THANK YOU! My little ones are a toddler and just starting kindergarten, and I find your channel to be helpful in so many ways! I’m always looking out for good books and planning ahead so that they have a love for reading. I want you to know that your channel and others like it are really special to me because I haven’t found community to pull this kind of knowledge, experience, and advice from. Thanks for helping all of us mamas feel less alone and supported! ❤
Aw, I don't want to reread Charlotte's Web even as a 50+ year old adult! I haven't reread The Mouse and the Motorcycle since I was little, so I don't remember the details. But I do remember that I loved it. And I still love rereading the Little House books! Such a comfort read. I'll have to check out many of these that I haven't heard of before. I love children's books.
Mr Popper’s Penguins, Ramona series, The Borrowers, Pippi Longstocking, Findus and Petson series, Teddy Robinson, and all the Pooh stories were some of our favorites.
Needed this! My kiddos are also sensitive. We trialed "story of the world" for history and has to stop. My kids couldn't handle the talk of people's heads being chopped off and all the death. I know it's true but they definitely weren't ready for it.
Thank you so much for this video! I have 4, 5 and 6 year old boys and my oldest is especially sensitive. I was having a hard time trying to find the right books for them. This is very helpful!
What a great list of recommendation. Lots of Sonlight and Brave Writer books. You have really good taste in good quality books. My boys have listened to the audiobook of The World According to Humphrey no kidding over 10 times!!! They love it.
Thank you for sharing! I need to be better about prereading lol instead I’ll end up occasionally pausing while I try and change the words of the story real quick in my mind for them 🤣 even if it’s just avoiding words like “stupid” etc
We love Heartwood Hotel too! This is our current read-aloud. However, my son didn't like The Wild Robot just because of the part where Ros had to leave her mom. My son bawled 😭 and he didn't want to read it anymore. He couldn't control his emotions. 😢 Our kids are really unique, and what might be ok with other kids may not be for our child. And that's okay, this is the way God designed us to be. Always looking forward to your read aloud recos, Angie! Thank you!
I loved this! My 8 year old son's second grade class recently just read the book Sarah, Plain and Tall. Well the mom in the book died and he was really sensitive to that. He has been upset ever since and worries that something will happen to his dad or I. It breaks my heart. We do not watch most Disney movies for the reason as well. I love that I can refer to this list of books without worry other than Charlotte's Web which his class will also be reading this year. But maybe I should read it with him ahead of time to prepare him. Or just tell him ahead of time what will happen? But anyway, thank you!
These look fantastic! Thank you for sharing 💗 My daughter is not sensitive in the sense that things will scare her but she doesn’t like emotional stuff, and she will pick up on bad habits/behavior with some characters. I know some of these touch on your emotions but I’m still going to try Charlotte’s Webb and watch the movie after as a bonus for finishing the book. Oh goo! Thank you for sharing the Mindy books! I never heard of them, and they will be so perfect for my girl, we are a mix family, she’s 1/2 Korean. She has started to take notice that she looks different…and sometimes makes sad comments; although, her friends are all different as well but none are Asian. I’m a very happy Mamma right now for learning about this books. I feel I can trust the quality being recommended by you. 🥰
Loved this, thank you for sharing! My littles ones are also really enjoying Uncle Wiggily’s Storybook :) it might be for a slightly younger audience but I have really loved it too!
Charlotte’s Web makes me ball 😭. Like to the point where my kids ask me if I’m ok. I remember reading it as a child and being sad, but rereading it to my kids as an adult and parent now just get me 🐷🕷❤
Spy Penguins by Sam Hay is another great series that is fun to read aloud. Also the Investigators - this is a graphic novel series that is actually fun to read aloud.
Hi there! This is so not on topic, but I once saw you had some cool logic pages for your kiddos to do. What books do you buy for logic? Thanks so much! Hope you respond!!
My sensitive son has enjoyed some of these, but My Father’s Dragon was one we quit in the first chapter or two. Heartwood Hotel is great. The scene you mention in Adventures with Waffles… is it with the chicken? We thought that was hilarious!
Thank you for doing this! Are any of the books you recommended not happily ever after? My sensitive kiddo likes stories that end well and not sad or disappointing.
Hi! Thank you for making so informative and detailed videos. I am an Indian parent and I've watched couple of your videos including the one on maths curriculum. I want to ask, of you could help me get the dimensions Kindergarten maths curriculum books..pdfs ...or any other way...since they are not available here. I will have to place an international order and that's too much on my pocket. I havebeen reaching out to many in this case, if anyone could of help.
My son (6) lives whatever he’s reading. He doesn’t handle well sad stories and starts crying and he will wake up in the middle of the night crying talking about the story. (Charlottes web was a headache in my house.)
I'm so angry I was forced to listen/read some of the books when I was in school - I'm still sensitive but sounder, island of the blue dolphins, charlottes web(loved the book but it was sad), ol yeller every single year we had to watch and I hated it, where the red fern grows and even in high school having ot read animal farm and lord of the flies
I love this! ❤ Also, for what it’s worth, I think in actuality our kids are “normal” and a lot of other kids have been desensitized 😔
I agree with this--what we expose our children to either lifts them up or breaks them down.
Completely agree!
This!
Highly recommend the Sophie Mouse series too, especially for sensitive kiddos. Its such a cute series.
Love this!! I have a little sensitive girl! Haven’t even listened yet, but want to recommend the Sophie Mouse books to anyone reading the comments 🙂💗
I've heard of Sophie Mouse!
And Zoey and Sassafras! Those two series are both so sweet!
THANK YOU! My little ones are a toddler and just starting kindergarten, and I find your channel to be helpful in so many ways! I’m always looking out for good books and planning ahead so that they have a love for reading.

