    Fitment vs optics: I've found that while the thicker pad is far more comfortable, the thinner pad puts my eyes closer to the optics which makes the entire screen clearly visible... I've been considering thickening the pad only at the outer edges to help comfort/light leak a bit without compromising the view quality.
    Power consumption/quadversity: I removed the right side module, and my battery life on the small battery went from 5 packs to about 15. With a second goggle battery, and the ability to run them off of a USB power bank (or a USB cable from the USB output of my 1s field charger that runs off of xt60), I haven't had any problem with running out of juice.
    I don't have enough patches to care for quadversity, but found removing the second module smoothed out antenna transitions between the two on the left module. More than acceptable for my current flying/locations.
    Screens look great to me, maybe those guys would need to use the color adjustments to their liking.... But the menu interface is horrible. And the beeping is ferocious. Considering a new module lately to have a different channel scan that isn't so slow and beeeeepy.

      Thank you for the detailed feedback.
      Thin foampad was not an option for my face, tons of light leak and my lashes touched the lens assembly all the time. I also felt the de-fogging fan on my eyes which can definitely dry them and become annoying.
      I agree with you on the removal of the second module to reduce power consumption but this defeats the purpose and price point "advantage" of the EV200D - using a different module does too. Unless they sell it as a barebones option with no receivers at all and a lower price.
      I liked how the screen looked as well but this is a personal taste too. Adjusting the saturation could help, that is true, but I have seen several similar comments on RCGroups and other discussion threads.

      Has anyone with a 3D printer considered using flexible filament to print a light-blocking 'skirt' to retro fit on top of / around the foam insert, lapping between the foam and the face? - 'Just a thought.

      Or, has anyone tried fitting the Fat Shark 'leather' face plate pads to the EV200D faceplate? Can it be made to fit? I find the EV200 stock foam pads too flimsy. The foam tears easily and the felt lining peels off too easily.

    To follow up what I previously said about the 200D goggle DVR. I recalled that I DID have a good video from these goggles when I first got them. I went back into my stuff and found I had made a video showing both the vids from the Caddx cam and the 200D goggles in a video I made of my Full Speed Tiny Leader 2s HD whoop. The DVR goggle video was great! But subsequent videos from the 200D were blown out "hot" looking. What was the difference? Seems that those AIO cams on my small whoops don't record good on the goggles but the HD cams do. That's the problem. I don't need the goggle DVR when I have a drone with its own HD DVR built in. It's on the small drones without a DVR and lower grade cam that you need the quality DVR in the goggles. That where the 200D fails. It doesn't record what you see from those small cameras such as Tiny Hawks.

    I bought EV200D about a half of a year ago and i can't say anything wrong about these goggles. As You mentioned , it's a battery eater with stock quadversity setup. Battery lasts for about an hour of flying. I've swapped stock recievers with the Eachine Pro58 and the battery "started" to last about 20-25 mins longer than before. That's a noticeable change.
    Overall EV200D is a good product and worth of it's price. The dvr is annoying some times but the screens resolution repays that nuance. With no doubt i can say it's good to have that goggles in my backpack :)

      @@muteFPV With original firmware there was a noticeable difference. Lot of statics here and there, especialy in tighter and more "multipath" enviroments. I've uploaded "Pirx FPV" firmware into the reciever and there was a nice surprise both in functionality and reception. Great review, I own ones already, and my observations are in line with yours. A minor thing, you wrote in the comparison that the receiver(s) is built in, when it should be modular. I love my ev200d, antenna choice and placement is key for good dual diversity (it's not really quad diversity, its dual x2) also you can power them with 3s or 4s lipo (just make an xt60 to dc barrel adapter) I forget the max voltage but 4s works great! I also power them with 12v ac to dc adapter when flying close to power outlet, or 12v from car. Great review!

    So having chats with owners of these and the general consensus is that the dual diversity might not be the best way to fly if you’ve got decent antenna and using 1 module. The module will swap to the other only on a very low RSSI from one providing the other has higher RSSI. Which unless you’re flying directly behind you and you have a patch facing backwards on the second module, will probably not happen. Taking one module out, using decent antennas on the one should give you best overall performance as it’s not draining the battery as much either.
    Would you tend to agree?

    • @muteFPV
      @muteFPV  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, I would agree, as long as you fly in the range of the antennas of course, as you described. I have not compared the dual modules extensively to other single-module receivers but I suppose their strongest use case would be with very high-gain directional antennas, were one would not cover the whole "front" area of the pilot.

    I got my EV200D:s used for 120€ and so far they have felt like best purchase I ever made, I love the screen quality and size. EV-800D box goggle works great as pair with these, I use it as just display / DVR and monitor for people who wonder what is going on, cause the EV-200D DVR is not very good quality in my opinion. I think they need to make goggles that have a massive FOV just like the EV800D's. Until then I'd settle for a OLED screen version of the EV800D's which work well anyway.

