nighthawk will not be getting removed they got a new operator panel and a fresh coat of paint.
Nailed it with wildcat
Should had been on the list Grizzly at Kings Dominion seems to just be limping along rode it in late 2021I have been riding it since 1990 last year I noticed a turn is got way too much movement like it was close to risking falling over and I was on the back car and a little past halfway if felt like we were dragging got to station to find out the car had slipped off the tracks as you could feel the vibration and hear the wheels still spinning it seems like its on its last leg and on Reddit theres a post from May that says it is was closed indefinitely due to a track failure during testing
This thing suuuucked when I rode it in July....but it was open so if it was closed in May it wasn't for very long.
Just opened after a 12:31 .
Absolutely love Demon at SFGA and would hate to see it go. Guaranteed walk on and I've easily ridden it more than any other coaster, but it is probably time.
Just rode Hurler at Carowinds last weekend for the first and last time. Painful. Zero airtime. Saw it running with 2 or 3 people on a train. It can go yesterday. Pointless ride. Too small to RMC.
I'm BEGGING Sea World to take away Tidal Twister for a small scale coaster with airtime
TTD shouldnt be demolished. Fix it up and relocate it to one of the closer and weaker CF parks like Michigans Adventure or Dorney Park. It’ll automatically be the standout coaster that both desperately need
It's not going to Dorney though because dorney is near six flags great adventure and they have kingda ka
Until I experience a raptor for myself, I won’t make any predictions on where they should go. I plan to get to six flags great adventure towards the end of summer I suppose.
Some of this aged pretty well
The ones I added on to the end actually were the best ones.
Rest In Peace Blue Streak
As a SFNE pass holder...PLEASE remove Flashback! Terrible Vekoma Boomerang. If they tore it down at least I could take a good picture of Wicked Cyclone...
My thoughts. Would love possessed to get sent to wither WoF or MiA. Also, demon needs to go, its awful and the land could be used for a raptor
Cga is closing in less than 10 years due to the land sale they will not spend bad money on a closing park.
I started working at dorney park this year and possessed has been closed since the park opened I'm not sure if it they will fix it up or not
Excalibur isn’t going away for a least another 10+ years
Flight Deck and Time Warp at Wonderland should be axed soon
Wonderland is my home park. These 2 get a lot of dislike. I agree but I want at least 1 ride on Time Warp. Kingswood Theatre is being removed now so that will be a very large plot of land for a future coaster.
Flight Deck will probably get scrapped so they can have some spare parts for Thunderhawk at Michigan's Adventure.
I get sad when arrows close down
Alpine Bobsled is the one that I think is in the most danger. I'm not even sure if it has opened yet this year and there are rumors it's done for real this time.
It's just tough to say yes - they are tearing this out - knowing they're never gonna replace it
@@AirtimeThrills Im betting on water park expansion if they get rid of it
@@AirtimeThrills demon at CGA could be in danger because as a goldpass user in 2021 CGA demon was broken down for long peroids of time and ik people would hate to see it go but like grizzly its not running well and i hope to god cedar fair does something for the hunk of junk grizzly at CGA like its ride ops are extremely bad and really slow it needs RMC treatment not titan track
Not a fan of this pacing. It's too quick. Sometimes we need that diabolical break run to ease us around the bend.
With a little over a year until the deadline, let's check on progress again:
* Grizzly: well, uh... I guess they aren't in danger of replacing it
* Wildcat: has been RMC'd
* Top Thrill Dragster: changed it enough to qualify as a new ride?
* Alpine Bobsled: gone
* Sand Serpent: gone
* Tidal Twister: gone
* Demon: they got rid of some of the rock work, which is potentially a bad sign
Kinda weird that the additional ten already have more successes than the original 20.
Yeah I smashed the 2nd round. 1st round not as much
Nighthawk is probably gonna stay at Carowinds for at least 5 more years. It just got a new operator panel, repaint, and parts from the trains of firehawk. Hurler is likely to be removed, but the dinosaurs alive plot is where they're probably build rides next, with the rumored Aviation themed area around Afterburn possibly coming next year.
An aviation theme would be awesome since NC is home to the Wright brothers first flight
I think your accuracy would have been much higher if Covid didn’t happen. If parks didn’t already invest for the new rides, they probably cancelled potential ones or delayed them until they figured out what was gonna happen.
Agreed that's alot of major work to put into a supposed dying attraction.
@@coreymason7017 thats exactly what i was thinking
Bro where are am i. I work there and have never heard of this haha
Having great America as my home park, I think demon is safe… they have given that thing so many face lifts that I don’t see then taking it out… American eagle is a toss up for me… what I think they will be taking out though is buccaneer battle and the go karts and putting in a coaster there instead… or at least something big… buccaneer battle has just been collecting dust for years and this year they drained the pool and blocked off the entrance area… the bell tolls
Yeah, definitely seems that Bucaneer Battle won't be coming back at this point. Not so sure about the go karts as building a ride between the two plots would mean it would have to go through the park's backstage area, but I could see them finding a way to make it work.
