To everyone here checking the comment section, YOU''RE A HERO. I mean, come on, you were listening to this 11 years ago wondering if you would make it through the winter, and you did. And you did again and again, so that's why you're still here, though barely breathing. Every year I hope that I won't come back to this song 'cause I'm here everytime I feel like my life is about to end. But this song, sounds only helpless to me, somehow makes me through every winter, makes me through all the suicide thoughs that come up from nowhere. I know you're probably feeling worthless right now, but hey, we are here. I may not be able to bring you the positivity you need, but I can suffer here with you and you can trust me, 'cause that's what I'm going through right now too. You may or may not make it through this winter, BUT YOU'RE A FIGHTER, A WARRIOR, A HERO!! And I think that's beautiful.
I used this song to stop my anxiety/panic attacks in foster care and even into adulthood. Finally found Jesus in the end, and although im suffering I realized I’m in pain with many others in the same situation with similar thoughts. Listening to the exact same song and that’s really cool.

But then hours and hours later when we were sitting on the subway there was a point where he went real quiet and looked really troubled about something. I asked him why ... "I can't stop thinking about that fuckin trailer, man. That messed me up bad."

I’ve been having a hard time lately. My dad passed away recently and I’ve been questioning everything. I’m only eighteen years old and I’m scared. I don’t know who I am anymore. My mom gets worried about me, but I can’t have her worrying. I have to be a “big man” they say, but it’s been hard for me to stand still and keep my balance. When I’m alone in my room, my mind takes me back to the last conversation I had with him. He was driving me to work when out of the blue he asked if I was sad and I just completely started sobbing. He looked at me and told me that he loves me and that everybody I know loves me too. He told me not to be sad, he kept repeating that, and I just think about that moment we had together because my dad was always looking out for me. After his funeral my mom and I were talking when she told me that one night my dad had woken her up in the middle of the night to talk to her. My dad was pretty sick, but my mom said that they talked for hours. They talked about what it’d be like when they’re older and talked about their dreams and goals. And before they went to bed he told my mom to take care of me because he was worried about me. I never got a chance to tell him goodbye because I was too afraid to see him in the hospital bed and I regret not doing so. I’m listening to this song and it makes me remember him. It makes me think of my family. I love you mom and dad. I love them so much.
Hey man, I know it’s been a bit since you commented this but there’s nothing wrong with the way you feel. Your dad sounds like he was great guy, every one of your tears is worth it. I know it’s probably not nearly the same situation but I wasn’t able to be there when my grandmother died about a year ago, you’re not alone in your regret. Whatever happens after we pass on, I know your dad is proud of you.
I hope wherever you are, that you're doing better. I hope you find happiness and peace. Your father sounds like a great man. He clearly loved you very much.
I could actually see this as a fitting piece for funerals & Memorial Services, used as a piece for a time of reflection or accompanying slideshows commemorating one’s life
I'll never forget you jonjon, you were my brother, and I love you forever, I listened to this song on the day you passed, and everytime I hear it I see your little Grey face, to stop confusion, he was a cat, yes. This theme deserves to be the theme of a masterpiece for a high budget AAA game series. Yes the trailer was a masterpiece. But it's jus sad Dead Island was decent at best, and they didn't even use it for Dead Island 2. Shame.
Story time, I am a person who has trouble sleeping, I *need* soft music or white noise to sleep. My grandfather was in their room next to the living area where I had gone to sleep at their house and he came out the next day said, "That was some beautiful music, I've never slept so well." He was very confused when I explained it was from a game with zombies in it. Which made me recall the trailer. You see, I thought it was going to be a very sad a dramatic story game. I still loved it, but what a difference lol.
10 years later, this stands as one of the most perfectly emotional pieces of music ever written. It captures a despair so overwhelming and unshifting that it sticks with us forever, yet even in all the bleakness, the pain, and the void of that despair, there's still hope there. However faint, it still stands. A shouldering ember against the encroaching cold and darkness. The human drive to live just one more day. To draw just one more breath. To save one more person. That's what this song is now. Before I only saw the despair. I remember actually humming this song before a suicide attempt several years ago, funnily enough. Now I see far greater things with it. Oh yeah, and dead island was actually pretty good imo. It's got flaws, but it was a solid game.

