This is one of their songs I can't get "burned out" from listing to it to often. The more I listen to Anemone the more it gets better to me.
It is one of the many reasons to LOVE this band..How much emotion they create in their music..From Kanami's writing, composing, and guitar work (not forgetting the backing tracks like piano and every other instruments she can muster)....Miku's wonderful lyrics and backing vocals...Saiki's emotional execution of those lyrics...and all backed by the best rhythm section any band could ever wish for!..MISA & Akane...Not forgetting Miku's input here also....They are a very special group of ladies...And to top it off..they come across as so genuinely humble, delightful ladies.....As Miku once said when asked about creating the band "A Miracle Po!"🥰..Long May They Reign!👑
I absolutely love Anemone. For some reason it breaks my heart every time I hear it. Band-Maid's ballads are the most beautiful music I've ever heard.

Kanami’s ability to emote through her guitar is definitely top notch. Her compositions and arrangements make it all the more special. Heck even her body language when playing is always so in tune with those emotions.

Anemone is overshadowed by Daydreaming imo, it's a hidden masterpiece that makes you cry every single time. Maybe it's not the perfect song for live, because it's too personal. Saiki and Miku in this song are emotionally in sync that really breaks my heart.

It's overshadowed because there was never a video made for it. Had they made a video it would have been hugely popular.
Yes..the "Puzzle" "Anemone" double feature acoustic is a heart breaker for sure....Pure Gold.. * sigh *.
Some are good with words, others let pictures or other creations speak for them, and Kanami is so damn good at letting her instrument speak for her. And I think just because not only Kanami, but also the whole band is so damn good at what they do, the language barrier doesn't matter for many of us. Feelings don't necessarily have to be expressed with words.
I feel very, very much like you when it comes to the emotional connection to this band and their music, and I too, have not experienced anything like this in my little over 40 years.

Great points, Allan, esp. about Band-Maid separating from others in terms of arrangement and Kanami's solo as a climactic expression of the song's emotions. The thing that blows me away about Ansan is how they are able to integrate traditional Japanese instruments, with each one getting its own line of counterpoint. The final chorus is almost symphonic.
Thanks Phil, BAND-MAID always gets me. One minute I’m dancing around the house like Mincho and other times I’m overcome with emotions like in this video. It’s truly amazing!

Hi Alan,for me in my 60s,no band before has given me the feels,goosebumps on arms,tingle at the back of your neck,like BM has so many times,dont get me wrong some songs have done that to me over the years,but these ladies do it on a regular basis,it blows you away ,it really does,,great reaction.

You’re not alone, brother. First time I heard this gem was from the 2018 Zepp Tokyo okyuji. No idea about the lyrics but hearing Anemone just pulled at my heartstrings and I promptly shed a tear. Even the studio version has the same emotional effect on me too.

100% agree about Kanami. I also am of the opinion that Kanami sings the backup vocals for anemone. Listen to the live acoustic version and this one back-to-back a see if you think it's the same voice. It's just my speculation and they don't really give any detail on their album credits, so it's kind of fun to try and pick out some little things.
FWIW I also, suspect Kanami sings on the studio version of H-G-K. Listen to it after the acoustic version paying attention to the parts Kanami sings in the acoustic (mostly oooohs).

Kanami does possess a soft sweet capable voice. She did mentioned in an interview that she doesn’t particularly enjoy singing, so it’s pretty rare for us to hear her. Too bad, I like anything Mincho does!
