Gillingham fan here, it still breaks my heart knowing how agonisingly close we were to beating City at Wembley. Thankfully we went up the next year & I’m proud of how City have done since as they are such a huge Club that didn’t deserve to be in Division 2. Still praying Gillingham do a Bournemouth one day, but here’s to both clubs, maybe we’ll meet again one day.
Despite all the success and games against the likes of Barca and Real Madrid, I still think about Gillingham. I’ll check the table to see how you’re doing and hearing your result read out always makes me look up and think about that game. You’re a big part of our history and where we ended up.
I remember being at maine road for the league game against Gillingham that season (a very dull 0-0). But never forget the Gill fans chanting 'where are city in the league'. As Gillingham were above us at the time. But I always look out for them ever since that game and hope they do well.
I met Paul Dickov in 2017 in Bangkok and I remember our conversation about his late and FAMOUS goal at Wembley. His love and dedication for City are pure. Really glad that CityTV invited the whole 99 squads and made a movie. So proud to be part of this club.
@@carolyuenaz - Yes, it was a different world back then. If you weren't in Manchester you couldn't watch the team play or the parade. I doubt anyone outside of the cities where teams played back then knew anything about them.
Being a City fan evrytime when I watch a highlight of games or any moment or any history of our club, my eyes come out with tears, a tears of joy. Thank you legend for brought us here and together we can grow as a club.evrythig we touch become a history. Love u City. Once a blue always a blue n my heart is blue... A tears of joy..
My parents were there at Wembley that day. They left me at my grans house. I listened on GMR. I was silly enough to switch the radio off at 2-0. I have never left or stopped watching a game early since. This was the moment that made me a true believer in the magic of football. And it was beautiful.
I know that players come and go but do you think different teams of a certain club have this similar spirit ?? Like this 1999 play off and the 2012 title race fight to the end would you say it’s a Manchester City thing?😅
@@LUKE-cx7jr 30s and 50s went to Wembley lost, both captains promised to win the final the year after, and both did. One was the Trautman broken neck as well if I remember right.
I wore my 69 cup final replica jersey at Wembley that day. Nearly ripped it up on 85 mins. We all kept the faith and look what happened. In my opinion the most important game in our history.
At the end of Sky Sports coverage of the playoff final in 99, I remember them getting the final words from a blue leaving the ground "Them reds are finished, we're rising, we're going up! Phoenix in the flame, this is the beginning! " I had no idea Nostradamus was a City fan! 😆
Love this. I was there and i didn't leave the stadium when we went 2-0 down. Them wooden benches seated about 50 or so and only me and my mate were still sat on it when it looked like all hope was lost. It was completely full again when dickov became a legend. CTID
I made my two teenage lads watch this..... they now know that the likes of Goat, Dickov and Weaver are true City legends.....just in a slightly different way to our current crop. Brilliant video.....and glad I am not the only one who shed a tear .....
What a great day 😊. I got goose bumps watching this again. I was there with my brother gutted at 0-2 down and sat down despondent. My brother said to “come on stand up we can do this” . We were right at the top tier of seats at wembly, near the steps. We witnessed a mass exodus past in the last five minutes . It stopped when Horlock scored. Then when Dickov scored it was utter mayhem, stranger hugging strangers. I pratically celebrated by running down the steps hugging everyone in pure joy. From then on we just new we was going to win that day…. CTID 😊
Dickov's goal and that final pass to Dickov looked very similar to the goal Aguero scored in 2012 assisted by Balotelli. Man City Dramatic Come back win on final day keeps on repeating after a gap of 10 years. Here we are here again singing Gundogan in 2022 . What a history. What a club. Dickov's 1999 Aguerooo 2012 and Gundogan 2022. 💙💙💙
Was there that day, making my way back to the car with tears in my eyes until heard roar then turned round like hundreds more, the Wembley stewards wouldn't let us back in at first but in the end we carried them back in with us lol what a day and as they say the rest is history

That equalizer was very similar to the Aguero goal. Even the buildup. Started from a throw in. Who knows. Maybe we will reach the champions league final next year and something similar will happen. That really seems to be the magic of this club haha.

To think of where Manchester City are now. None of it would be possible without this courageous team of characters. I've found myself getting very anxious/nervous about the upcoming Champions League semifinal tie with PSG! But after coming back to this video. And the 93:20 documentaries.