Well I suppose I'll drop a little story while I can. I played this game as a 10 year old. I remember hearing about the game: Dead Island. I'd just got done playing Dead Rising and Dead Space so I was more than happy to add another zombie game to my collection. After about a week or two of begging I'd finally gotten it for my birthday. And while I had immense amounts of fun with friends, I was sad to hear this song nowhere in actual gameplay, so I went back to the trailer on UA-cam, and I listened to it for hours, Something about the violin's eerie voice, or the hypnotic melody which lulls you into a false state of security. Over time I listened to it as less of a lullaby and more of a soliloquy. I used to hear it and dream about the next time I'd have Sam B saving my friends after they get knocked down by thugs, or overrun by a horde. Now I just sit back in a chair and remember it all. Memories of an easier time, a kinder time. Don't get me wrong, this song has in no way been soured for me, Instead it's only been given more meaning, more reality and emotion. Only a few songs makes me feel that, and I'm glad this is one of them. Thank you Giles Lamb.

ITS NOT MY COMMENT, THAT COMMENT IS FROM OTHER VIDEO CONTAINING THIS GORGEUS THEME When the trailer was released I started learning piano because of this song. Since then, I've never stopped. Not a single day. 2 Years in and I knew I was in for the long run. Hired a personal piano teacher until she told me she couldn't teach more so I kept looking for teachers to keep improving and keep learning. Many years has passed since then and music became a really important part of my life. Now I teach piano to little and not so little kids. Next week I will have to pass one of my best students since I can no longer keep teaching him. All the happy and sad memories I had during this period of time would definitely not be the same without music on my side. And here is where all began, with this video. I was just randomly looking through my liked video playlist and found it. Thank you Giles Lamb. I will always be grateful for this master piece. It is maybe not the most complex nor the most popular song. But it's so important to me. It was there, at the right moment, at the right time to change the life of a simple kid, me. A present that will be stuck with me until I die.

This wonderful man gave us a gift that will span generations of not just gamers but musicians as well. This masterpiece is an unending wealth of sorrow, pain, grief, heroism, hope, victory and defeat all spun into one of the greatest, if not The greatest, score used in a video game. We are indebited as a society to this man's genius and passion for music. Seeing the faces of the musicians that worked to make this happen shows all the raw emotion we feel just listening to it. Thank you and excuse me while I wipe away these tears of joy.
I listen to this song frequently, and have ever since it was marketed with Dead Island. This is a masterpiece. Thank you for bringing life to the world with this piece.

The first time I saw that trailer... I actually cried a lot even after buying the game I loved it and the easter egg of the same couple in the trailer made me sad.

It will always remain one of the best songs I’ve ever heard from when I was a child up until now and till the day I die. 🙏
As a classical and OST lover, this song is one of the most beautiful pieces written and composed during the last 40 years. Last year it was played during our wedding ceremony and when I pass it will be played once again. Some songs have a note structure and tempo that connects with your soul so deeply it never leaves.
10 years later and this song is still haunting when you listen to it. It's absolutely amazing and still moves you emotionally. If a song doesn't move you emotionally then its just noise.
How in the name of God do you only have 800 subs? This is one of the most beautiful, heart-rending compositions I've ever had the pleasure to experience.

those strings... they way they swell up and almost seem to dance on the edge of breaking but they can't, the piano's rhythm demands that they cannot break, that they press on to create something beautiful
I honestly think, if this was composed 300 yesrs ago, it would be viewed as a masterpiece. The amount of emotional struggle captured is.... Just breath taking. I can't help but cry every time I hear this song. It's a privilege to live at the same time as you have made this
I just heard this incredible song in the latest episode of 911: Lone Star (SE3: E4) on Hulu and it had my wife and I all teary eyed. I knew I’d heard it before, and then I remembered… the best game trailer of all time. It’s testament to how groundbreaking this song was that, 11 years after being made for a video game trailer, not only is it still fondly remembered, it’s also still being picked up by a major TV production. Absolute masterpiece, Giles. I hope you’re getting everything you deserve for creating it.

