  • Park staff recently placed two cannon carriages and tubes of Battery E, 4th U.S. Artillery back to their rightful place on the battlefield after the carriages were meticulously refurbished. Battery E, 4th U.S. Artillery sits atop Bushman Hill, just south of Big Round Top.

Excellent! My only question is, is the little yellow and orange machine a limber or a caisson?

Good job! I take it if there was a Federal battery present on Bushman Hill it couldn't have been there until sometime on Day 3 right?

Morning of July 3rd: July 3 Arrived on the field and took position on a hill southwest of Round Top and engaged under Brig. General E. J. Farnsworth in the afternoon against the Confederate right.

@@fireman19841 Never understood why the Confederates seemingly gave up possession of Big Round Top during the night of July 2nd.

Are the cannons repro or the real historical thing?

Incorrect actually... July 3 Arrived on the field and took position on a hill southwest of Round Top and engaged under Brig. General E. J. Farnsworth in the afternoon against the Confederate right. One member of the gun crew was killed.