Thank you, I really needed to hear that today!!

Love this list! Thank you for looking out for those of us with sensitive listeners! 😍
Mr Popper’s Penguins, Ramona series, The Borrowers, Pippi Longstocking, Findus and Petson series, Teddy Robinson, and all the Pooh stories were some of our favorites.
Thank you, we have read all but the Findus and Petson series - going to go check it out now!
Lady, this is amazing. Thank you!!!! None of these books are super fantasy or 'magical' which is what I'm looking for! Bless you!!!
I'm so glad you found the list helpful - I love all of these books!

Haha, yes you can easily see what I am influenced by :)
Thank you for sharing! I need to be better about prereading lol instead I’ll end up occasionally pausing while I try and change the words of the story real quick in my mind for them 🤣 even if it’s just avoiding words like “stupid” etc
Haha, yes I definitely edit on the fly as well :)

Ahh, that is a sad part in The Wild Robot!
Thanks for increasing my library holds' list, Angie! 😁
Haha, you are very welcome!!

Those are great ideas! I don't feel the need to rush my sensitive kiddos, there are so many good books that aren't scary or sad that we can read!

Happy to help!!
Thank you for this list!! So many of those books sound great for my daughter 😊
I love this! Thank you so much. Would you happen to have a list of more character trait books? 😊
So many good choices here - I need to head to the library ASAP!
Thank you for this video!!!! I'll check them out! Great recs!
Loved this, thank you for sharing! My littles ones are also really enjoying Uncle Wiggily’s Storybook :) it might be for a slightly younger audience but I have really loved it too!
Mine are sensitive also...your list looks good! Thanks for sharing!

I loved Little House in the Big Woods when I was a kid!
I love your book reviews! Thanks.
Very thoughtful video. I saw some of my favs! 🌻
I wrote down several of these titles for the future!
Loved all of these recommendations ❤
The lighthouse family series, the Growly books and journey beyond the burrow would be appropriate too.
Spy Penguins by Sam Hay is another great series that is fun to read aloud. Also the Investigators - this is a graphic novel series that is actually fun to read aloud.
We have a lot of those! I would add Where the mountain meets the moon.
I think it's an absolute masterpiece.
It is on my list, but I haven't read it yet :)

I made this video a few years ago :) ua-cam.com/video/XDIWZkMqkgc/v-deo.html
My sensitive son has enjoyed some of these, but My Father’s Dragon was one we quit in the first chapter or two. Heartwood Hotel is great. The scene you mention in Adventures with Waffles… is it with the chicken? We thought that was hilarious!
It was the scene at the beginning where there was a tractor and a pile of manure and everyone got sprayed with manure :)
Thank you for doing this! Are any of the books you recommended not happily ever after? My sensitive kiddo likes stories that end well and not sad or disappointing.
Other than Charlottes Web and Adventures in Waffles - I think everything else has nice resolution :)
Love the book reviews. Thx
Literally put all of these on hold at the library! ha!
Haha, glad to help :)

You can't go wrong with Beverly Cleary
Agreed!

I really disliked Lord of the Flies!