@@brotherzez2 Here you go, my man. - watch?v=SL6VyktvrG4 - Starts at 1:40. What's genius about it is how the show, like the game, uses the song to convey a mix of both joy and misery. How to people make this music without sobbing is beyond me.
ITS NOT MY COMMENT, THAT COMMENT IS FROM OTHER VIDEO CONTAINING THIS GORGEUS THEME
When the trailer was released I started learning piano because of this song.
Thanks so much for the repost, I feel so honoured. Thank you.
I do wish Techland took a more realistic approach at showing the tragedy that would be a zombie apocalypse. This perfectly encapsulates that for me.
Damn, this song made me cry for no reason. This is amazing.
The most memorable song to the most memorable game trailer of all time.
Just heard this for the first time on 911 Lone Star. You sir are fantastic! Breathtaking.
Thankyou 😊
Could you find a video of the scene and copy n paste the link? I’ve never heard of the show I’m just a big Dead Island/Techland fan and I’ve loved this song since I was 13 and I’m 26, I’d really love to hear/watch. I find that really cool that a tv show used a video game reveal trailer soundtrack :)
@@brotherzez2 found it ua-cam.com/video/2Rd8vIQIAKE/v-deo.html
@@brotherzez2 I wasn't able to find a clip of it but it would appear it was played on Season 3 Episode 4. Apparently it played over a birth scene of all things lol
@@brotherzez2 Same here Dead island was the first Techland game I ever played when I was 7-8 I did play left for dead then too then I moved to Dying light love this theme
This is unironically one of the best orchestral pieces I’ve ever heard, to be honest, and I’m so glad it got a 10 year anniversary treatment
A brilliant song and so emotional in so many ways I love it
Thank you
no music can produce this feelings in dead island only this masterpiece of music
Amazing. Thankyou
The most beautiful music I've ever heard.... is from... the dead island trailer. what.
Man.. I never knew this one exists. I'm glad it does. Simply beautiful.. never once this music makes me shed a tear.
The Dead Island Trailer may just be the greatest video game trailer ever. Absolutely devastating. This song is incredible
One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard
This is one of those songs you hope doesn't have an ending.
An incredible tribute, and grand treasure for the gaming community (and the rest of the world too).
If humanity would end tomorrow let this be the final thing the cosmos hears from us and know the true beauty of Giles Lamb and his gift to us all. Thank you and excuse me while I wipe away these tears of joy.
This song stays with me chills every time I hear it. What a lovely composition, and they played it wonderfully!🥲
The trailer in itself was insane and one of the best ever for a video game. But this music just made it hit so hard. Haunting and beautiful.
Now someone just needs to make games that are emotionally gripping as this piece
I remember hearing it way back then and calling in my partner with tears in my eyes to come and listen , such an emotive piece of music. Thank you
Used in 911 Lonestar I see 😌 Hollywood can't slip this iconic song past me
Beautiful work. I’ll never get tired of this song.
I listen to this song frequently, and have ever since it was marketed with Dead Island. This is a masterpiece. Thank you for bringing life to the world with this piece.
Criminal this doesn’t have more views
Dead island have been my favorite game
I can just see the girl running away from the zombies in the hotel in my head, hell I can see the who teaser in my head hearing this. Everyone was shocked from the teaser. I can’t wait for Dead Island 2 man
Who knew something so beautiful could come from killing zombies...
Truly the best score for the best game trailer ever made.
This theme is one of my all-time favorites. Since back in 2011 when I first heard it together with the dead island trailer, I've never forgotten it. Coming back every now and then to relive the experience brings me immense joy. Thanks for bringing this masterpiece into the world.
The first time I saw that trailer... I actually cried a lot even after buying the game I loved it and the easter egg of the same couple in the trailer made me sad.
when the song is 1000 times better than the actual game
both trailer and music
If I were the developers of the game and I just got done watching the trailer with this music I'd go back to the team, delete everything, and tell them 'guys, we have to do better.'.