I do genually fear for flash vertical velocity’s future. It’s been holding a lot of electricity over its 2 year down period so anything could happen. Hoping that it does open back up soon
I’m a Discovery Kingdom Employee and they are giving it a new launch system and trying to reopen it on the fourth
@@cyrus7929 This fourth of July? in 2022? Seriously?!!! I'm super excited!
@@VampireInBlack Yes and I also think they are giving it new trains
"Sand Serpent is just there." That's exactly how I felt in 2020 "oh I guess I should do this, it's here after all."
I'm holding out hope that CP could be considering retrofitting TTD with a more modern LSM system and scrapping the hydraulic launch.
Gemini just had some track repainted and Nighthawk is down until July-ish for upgrades. So I think both of those are safe for a couple years
We finally made it to Great America last weekend along with Indiana Beach. We got one ride each on American Eagle, it was okay and Demon which you couldn't pay me to ride again. The Big 4 there is about as good as anyone's. We thought Maxx Force is way underrated. You weren't wrong in saying The Lost Coaster Of Superstition Mtn is the strangest coaster you've ridden. We thought so too but totally enjoyed it.
I love Viper and Goliath
@@koalakyle19 Viper was definitely the surprise of the trip. We both agreed it was the next best after the Big 4. And you can't help but love Whizzer.
What were your rankings on the top four?
What's the big 4? I've only ever thought of the big 3 being Maxx Force, Goliath, and Raging Bull. If I were to have a big 4 tho it would definitely be the last 3 i mentioned, and Viper.
@@zachc3282 Maybe he's thinking x-flight.
But I personally can't stand the restraints on that ride
I would like to see Viper get Morganed (ie Phantom treatment). They wouldn't need to worry about capitol investment because footers and mechanics would be reused (along with a ton of supports besides the lift hill which would be unchanged). Just an airtime filled layout that would work as a popular new ride but it would cost so much less.
Who are you suggesting would get the contract to redesign it?
@@jdonovan74 Joe Draves most likely. Chance Rides has completely absorbed the remnants of Morgan, and I don't think they'd do another conversion similar to Phantom's Revenge. However, the Chance Hyper GTX model gives an amazing ride and those trains/restraints are rated for inversions and I think they're compatible with the old Arrow track design which would allow retention of the station, lift, and low stress areas like the switch tracks.
Definitely seems like a better option than scrapping it entirely unless there's something wrong with the footers.
@@jdonovan74 Morgan is now part of Chance, so Chance. Using the same track they used for Lightning Run (which is identical to the Morgan track on Phantom), which is Arrow compatible.
That would certainly be interesting. When the park opened, Demon was known as Turn of the Century and had two airtime hills where the loops and tunnel currently are.
If Chance were to rework the coaster, I could see it getting rethemed back to Turn of the Century and those airtime hills brought back (albeit with the exit to the second hill raised due to the path that runs underneath it).
I think Canada's wonderland will want to hit 20 coasters before they start removing. Wild Beast and Dragon Fyre are most likely. Flight Deck and Time warp are the least. Wonderland's attendance is skyrocketing. Ride capacity is their highest concern right now. Unless there is a massive mechanical issue, they will prioritize the unpopular rides first.
As much as we enthusiasts (rightfully) dunk on Flight Deck and Time Warp, those rides are massively popular with the GP. On a busy long weekend those rides will have hour+ lines while Wild Beast and Dragon Fyre are walk ons.
Flight deck never gets more than 20-25 minutes, nobody likes it. Wild beast actually gets lines
American eagle will get some type of refurb as village of gurnee said if that’s torn down they can build anything there as it’s too close to expressway so I would think refurbished
Yeah, I feel Top Thrill is done, especially if the train salvaging Knotts rumors are true.
But I don’t think they will announce it till they have Wicked Twister’s replacement up in 2023.
They want to soften that blow, but they don’t have a replacement coaster in mind as TTD’s incident was so unexpected.
So they will use Wicked Twister’s replacement as a distraction/bandaid for when TTD gets torn down, with no replacement locked in (yet).
What was TTD’s “incident”?
@@MustangChick922
A piece broke off and hit a customer in the waiting line next to the ride, and left her with severe brain damage. We don't know how bad, but considering all her statements are from her family, very very bad.
The ride was first closed for the investigation over it.
@@Tay_Sports
There is rumors TTD trains have been dismantled and sent to Knotts for spare parts for Xcelerator, which currently is down with its own issues.
This is on top of CP seemingly removing most of their TTD merch.
