These crash tests are a good way to show the public why you shouldn't mess with railroad crossings! I remember Conrail used to run through my hometown of Brockton MA as well. Then when Conrail went defunct in 1999, CSX took over freight train operations through here.
As For Single Track Crossing At The Eden Evan Heavens Rd It Was Own By Norfolk Southern The 2 Track Crossing Was Run By CSX But The Old WC Hayes Signals On CSX Were Replaced In Early 2010 With New NEG Signals
Remember, guys: trains cannot stop quickly, they cannot turn out of the way of you, and you can't tell how fast a train is going by looking at it coming. It's an optical illusion, like a jet plane coming in for a landing.
@skinnyshit8888 Well, Conrail didn't exactly break up. The government company was purchased and split between two private companies, CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railways.
Wow. Do you recall a kids simulator from operation lifesaver featuring Tracks the railroad crossing signal?? I grew up in southern nj. The garden state discovery museum (permantly closed) at the time had that simulator for operation lifesaver since 1994
@nickthegodly Yes. It was development to save vital routes at risk of being lost by the defunct Penn Central and keep them in operation. Conrail is one of the few government companies that were wildly successful, and the assests were purchased by NS and CSX is 2000.
I do too. I grew up in an area of Canada that had a lot of passive grade crossings, and we were on the local roads a lot. People need to exercise caution.
I don’t understand this people have seen thousands of train crash tests even this one and seen the devastation of the crash and they still think they can beat the train. 30 years later and people are still getting hit by trains because of their dumb decision.
@SantaFebuff "Duuh, look at dat people on der tv. If I kill meh self driving on train tracks I be on videostar and always famous! Duuuhhh!!!!" - Is what I'd expect someone in your drivers ed to be thinking when their being shown a video about railroad safety. From as far as I can remember I knew that when the alarm sounds and/or the barrier is down that I should not cross. I'm not having a go at safety videos because they play part of the role in making workplaces everywhere safer.
@QullVideo You'd be surprised how dull people are towards PSAs. The Driver's Ed class I was in was ignoring the very poorly done video from 1992 about railroad crossing safety until they saw the car getting hit. You'd be surprised how far people have their head in their asses.
@waywardsons67 It seems rather pointless that people need to be told that train tracks are dangerous. And why would you type that you are offended by the word fucking? Fuck fuck fuckity fuck.. It’s the 21st Century.

Mighty WKBW! Out of Buffalo NewYork, with long gone CONRAIL; good programming from Stateside. One of that city’s stations that’s crossing the border.

Despite this, many people STILL think a train can stop on a dime.

never race a train even if it's far from the crossing your just risking your life for a stupid reason
I think my parents did that once. It was stupid