@@joet7136exactly they can literally do that like rockstar did to the original red dead and made the masterpiece that is rdr2 they should do it but I know they never will
@@LuisLopez-wn6tz It's not their fault. The publisher insisted that the game be "fun". Techland resisted. It turned out what it turned out to be. And they can't change anything, because the rights belong to the publisher.
This piece, in my opinion, rivals some of the best in history. It’s on part with the Schindlers List theme song. Thank you Mr Giles and thank you to the whole team that made this song possible. It will always remain one of the best songs I’ve ever heard from when I was a child up until now and till the day I die. 🙏
I think this is the perfect score a trailer has ever had. This song showed one identity Dead Island never had, although it could've been...
As a classical and OST lover, this song is one of the most beautiful pieces written and composed during the last 40 years. Last year it was played during our wedding ceremony and when I pass it will be played once again. Some songs have a note structure and tempo that connects with your soul so deeply it never leaves.
Amazing. Thank-you so much! This is so touching, and I am honoured to have been played at your wedding.🙏🙏
10 years later and this song is still haunting when you listen to it. It's absolutely amazing and still moves you emotionally.
If a song doesn't move you emotionally then its just noise.
Hey man is just like a zombie game so nothing to crazy
Proceeds to make the most beautiful piece of music known to man
It will never get old. This song always makes me cry.
Still beautiful after 13 years, bravo
How in the name of God do you only have 800 subs?
This is one of the most beautiful, heart-rending compositions I've ever had the pleasure to experience.
Ha, thank-you. So much! Spread the word. 🙏🙏
Consider it done :-)@@GilesLambMusic
I remember being moved by this from the initial trailer and I'm still listening to it to this day!
Been listening to this song 10 years now ❤️it’s such a hard feeling to describe what this song does to me , it’s so happy and sad at the same time :) thank you for this and for dead island ❤️
This song makes me get chills everytime & this game means the world to me, it really cements and bring me back to my childhood listening to this, thank you for creating this and bringing a smile to my face, this song is so sad and nostalgic.
those strings...
they way they swell up and almost seem to dance on the edge of breaking
but they can't, the piano's rhythm demands that they cannot break, that they press on to create something beautiful
beautifully put - thank you 🙏
This song is amazing. Every time I hear it I want to cry and get chills. Amazing work!
One of the best game trailers and best music for that trailer
aaaaaaah 🤤 .......... thank you ........ thank you to bring back to life this master piece....... 🎹🎻
💀🏝
After my big brother died i always playing this on piano.. playing everyday. until earthquake and tsunami occured in my city and i stopped
The power of music 🙏
You make me cry man, thank you so much for this masterpiece, really, thank you.
Ahh thankyou. 🙏
perfection then. perfection now.
I honestly think, if this was composed 300 yesrs ago, it would be viewed as a masterpiece. The amount of emotional struggle captured is.... Just breath taking. I can't help but cry every time I hear this song. It's a privilege to live at the same time as you have made this
The only memorable piece of media that can get me emotional

While Judd is watching his child being born, Owen finds a moment to face the reality that his son is dying in hospital, unaware that he is actually making a miraculous recovery.
I wasn't gonna cry today. Now ya'll got me weeping like a baby... :'(
Thank you to all who bring light to where darkness screams.
Thanks for that great piece 🥰
I always see people saying that the game never lived up to the trailer, but it did only not quite as we expected, i'm replaying it 10 years after my first playthrough, and its missing the tone of the trailer, but it still made me feel dread and horror, which i absolutely love
I cried on this beautiful music, thank you! It's beautiful. It makes me feel so many emotions at so many levels, it's incredible.
Thankyou. 🙏🙏
Thank you Mr.Lamb and ensemble. This is beautiful it touches my heart. ♥
Something that exceeds the entirety of what it was meant to promote.
music cant be that sad. The music