Obviously the circumstances surrounding TTD are horribly tragic, and no one wanted TDD to go out this way…but…of all the “crown jewel” rides at cedar point TDD is/was the worst. Between the wait times, short ride duration, and general reliability/downtime I think it’s overdue for a major revamp or replacement.
The juice isn’t worth the squeeze for TDD especially when other nearby rides are much better.
I think Tidal Twister at SWSD is done. It would not surprise me that Top Thrill Dragster and Flashback at SFNE are going to be done real soon as well. Dragster will be a huge loss and they really need something huge to replace it. I think you will get a higher percentage on these current 10 than your original 20. I think those 3 are a lay-up.
He NAILED Wildcat.
If Vortex gets relocated I think they’d throw either Michigan’s Adventure or Valleyfair a bone. But I think demolition is more likely because it’s 30 years old which is old for a relocation
I saw somebody on a forum suggest they improve dragster's reliability by replacing the launch with multi-pass LSMs and a switch track / back spike added to allow it to reach the necessary speed... I have to say I'm totally on board with this :)
I like the idea, but they would need to do some major modifications to the ride (like move the station) to make that work.
They would have to lengthen the launch track tho
Thatd cost an astronomical amount. Not only would they need to retrack the entire ride bc they dont even make that track style anymore, it wouldnt fit in the current plot of land.
At that point you're basically rebuilding the whole ride and that doesn't make sense to do.
That seems super unlikely but possible
Six Flags St. Louis is my park and it always seemed like it was the forgotten park to me. Around half of the attractions are from before 2000 and the other half is mostly from before 2010. We've barely had anything "new" and I think what we have are either rethemed older rides or rides relocated. The rides aren't bad but some do seem outdated.
Cheetah at Wild Adventures has been torn down, No RMC unfortunately….
Herschend hates that park
@@AdamSmith-gs2dv nah they don’t hate it, they do take good care of it. But yeah my home park sucks…
With my recent visit to discovery kingdom, the flash didn’t even have a train in the station or maintenance area making me more skeptical about its future. The paint job was a little extra hope it would be open to get the credit but nope, I’m now 0 for 2
Gemini and mine ride were both painted
I don’t think Ninja is in danger, as a person who’s home park is SF St Louis. There is low ridership, but six flags will probably never give us another coaster, so I don’t imagine they would take on out
They just fixed Demon’s effects though!
They did the same at California's great America but to be honest its on the same boat as grizzly because in 2021 demon was down quiet a lot due maintenance so its only a matter of time for cedar fair and yes ik they just updated the special effects but it breaks down quiet a lot and is down for long peroids of time
5:52 omg airtime thrills got it right
If anyone cares of course….. but as a Buffalo NY native I visited Six Flags Darien Lake (my home park) last weekend and in my opinion Predator is running FANTASTIC! The Titan track HUGELY solved the issues of rough banked turns and back breaking bunny hills I endured on my last visit a couple months ago (before the retract on some sections). It’s nice to have a solid wooden coaster near my home!
I was praying for an rmc but the titan track worked wonders when i was there, not rough at all
I actually like time warp at Canada's Wonderland, it's not as bad as I thought but it actually enjoying for me
Things that’ll happen before the next part: The next presidential election, I become a teenager, and Dragster reopens as a completely new ride.
Well, Grizzly’s odds just went up....waaay up.
RIP CGA :,(
Before the pandemic I'd say Viper Magic Mountain was gone but.... post pandemic it has been riding incredibly forceful and good. They might do the most to save it for 5 more years
They refurbed it during COVID
I loved Dragon Frye at Canada Wonderland but I disliked Demon at SFGA.
Ride Time Warp at Canada’s wonderland while you can. It is a distinctive roller coaster that is hard to describe. But, It is time for it to go.
I'd be devastated if they closed gemini. Easily the most underacted ride at Cedar Point.
Wow you accurately predicted that wildcat is going to be rmc'd Good Job!
I’ve never seen anyone check in halfway, and its a really good idea. I guess I only have to wait another 2.5 years to see the results!
2 years later Demon is 100% safe for at least 10 years
What about Judge Roy Scream at SFOT? It takes up a long narrow space next to the lake. It would be really cool to see a Giga incorporating portions over the lake. Maybe that’s not possible, but man that would be cool!! And yes. La Vibora needs to go!
Titan has been down for like 8 or 9 months at this point, wonder if that will go
@@CoasterGaming I would hope not. Titan is the coaster that really made me love coasters, so it has a special place in my heart. However, Titan is one of three Coasters built by Giovanola, which is now out of business. So who knows if it’s sustainable long term. Werner Stengel designed it though!
