Matt I love your lectures, they are just the right blend of historical fact, personal anecdotes, wit, Dad jokes and fly-by-the-seat-of-the-pants story telling. Greetings from New Zealand.

Thank you Matt. I learned a lot. I appreciate that you mentioned my home county, Morgan, in southeastern Ohio. Many Columbus citizens wanted the old prison to be turned into a museum, but it was in horrible condition. Instead, it made way for the hockey arena where the Blue Jackets play. And by the way, 99.9 percent of Columbusites were against that name. In case you didn't see my live chat. I believe the French you showed means "Patience is bitter, but it's fruit is sweet." I took French in high school. Thanks for a good show. I guess you do listen to your voice mail messages.

"Patience is bitter, but it's fruit is sweet."
That's a fantastic line for sure.

Yes it is. That P word is not fun. Reminds me of "soon". Soon can be 20 years!

99.9% of the people of Columbus only agree that they want to embezzle the rest of the state's tax dollars.
The name wasn't the problem. A professional hockey team in Columbus was the problem. And to this day, only wealthy suburbanites watch their games.

It never ceases to amaze me the determination individuals display when they attempt a "prison break." Hand digging through six inches of concrete and six layers of brick is incredible. To not be seen by their captors is downright unbelievable.

My 6X great-grandfather was Joel Buffington, who once owned Buffington Island and for whom it is named. Also, there is a wonderful trail that follows Morgan's raid across southern Ohio, with the highlight being the Buffington Island battlefield site.

Thanks Matt for the lecture. Living near the Salineville and West Point area of Ohio, I have always had an interest in John Hunt Morgan. It was great to learn more about who he was.

My 5x great grandfather served in the 78th PA. His name was also John Morgan. I imagined it tickled the General to no end he was still confounding a Yankee all these years later while I researched my Grandfather!

I especially loved the way you said rarroad. I was brought up on that word! Thanks for that memory and for your expert speech!