    • @muteFPV
      @muteFPV  5 років тому +1

      @Change Agent huge FOV would be great but I am pretty sure that the optics is the hardest part to design in FPV goggles. So far all the large FOV goggles I have tried suffer from edge blurring, which essentially makes the extra screen real estate useless. It is more immersive but the blurred portion is unusable.

    They should really sell these (or the 300s) with one (or no) diversity module for cheaper, and give you the option of what you want to go with, including maybe a competitive high-end di/quadversity set from them.

    • @muteFPV
      @muteFPV  4 роки тому +1

      I agree, skyzone should do that too (and have a modular bay ofcourse). Maybe the cost of these modules is very low and they prefer to include them in order to make the goggle price more appealing, I doubt they would sell them, for example, USD50 lower without modules.

    • @macelius
      @macelius 4 роки тому +1

      @@muteFPV Exactly, take a page from FS but without the ridiculous price. FPV goggles should focus on optics and ergonomics first, that's what we're really shopping for. There are plenty of open source diversity modules available to choose from, and the budget and even knockoff ones perform quite well, outperforming most integrated receivers. Eochine seems to have done pretty well on this one, though the quad seems mostly a gimmick. They could have just stuck their $20 diversity unit in them for those that want a ready to go set and spend the development money elsewhere. Good to see them trying new things though, wonder if they plan on selling the quad unit on it's own.

      Hi@@johnd.ingleson799! Prepare yourself for many expenses and many thrills :P I hope the goggles arrive soon and fit you well!
      Skyzone SKY03 is a very appealing set of goggles too, I am waiting to see how the latest updated version performs.
      I am completely unfamiliar with stereoscopic / 3D for FPV. There used to be dual cameras with a bit of separation - if I recall correctly you received the video feed with 2 separate receivers and displayed it one on each display/eye (Skyzone had this as a kit too I think). This was supposed to give a perception of depth but worked well only when close to a subject/object. I assume the heavy weight and large size of such setup and the speeds we are flying at with FPV were the reasons it never "took off". As for a VR headset essentially streaming the flight video feed from a laptop, I expect latency to be your main enemy there. This can definitely "disconnect" you from the immersive FPV flying and probably nauseate you too.

    Got these goggles a couple months ago. I do like them but for one thing, the DVR is awful!!! Your DVR video is fine. Mine is blown out bright. I did a firmware update. It now shows the corrected updated version number in the DVR menu screen but only a verrry slight improvement in video. No adjustment for brightness or contrast that I can find. My FTX Vipers have a great DVR and I will use them for my non SD card models. I would still buy these for the money and other features but totally dissappointed with the DVR. If I could have ONLY one pair of goggles I'd keep the Vipers and put up with their "clunky" size.

    How long have you used these for? And how often? Quality is a big issue on these, especially with the display controller cooking. Got a link to the barrel plug extension cord?
    A few notes:
    - you can remove the annoying fan and reverse the defogging check @vadym here t.me/EV200D
    - a second axii with the same polarization is useless. In high multipathing environment like this, I read that an LHCP + RHCP do wonder, at least with a rapidfire
    - These can eat up to 4s, which is good because when voltage drops sync also drops, in mid flight. Battery bank in the back pocket, long cable to the eachine lipo also works.

      Glad you liked it, thank you for the notes. These did not become my primary goggles so I haven't used them extensively, nor abused them. I try to use goggles for at least 1 month before publishing a review, which is enough to notice all positives and negatives but not enough to have a definitive opinion for the reliability. I think the extension cord was from the Flysight Falcon, I was looking to buy more of the same and couldn't find it.

    Is it just me or is this "quad diversity" more like regular diversity, only with two extra antenna fixtures 4 the fly hards?
    I've never ever seen these quad-diversity-goggles outperform other diversity goggles.
    Which is something you would expect.
    For instance, within a 50 yard range in a one-on-one comparison to a "regular" diversity goggle simply flying behind some shrubbery.
    One would expect the 4 antenna's to have better penetration and a better signal relay in comparison.
    But this is not the case from what I've seen from this goggle to date.
    This unit has 4 antennas! But somehow never seems to outperform regular diversity goggles, even in "Echine favourable conditions".
    Just makes me wonder.. if it's not just regular diversity. Hiped and sold to the fly hards.
    Also as they seemed to have bolloxed up many of the other stuff like a 10 seconds dvr press... wth?!
    Dvr-audio-sync issues, sd card issues, and multiplbe screen viewability issues.
    Who's to say that they've actually put 'true'-quad-diversity in these goggles.
    They seem to perform like regular goggles, only with more antenna's to boast about and burn yer pack on.
    Just my two cents..
    Love your vids Mute. New sub here' .

      I understand your concerns but the "strong suit" of this setup would be to have a wide coverage all around you, not improved performance towards a specific direction. Using 1x omni and 3x high gain patches should wield the best results, but it is to heavy and bulky for my taste.