@@jbirdaspec I would really want them to keep it open as well, one of my first coasters I rode in 2011 that was over 200ft
@@CoasterGaming To be honest I think Titan is safe. It’s only 21 years old and in my experience riding it since it opened it’s been reliable. Currently I heard it’s closed for refurbishment. So I think we go with that and go ride it as soon as it reopens. 👍
Loved that ride. Walked on 10 times in a row, no line, front and back seats open!
I think more would have been removed if it hadn’t been for COVID. With parks not being open for long periods and the cost it takes to remove coasters, then redeveloped the area. They wouldn’t have seen the return of investment they normally would get. I believe the pandemic saved a lot of coasters from the chopping block. Also with soaring gas prices, people traveling to parks will be cut down. So another lose of revenue. I don’t think we will see a lot of coasters removed. I believe you are correct on a lot of your picks. However i think the smaller parks for sure won’t be removing anything major at this time. Also bigger parks will hold on to coasters, as long as it’s bringing in some cash flow. As a whole, for the Industry. Don’t think will see a lot removed in the next few years.
I'm sure covid definitely axed new plans that would have replaced some of these. Thats my excuse for my 10% success rate
Oh yea, if that hadn’t of been a factor I’m sure we’d be looking at a very different coaster world now. I’m a KI local, so having the big hole where vortex sat. Is even more of a downer, because I’m sure plans for that got pushed back. What ever that may be.
Kind of hit the nail on the head for Dragster, depending on what a "reimagined ride experience" is
I think Cedar Point should remove Gemini for a dueling GCI
I think Gemini will last awhile. Maybe I am biased since I like it, but it gets good lines, and is good for families, but it is a bit dated. Does kind of fit the bill for large wooden coaster even though it is hybrid and doesn't have wooden track.
Who know how many plans the pandemic postponed or ruined it hard to tell and now with the current economic state what will change.
Yes, December 2019 was indeed simpler times! I was still in SoCal with Magic Mountain and Knotts Berry Farm as my home parks. And Gas being $3 as well! Oh how I miss those days!!
I think Viper is safe for now at Magic Mountain. I hope La Vibora goes soon. Haha
I really really want Vortex and Nighthawk to go at Carowinds. Nighthawk has some of the slowest dispatches I've ever seen and Vortex... well it's a rough standup coaster what other reasoning do you have. They could put something really cool in that combined plot, maybe a legit B&M Flyer, a wing, or dive. It's such a perfect spot for a big new coaster. Hurler needs to go too, I rode that once... never again. It was so unbelievably boring and rough.
After reading these comments most likely NIghthawk will not be gone anytime soon as I've heard that they got a new operator panel and a fresh coat of paint. But Vortex could possibly be on the chopping block.
3 minute gang! But seriously, loving this stuff. Looking forward to pt. 3 of your KI 50th anniversary documentary!
Thanks! I have 2 days to finish that 😬
If it wasn't for the great panini throwing a wrench in things, I bet a lot more of these 2019 predictions would have been removed.
Personally I think we should hold him to account for not seeing that pandemic coming ;)
And it looks like another one bit the dust. Rip dragster
Every day we're wrong about Viper getting the axe is a good day
I would be so sad if GA took out the demon! It’s one of my favorites. I was there a couple weeks ago for grad nite, and there was almost no line for it, so my friends and I went 3 times in a row. The theming is so fun, especially with all the lights at night. It was really cool, i’ve never seen there be a smoke machine on inside the mouth of that big face cave in the middle, and when we came around the corner and saw it smoking, we were all so shocked and exited! That coaster holds a special place in my heart as one of the only coasters I would actually get on as a kid and i’d be devastated if they got rid of it
They just repainted the entire station. That was the reason for the downtime last season. I don't see them removing it anytime soon.
Love the Demon and its theming! I mean, what other ride has a 70s disco song about it playing in the queue?
Also, cool to know the smoke effects are being used outside of fright fest this year! I haven't really had the time to go, so I haven't seen any of the changes yet (I was busy when my school had its grad night there).
As much as I don't want to admit, my gut says TTD will never return to the way it was
American Eagle is going nowhere. I was just there at the start of May and they had just finished retracking one side. So I don't see them making this investment then removing it.
I'd also say the Boss at Six Flags St. Louis because it might get RMC'd
Demon's plot is actually closer to 1000 feet. The turnaround diving into the rock-face-thing actually gets about to the back of X-Flight's station. I'm not convinced they'd only put a bigger raptor there...
Cheetah is Completely gone, the plot is an animal enclosure, There is not going to be an RMC Cheetah
It’s unlikely any wonderland coasters are on the way out anytime soon. The old dinosaurs alive plot is currently full of markers for tree removal, support placements, etc. the current rumour is a camp snoopy expansion plus a fire chaser express style family coaster which would fill our coaster gap for the next little bit.
Looks like you were correct!
