The fact that there still exists in our midst a group of people who think nothing of dipping themselves,undressed up to their waist,into the sewage wells on big city roads and elsewhere to remove blocks and sediments that block the drains is heartbreaking to say the least .I sit here lamenting about the state of affairs feeling small and helpless and wondering how we can call ourselves a “nagariga samoogam ,”The likes of this young man …Krishna and his music give me hope of a holistic mind change in our midst . God bless him!

But I have never seen a single lower caste person as accompaniment. Is it mere theatrics. Illayaraja has done much more real contributions to carnatic music than TMK. TMK has good sponsors to take him to such schools like IBM.

I don't think this is right to sing the song of Perumal. MURUGAN REG scavenger related work. It can be written as an article in news paper. Absolutely rubbish ridiculous to bring out in concerts. The image of singer also go to that level.it is very much pained to see the such a great musician to this low level of image. I hope he need some proper treatment under sychiotrist
To all who drops venom disguised as criticism [ not genuine productive criticisms ] ... Pls don't try to take monopoly of entire carnatic music and take pain of putting in your weak shoulders. Music in any form has no boundaries....it keeps refined and under go experiments...while some succeeds some breaks. Saw some one here berating TNKs slow paced music ....pity to his conservative ears who didn't hear pre ariyakudi era and beauty of leisurely paced music right from MDR to TMK and many others.... This stream of music will keep blooming with the contributions of TMK and many others..don't belittle his ways.....u can take only what you want from his music but don't make the mistake of writing him off ...u will fail for sure 🙏
He sings on Periyar and belittles Brahmins.So he supports chappal mala on Lord Rama but steals songs from Saint tyagaraja.hypocrite to the core...madras music academy is handle of atheist Dmk.

Even more noteworthy than his well-deserved awards and his prolific literary output apart from the viciously contested Sangeetha Kala Nidhi are his detractors who never fail to astound me with their capacity to store such a copious amount of venom in themselves. That this much toxicity can co-exist with their ostensible love for Carnatic music is a most intriguing anomaly and one worth serious study.
Excellent concert , good selection of songs had from Tagore to Dikshitar , Introducing a social Perumal Murugan in this concert creates so much negativity as I see the comments, it's a crazy world difficult to understand

I like T M krishna when he sings proper traditional lineage gifted Carnatic..Horribly out of tune a@ 4.2-4.4 mins.....Ustad amir khan / recently passed away Ustad Rashid khan would have died before being so out of tune ... vocal .artists first and foremost aim...in Sa ,re ,ga ,ma ,dha ,ni ,sa,.... bhramadarshan....in a each aakar notes....He was good earlier...why he loosing his sharpness???

my 2 cents for two decades i was having two normal eyes (right eye was Sri Sanjay subrahmanyan) and left eye was Sri TMK. but recent days i lost my left eye sight and right eye is kind of catract since changed from CM to musician. for years i used to have the habit of standing outside of Sri TMK’s house gate just to remember the concerts that i had attended around chennai city. i dont know why supporting musicians play for him. am kind of blind!

As a performing artist- after reading the comments of rasika-s below- I just want to say that the frameworks of classical traditions are different from contemporary art.
Mixing them together is like drinking a pitcher of long-island and then switching to single malt.
I hope this analogy is enough to explain to the newly initiated ones on why some seasoned connoisseurs of art are pained by TMK. Personally, I wonder does he do this to show his rebelliousness, or his want for being hailed as a social reformer?

I too agree that it is a pity that she people get into jobs of cleaning feacus. But it is not more dumped on them by any society. It is their own choice to do or not. Of course society has the moral.responsilbility to wards them. Do tmk instead of just singing perumal sir's songs should get into the job of helping them. He can create awareness after he initiates methods like providing gloves or some hygienic conditions for the people who are actually the most important to the society than even him....who just dings and entertains. It is unfortunate. There are ngos who don't just talk like him but get into jobs. Why does he just remain in words with regards to these renaissance. Tmk, please stop just talking or singing about this. Get into action..the unfortunate thing is that such people get into blaming others for not doing when they themselves are passive.

I was taken aback to see him coining a song & compose it on the most controversial, venomous, Brahmin hater EVR ( widely known as Periar)who was an athiest. EVR was known for his obnoxious, obscene & filthy oration & phrases against Hindus & Hindu deities.
Aghast to see how this fellow became ardent devotee of EVR who lost no opportunity to admonish St. Thiagaraja & Sri Ram whose kritis on one & only Sri Ram are sung & popularised by stalwarts of Carnatic Music till now.
